I grew up barefoot in the summertime, because I hated shoes. I used to be able to run barefoot on gravel, and step on thistle, and it wouldn't bother me. I remember the feel of the warm, soft soil on my bare feet, the warm sun, and the smell of fresh soil along with trees heavy in bloom, along with the total greenery of spring all at once. Then along would come Papa, planting corn behind me with a big smile, proud his 9 year old only son had tilled his first field alone. If ever there was a glimpse of Heaven, that moment captures it for me. IP: Logged
