Who is your favorite composer ever? Past or Present? I like different kinds of music, but my favorite music is that of old times. My favorite composer is Chopin followed by Mozart, with Nocutnre Music and Symphony #40 my all time favorites. Vivaldi's Spring from the Four Seasons is up there on my list as well

Wow! I have so many depending on my mood.
Mozart is a god to me, #1. Enya is probably #2. Bach would be #3. Chaikovskiy, Vivaldi, Glinka, Verdi, Mendelson and so many more. Modern- mostly composers writing movie music: Ribnikov, Rota and more. I love "New Age" music, techno, baroque music. I also love folk musik esp Irish, French, Russian of course.

I have to check out the New Age section, it sounds cool. I forgot to add Beethoven's Fur Elise and Moonlight Sonata. Most of Bach's pieces calm me. Modern, I like Miles Davis.

My favourite composer in the traditional sense of the word is Nobuo Uematsu. He composes clasical sounding music for videogames. Which is much, much better than the description makes it sound. Most of his work is released on soundtrack CD and there are some truly amazing pieces - check out 'Aeris' Theme' for one.

I have a deep respect for composers and for professional musicians. I love the classics as well:

Tchaikovsky #4
Mahler's First
Carl Orf's Carmina burana
Beethoven's Fifth & Tenth
Mozart's Elvira Madigan
Chopin's Grand Polonaise
Brahms

I am learning to grow from the classics ~ into living and expressing the present world that we live in. Kronos Quartet embodies that spirit I aspire to, as does Philip Glass. I enjoy Gershwin.

Jazz is a form of classical music, in my humble opinion. It is a living artwork of both musical instruments and American voice. Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, John Coltrane and Miles Davis come to mind. Duke Ellington was an amazing composer ~ I suggest listening to Caravan.
