I hadn't noticed, by my goldians built a hidden nest in the aviary. They must have layed 12 eggs in this thing. A donation from all the females, with one daddy bird sitting on the eggs! Well in the last few days, I've seen a few dead babies on the ground. It was pretty much a free for all as far as the birds pitching them from the nest. I had to narrow them down to 4 healthy eggs. A few hours ago, I found a baby on the floor. He must have hatched this morning and was pitched. I warmed him up, fed him, and now he is under a light bulb in a container. I put a small purple disc under him/her. It will be touch and go for a few days. Wish him luck! I'll have to feed him every two hours, but I have done this before. It's very difficult trying to feed them when they are so small, you have to make sure you don't put food down their lungs. He's less than a half inch big. Keep you all posted! IP: Logged |
