The cover artwork of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is out!

ooooooo...aaaaaaaaa am so excited!

In the American edition, the cover has a grown-up-looking Harry, against the backdrop of an orange-gold sky. In the artwork by Mary Grandpre, who illustrated all the six previous US editions, Harry is looking up at something in the sky.

In the British edition, it shows Harry, Hermione and Ron leaping out of a treasure-filled circle, fear written large on their faces. But, that dear Potter fan, is the kids' edition. This cover is by Jason Cockroft, who illustrated Half-Blood Prince and Order of the Phoenix.

The adult British edition has a locket with intricate carvings. Whispers in cyberspace say it could be Slytherin's locket.

So go ahead, and let your theories flow!

By the way, whispers in cyberspace also indicate that Harry having his mother's eyes will be an important plot point. Wait and see.

I hope it inspires more Leos here to start writing. Epic stories, when well received, are very lucrative.

Even more curious is the full length art.. Harry and He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named both appear to be looking apprehensively at something out of sight, instead of at each other as we would expect if they were in such close proximity...

Quite curious indeed.

I actually had a dream about that bookcover last night. It had to do with solving some sort of strange riddle that involved the book cover.

I saw my first movie preview of the order of the phoenix last night, when watching happy feet with the kids. I'm excited about that, but even more excited now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can get my potter fix.

and who knew happy feet had an important environmental message!? I honestly didn't. and was touched.

I think its Kreacher, J.K Rowling had told the makers of the movie 'Order Of Phoenix' tht creature has an important role to play in the ending so it should be there in the movie....

I cant wait for the final book to come!!!

Scholastic Inc., publisher of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, announced that the 784-paged book will be more environmentally friendly.

In agreement with the Rainforest Alliance, Deathly Hollows pages will contain a minimum of 30% post consumer waste fiber. In addition, 2/3 of the paper will be approved by the Forest Stewardship Council. In their news statement, Scholastic claimed that, "This historic commitment is the largest purchase of FSC-certified paper to be used in the printing of a single book title."

Scholastic also announced that there will be a special deluxe edition of the book that will be printed entirely on 100% recycled paper.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows comes out July 21, 2007. The first printing contains 12 million copies.

In 2005, Green Peace and the National Wildlife Federation called for a boycott of Scholastic's Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Price, encouraging fans to buy from the Canadian publisher Raincoast Books, which printed the book on 100% post-consumer recycled paper. Said one environmental conservationist, "If we get Harry Potter and the Bible, that pretty much covers the best sellers. Scholastic has failed to really meaningfully step forward to have Harry printed on the most environmentally friendly paper that it can be."

In response to Scholastic's announcement, Greenpeace forest campaign coordinator Scott Paul said, "In Europe and Canada, the past several editions of the Harry Potter series have been printed on forest-friendly paper, per the wishes of J.K. Rowling. Many of the Harry Potter fans worldwide have been able to enjoy the books on FSC-certified paper, and it's great news that Rowling's American readers can enjoy the final installment of Harry Potter while playing a part in responsible forest management."

The Rainforest Alliance is an international organization that works with businesses to improve the environment. Their stated mission is "to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior. Companies, cooperatives and landowners that participate in our programs meet rigorous standards that conserve biodiversity and provide sustainable livelihoods."

The Rainforest Alliance certifies forestlands to FSC standards. They worked directly with Scholastic to procure the nearly 22 million pounds of paper for the printing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows.

Don't want to spoil the plot for anyone, but I'm guessing that Voldemort is going to be permanently killed in this book, (I mean what else could happen) and someone is going to have to sacrifice their life to kill him, possibly Harry, but more likely it will be Ron or Hermione. My prediction is that Dumbledore will come back, that his death was feigned somehow.

Tell you what: Everyone and I mean EVERYONE dies in book 7! (And if they don't - they should) Now how is that for a good finale?

...if only J.K.Rowling would pull a "Lemony Snicket"...
