That's a good one, too. The best I can figure is that mathematically there's half a square unit unaccounted for.Volume of a triangle with a 90 degree angle in it is half whatever the square or rectangle would be if you joined it with a matching triangle. So, in easy terms it's: 13 x 5 = 65 65/2 = 32.5 The total volume of the triangle is 32.5 sq. units. The inside shapes only total 32 sq. units. The box shapes are 7 & 8, and the triangles are 12 & 5. Those only total 32. I can only guess that it's an optical illusion. IP: Logged |
