I went to the library Monday, and saw a few of his books. I've never read him before, but heard of him. So, I checked out 'Breakfast of Champions'. I'm liking it. As more of a non-fiction reader, I can say he has a very unique style of writing I like. Any thoughts or recommendations?

Yup. My recommendation: read more of his stuff. He's awesome.

Fantastic stuff.
He always makes me feel happy and light
(Yes, I know he's not the most "happy and light" writer around.)

Well, being about halfway through, I'm feeling "happy and light"....hmmm.

'He had a point. The planet was being destroyed by manufacturing processes, and what was being manufactured was lousy, by and large.'

'I had given him a life not worth living, but I had also given him an iron will to live. This was a common combination on the planet earth.'

Yea, this is a real sunshine book isn't it?

Yes, I plan on reading more of his books.

Thanks Yin! I'll look for it next time I'm riding to the city, Kansas City that is. I love these industrial puppets we elect.

Ooops, wrong title.
"Deadeye Dick" is the correct one. Maybe your library has an online catalog that allows you to reserve books electronically? (Sorry, job defect, I'm a librarian )

Well, I'm enjoying Breakfast of Champions so far. Poor Dwayne Hoover and his 'bad chemicals'!

I'm wondering, is this book the cause for graffiti saying "Kilgore was here."?

Well, I've finished 'Breakfast of Champions'. The ending took a little concentration on my part, where Vonnegut actually installs himself into the book, when trying to contact Kilgore Trout after Dwayne Hoover went on his rampage.

I'd like to find 'Slaughterhouse 5', which the library doesn't have. 'Timequake' is there though. How's that one?

Question: Did Vonnegut write 'Harrison Bergeron'? I remember reading that in high school. Cool idea. Everyone is 'made' equal by the government.

Later Yin!

I started "Timequake" but couldn't get into it. Again I have to be in the right mood for that.
"Slaughterhouse 5" is a great one too, but expect some very dark humor about some very real dark events right after WWII in Germany.
Here is "Harrison Bergeron" http://instruct.westvalley.edu/lafave/hb.html

Maybe your library can request "Slaughterhouse 5" for you so you don't have to buy it? Ask them, they(the librarians) are there to help
