Make it something grandiose, so he'll be set if he ever wants to conquer the galaxy or something. Galactic conquerers are only as good as their names.

"I am GLAXXOR, DEVOURER OF WORLDS!!"

Or maybe Ralph.

Zenwarner,

I kinda like Boo. Boo Rattely has such a nice goth ring to it - don't you think? But I could live without the name Scout.

wow wow wow wow everyone!

I was going to let this one keep accumulating awesome names before commenting at all.... and without taking any specialness away from any other names.. there have been some great ones offered!!!!

Glaxxor it is, johnny.. thank you!!!
( You're so friggin hilarious!)

But I had to say...Harpyr; Owen Gabriel is almost what we have as our front runner.
Cohen/Coen Gabriel, or Cian(kee-an) ( still trying to convince hubby)

This is hard, good thing I still have a while!!!!

Thank you!!! Keep them coming!!
I love all these suggestions! ( I am writing them down)

oo I knew it!!

We'd seriously considered the name Owen and when I remembered it and put it with Gabriel in my head it just had a certain ring to it and I knew you'd love it. It's such a wonderful name. My son Quinn probably would have had that name if I hadn't felt weird about it at first. You see, it was the name of my first crush ever, in Kindergarten. I ended up going to school with the guy through high school and just felt weird about giving my son that name because of that. Now that I've had time to ruminate about it though, I kind of wish I hadn't had that reservation and used that name instead. Quinn's father loved the name because his favorite book was A Prayer for Owen Meany. He really wanted to use that name but I nixed it. We settled on Quinn only because it was the only name we could agree we both liked. Ah well.. atleast Q has a cool song to go with his name.

Anyhoo.. I'm holding on to Owen for any future son, I think. Cohen and Cian are great too. Isn't Cian related to the Gaelic word Keir? I remember liking the name Keir and that it meant 'black'. I love Gaelic names. My daughter's middle name is Rhiannon.
Golly, I love name choosing.. it's one of my favorite parts of having a baby!

Pixie, my daughter named our third beta fish Cohen Strawberry. I have no idea where she got Cohen, but it looks like our fish has a good name.

EOGHAN: Old Celtic name possibly meaning "born from the yew tree."

EOIN: Irish/Gaelic form of John, meaning "God is gracious."

Owen is a fantastic name. I desperately wanted a Celtic name myself (I'm English and Scottish and Welsh) but they just didn't sound right with my husband's excessively Italian surname.

The famous Irish Owen of Ferney was a SOB - he killed the hero Naisi. But there's a Welsh Owen who, according to one of Merlin's prophecies, lies under an enchanted sleep and will awaken to drive the Saxon invaders from Wales once and for all. Here's hoping anyway

ahem .. sorry ... I have a mild obssession with Celtic history.

Hi pixelpixie
Owen is actually pretty trendy in last years- 60th place in US(2005), 36th place in England(2005) and even the 15th place in Canada(2005) for male babies.
I have used a random name generator and my suggestion is
Benjamin (even trendier than Owen :laughing
you will find a lot of infos about the names here www.behindthename.com

Jan A~
Thanks !!!
I am laughing so hard, because I have obsessively been on name sites for weeks... and that's my favourite one!
And even yesetrday, I joked about it being trendy.. but trendy or not, it's a classic...
I love the baby site that gives you most popular names by era.. I tend to hang out at the 1920's section, checking out the obscure ones. I like 'Everett' it's been around for ever, and it's making a comeback to social consciousness... but not as much as others...
I love that names keep cycling in and out of popularity.
There are a few that are tops in my opinion... but none that work with all in family....
It's a hard decision, which is why I posted this thread too.. and I still have half way to go.
Thanks for posting that site and that info... great stuff! And yeah, It's my fave!
Sue, I like that alternative spelling! I don't thin kanyone would have a clue how to pronounce it here... not a lot of celts around.

Tink.. I'll bet your boy has an awesome name!

My girl name we all agree on.. Simone Eden. ( I love the name Lily too)
But, it's a lovely little man. So off i go to check out more.
I'll find the perfect one.. but right now, i can't enjoy books or magazines.. I just pore over them for unusual names.lol.

Zen~ We're in love with that name, and the more I'vebeen mulling it over, the more i think that's the one.

So... Everett Gabriel it is.

At least, that's what we're at now.
If something jumps out and calls to us later, we'll cross that bridge.....

This is a hard job.. something that is strong, not too popular, but pleasant sounding, so he will have an easier time... something that is at once acceptable for a child, yet will grow with them...
Everett seems like a little gentleman .. and smart. It was popular back when my name was popular, so I'll share that with him.

I'm ok with Everett. At least he can be an adult with that name. (I'm not too into the names that are perfect for kids but terrible for adults.)
