**Boodredmoon-
Hello! My thoughts and prayers are with your family!!**

Thank you

**btw- I lived in Lufkin for about 11 years.
My parents have very good friends in Woodville. We used to eat at a place called the Picket House. The best food ever. Do you know if it is still there?**

I definitely don't know because I've only been back to Kirbyville to visit a few times since I moved away about 20 years ago now. But my mother might now. She works at a restaurant in Jasper sometimes. I'll try to remember to ask her when I call her in a couple hours.

I just got off the phone with her. I could hear the wind in the background. It's raining some there now and the gusts are starting.

I hope your family is o.k.!? We have tried to contact our friends but have not heard.
It has been 23 years since I lived there myself. I remember going there as a child. It was all "the sticks" when i lived there. probably still is ha ha lol. That restaurant seved everything family style... people would come from miles around... It's funny the stuff you can't forget.. Hope all is well!!!

Yup yup I heard from my mom late Saturday night.

They don't have power, of course, and probably won't for quite some time. I feel horrible for them considering it's so HOT there - a high of 90 degrees there today.

So she, my sister and my grandmother are fine! All of the animals are fine, too, although Apache (the German Shepherd) won't stop following 2 feet behind my mom now. My mum says it was literally a MIRACLE no trees fell on the house considering 5 of her oak trees are gone now. One of them broke completely in half and the other 4 were uprooted and there are 10 feet of roots up in the air now.

They have also acquired the neighbor's oak tree which is sitting in her backyard. The house held up okay, though. She drove into town (the roundabout way because the usual way was blocked by trees) and she said a few buildings collapsed in on themselves and that it was just a mess.

Crazy stuff!!

Unfortunately, I can't get through to her phone again after trying several times yesterday. I just feel bad for them because of the heat. I hope they don't have to wait weeks for it to come back on.

She took lots of photos but of course can't send them to me until power and internet is back up.

Sorry I completely forgot to ask her about the restaurant. I will when things calm down more and I can actually get in touch with her again!

I am but I missed your post

I'm actually happy because one good thing's come from the hurricane. My mum, grandma and little sister are coming to LA to stay for a few days (they are driving across the country seeing lots of relatives on the way because their power/water will be out for a couple more weeks still in Texas). They'll be here on Fri or Sat.

I haven't seen my mom and sister in 4 years and I haven't seen my grandma since I was a kid!!
