I bought myself a CHI and I love it. Is it going to burn my hair and make it in bad condition. I notice my hair if I don't straighten it seems more damaged now. Should I stop?

I've never used one, but my friend has one that she uses all of the time. It doesn't seem to damage her hair.
I couldn't tell you anything first hand.

make sure you use serum before you blow dry. on the low end, biosilk is great- on the high end i.c.o.n. is great as a leave in... you basically need some type of barrier on your hair. and always blow dry completely before ironing!! you'll fry your hair otherwise.

What's a CHI? Is it like a ceramic or glass flat iron? Depends on what type of hair you have and at what level of heat you use. But I think generally those flat irons are safe. And plus your hair is dead anyways!

CHI is ceramic. Do you know the best type to use? Ive seen Jade but never heard of glass. Im willing to get the best because I like it so much. My hair is thick and course . I color it so maybe that is a factor. I love how the iron takes the volume out of my hair.

Hey thirteen

I could only find a few sites on glass plate technology...

http://www.hairstraightening.net/Conair-hair-straighteners.html

here's one on a variety of straighteners: http://www.hairstyles-tools.com/

AND Definitely use hair serum for the frizzies!!

definitely use serums and heat activated shampoos and conditioners like therma silk. Doing it to much can damage your hair.

The CHI is a great flat iron. My hair tends to get damaged and dry after a lot of flat ironing. Just make sure you get your hair cut regularly to snip out the dead ends and definately use hair serums to protect from heat damage. On the down side, my hair doesn't really curl like it use to unless it's just been cut.

OMG, I had a friend in High School, who actually ironed her hair. I thought she was crazy. She had super thick curly hair and would lay her head on the ironing board lowered on the floor and iron her hair. Eventually it damaged it due to the high heat. So just make sure you dont scorch your hair by leaving the iron in one spot to long. And yes serums is a must!!

Thank you everyone! Im going to look into the glass irons. P.S. I took my CHI to florida with me this year and it kept my hair unfrizzed. I would shower in the morning, go to the pool and then come in and get dressed to go eat...Since i had washed my hair already and didn't wet it in the pool it just needed touching up. I would use the CHI on it and wella.....looked like i just came out of the salon... That to me is worth spending a lot on.

I my flat iron. Lovely had exactly the advice I would have given. Use a serum first (something with silk in it is what I prefer). Make sure your hair is TOTALLY dry first.

My iron is gold... I've never used a ceramic one.

I wonder what that's like??
