So I hadnt cut my hair in a long time, usually I'd just go in and get a bald fade or such..something simple and Denzel Washington....lol. but lately, I had this feeling to just let it grow...of course it being so curly, i had to put something in it to keep it moist and soft.

during this process I would just put a cap on top of it, and later take it off to let my head breath. I would then sit watching SCI FI or something and just pick at my hair, i noticed the twirling of the coils and then someone said, "man its time to get those Hair LOCKS" or as some would call them DREAD LOCKS. the only thing there are very different

Dread Locks are when you just let the hair do its own thing. for those that have very coiled hair, just leaving it alone for months...the coil will turn into one another and grow, locking at about 6 months to a year. then it just grows and grows giving you the wisdom of Solomon and the Look of Moses...lol.

so anyway, i would just play with the hair and feel all these strong strands that were coiling like a piggys tail. I knew that i would get Hair locks soon, but i was very afraid.

shoot!!! i was going to explain Dreads and locks, but i got off the subject. Dreads were giving that name, when the Europeans saw the men in the Bahama with long locked and MATTED hair, Dreads are just grown wild, nothing done to them.

LOCKS...HAIR LOCKS are a different story. you go to someone or if your patient and have very strong arm and neck muscles, well you twirl them yourself and have them maintained by a professional so that they dont end up matted and looking like DREAD LOCKS.

Many americans are styling Hair Locks and not Dreads.

well i had a consultation Saturday morning, I must tell you I was so afraid. Being a man, I usually just go in, sit and they cut it all off, giving me the jabbering look of a baby boy, but now i had to go in for a "CONSULTATION...."

I thought, "HECK, this is just hair, why a consultation?" I started to worry about the wool cap that i have been wearing and many Utahns looking at me and thinking, "DUDE, thats like a winter cap!" what if all these women started to laugh at me..my spongy, dry, dandruff nappy hair. it was too much to think about.

as i arrived wearing my blue superman shirt, i came into the salon where the woman had me sit in a chair, i took off the hat, showing the news worms of Medusa, just hair all over the place, short, but bushy and wacked..lol.

the Beautician took her hands and parted my hair, i could feel her fingers touching my coils and playing with them as she tried to figure if my hair twisted clock wise or counter...and then she said....

"Oh your hair is going to LOCK so good, you got good thick hair"

THis huge smile came over my face, i know it was there, cause all the other woman started to smile at this man's boyish smile, and i just got giddy, or as shelly would say, "STOKED!"

I have a appointment this tues and i am going through this new and wanting transformation that has been calling to me for awhile. i am very excited to turn my hair back to a natural and spiritual (inner) s ELF..its just amazing which way the wind can blow sometimes...its 5 am, mountain US time, i need to get my big booty to bed.

TA TA....Clarice

awwww, you're so cute!
I love 'hair-locks' or dreadlocks.
I am aware that it is different, but I used to hang around peole who'd follow around the Grateful Dead, and so developed a bit of a taste for men who had them. They used to collect beads from their travels and incorporate them.
I am excited for you.. ( Although yes, they were of the matted variety...)
I always wanted them too, and I have naturally curly, coiled hair ( though not as tight as yours it would seem) But I could never do it in actuality. So I commend you.
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!

SUE..AND Everyone, yes i will put a picture up for ya to see me ugly mug..lol.

for any that dont know, what you will see will be baby locks, they will be shot and maybe stubby. in 4-6 months they will become teenager locks...they will be rebellious and wild, all over the place and out of control like those kiddys...lol, then as time goes..by a year, they will lock up from twirling into one another and i wont be able to take them apart...if i change my mind about them, i would have to shave my head. so adult comes and they just grow grow grow, and then old man locks..they are pretty much down, but they still grow from your scalp, but its more loose hair...this is why alot of people that have long ones are seen wearing scars and such around there head, close to the forehead...it thins out. but the girl said i got thick ol bushy hair, so maybe i will still look wonderful...lol.

as they say in Cali..I am so STOKED!!! lol.

Svetlana, I was going to ask what your name meant, thanks for asking greycat, and that girl....the one that TALKSTOTREES..I got your email...lol.

so i havent been on here in a while..my grandma passed on, and i flew out to IL on the 4th and returned early the 14th (originally coming back on the 17th) it was a long journey..first person that close to me that passed on.

So funny we use to talk about Linda and such. granny introducing me (secretly to the books) to them, and as time went on she strayed more toward the whole astrology thing being evil and all. funny how the age thing and death makes people think that they are going to be slapped by GOD, so in there last days they start to get to that point of praising God. though Phyllis always praised GOD no matter what else..lol. my mom is a JW and they did the memorial for my grandma, adn the guy said "Miss Sharpe was very into the truth, she would raise her hand to every question if she wanted to know...." well if you know my grandmother the raising of the hand was more like this: "what do you mean Jesus did this..i dont remember reading that in the bible...your going to burn if you change those words....!!!" she was a spit fire!!!

so i got my hair done...before i left. before she passed on, and then she passed away and i got a twist up again before i left. and then i worked my butt off and lost all this weight in the garage and yard. it was a mess, i felt really guilty being so far away and not being able to help her, but i really felt bad not being close to her for so long. didnt really get to say bye except on the phone where we both said we loved each other.

sooooo, i got them done and here are some pictures. the first one its just done, the second one i got retwisted before i went to IL, and the last one is what i have now...new hair is growing in and need to see the beautician.

one other thing while i was flying i had a connecting flight in MN, there and back..on the way back, i stopped at this deli and had a salmon salad, as i ate and looked around at all the people doodledaddling away, this guy came in and started to eat at a table...i tried to get a picture of him, but he was moving too much and my camera is terrible at catching blurs, but i think it was him...cause as soon as i took the picture, he skootadiddled out of there faster than vixen!!!! LOL
