Good point that you make about Lane Bryant, MoonWitch. Didn't think about that but you are right. There used to be a store in the mall here whose clothes did not go past a size 9. In my younger days I used to shop there because it was the only store where I could get jeans that fit. It was never crowded and it didn't stay in business long. There is still a Lane Bryant store in the mall and malls everywhere. They also do a huge catalog business. That should be a big clue to Kate Moss. I only care as far as the message it is sending out to young girls. That's my only concern here regarding Kate Moss and her line of clothes. IP: Logged |

And to add on to what Mirandee just said its actually wrong and dangerous to advocate something like that. It can have really bad effects on one's body. A physician would know the solution to help someone who unhealthily overweight (note the emphasis on unhealthily). Now it is wrong to advocate such a thing and the reason is basically Human Biology 101: the less you eat, the more strongly your body holds onto your weight as opposed you losing the weight.

By fat i mean any girl over 11 stone. I weigh 11 stone. I am over 6 foot tall. I don't see why any girl can be heavier than me and not be obese. If she is taller than 6 foot she is too tall. Those are my own personal standards in broad terms.

Very true DL what you said about biology 101. You have to eat to keep the body functioning properly. That's why anorexics eventually die if they can't overcome it with help. Fasting will cause weight lost for sure. At first. But once the body has used up the fat storage supply it looks for other sources to maintain itself with the protein etc. it needs. Our body's defense mechanisms kick in to keep us alive any way it can. Those other sources are the organs of the body such as the heart, liver etc. The body actually feeds on itself. I am no expert in biology but my doctor educated me very well on the effects of anorexia when I sought help because I could actually no longer eat without having an axiety attack. At the time I was 5'6 and weighed 95 lbs. 120-130 lbs. is a healthy, normal weight range for my bone structure. I think that many of the health issues that I have today are a result of that starvation time in my life. And that period of my life was just awful. A nightmare. What is a stone translated into lbs. MCM? Truthfully I don't know. I am an American dummy. LOL You must be British. Funny how you Brits call your money lbs. and your weight stones. But you must think we are weird too. IP: Logged |

LOL MCM. Now I will have to get my husband to figure that out in pounds. He's the math genius in the family. Thanks. I didn't know that Lane Bryant had changed it's name, Fayte. Thanks for the info. I have to stop shopping at Wal*Marts. Actually I jest because Wal*Mart has lousy clothes. I can never find anything decent there. Must be the slave labor they employ. IP: Logged |

quote: No, now that is largely incorrect. Not all earth is like that. You see, saturn the planet of restriction, the opposite of Juipter's expansionism, rules Capricorn. Therefore, people who have a significant Capricorn or Saturn placement in their chart (like in the top three) have a propensity to be wiry, not fat . And that again, is saturn being "restrictive" on weight as opposed to being expansive like Jupiter.Virgo influence tends to have the same effect as Capricorn being ruled by Mercury.....people heavily influenced by it are thin much like their gemini counterparts.
well thats true, i am virgo rising and i'm not fat to say the least, and also Naomi Campbell is Capricorn Rising. well i hope i'm not on anyone's fat list, don't mean to sound vain at all, but i'm actually quite happy with my size, i'm 5'4, 139lb, 24.5(waist), 34.5 hip, & 38B, i'm satisfied with (most) of my genetics and astrological makeup, along with being proportioned right. Its weird because i'm not skinny, i'm a bit thin, and no where near fat, i consider myself curvy i guess.

Don't feel bad DL - I'd rank on her fat list too. What's worse, I don't eat a lot. I guess I'm reaching that age where weight doesn't just fall off with minimal effort. I have a friend whose family genetics just works against her. Her entire family is extremely tall and built large. Basically, she eats a candy bar and gains ten pounds. She went vegetarian to try and keep weight off. When we were in HS she employed the "Meth Diet" (that was incidentally the only time she was "thin")... She's also become an exercise fanatic to try and keep her weight down (to little avail). By some people's estimation of how "fat people" get and stay fat, she and her whole family must just be a bunch of lazy people who don't care about themselves. Staying anywhere near a "healthy" weight is a very real, constant, daily struggle for her. So before people look at someone who is obese and just assume they're lazy and don't care about themselves, or whatever other stereotypes are out there floating around about "fat" people, they might want to take a pause and consider that not all "fat" people are just lazy a$$ses who sit around gorging on Twinkies all day long. i encourge you guys to calculate your BMI's if you haven't already, should give a good idea of your needed health priorities: http://www.rush.edu/rumc/page-1108048103230.html you can do it at that website, mine is 23.7 (considered healthy at 5'4) i'm kind of near the weighty side, i've always considered myself voluptuous though, although i do question the BMI system since it is one thing all across the board, and since i'm of black/caribbean heritage, people from different parts of the world are shaped differently, so i feel as if it may not be an ideal measure of what is right. But i could be wrong. IP: Logged |

neptune5 Your link: http://www.rush.edu/rumc/page-1108048103230.html Puts me at 26.1 That is incorrect for me at 152 pounds due to muscle mass. At 152.8 I had 0% body fat. That chart is fine if you are of average build and average muscle mass. However if you have large muscles and broad shoulders, etcetera, that chart is worthless. So be careful folks when relying on that type of chart unless you are average. At 180 I was (approx)45-32-35; with F/G cup. I feel great at that weight. And except for being top heavy, I looked quite trim and muscular then. ------------------ ~Judgement Must Be Balanced With Compassion~ ~Do Not Seek Wealth From The Suffering, Or The Dire Needs Of Others~ ~Assumption Is The Bane Of Understanding~ }><}}}(*> <*){{{><{ ~~~ ~~ ~~~~ ~~~ ~~ ~~~~~ ~~~ ~~~~ ~~~ IP: Logged |

Well, thank you! To some people I'm fat! I guess that shows the state of things when average women are considered FAT and the small percentage of people that are naturally (or unnaturally as the case may be) skinny are considered the ideal. I think that's sad. There's room for all of us, dammit. - and room for all kinds of designers. I just wish an unrealistic ideal wasn't always thrust at us. OH and I'm teetering between a 12T and a 14T at Lane Bryant. I love their tall pants - thank all that's good. Lane Bryant is awesome. AWESOME.

Yep you're on it. 5 foot 4'' and 11 stone is obese. But at least you've made the first step to 'recovery' by admitting you're on my list. Next step is hardly eating anything, and stop that boozing you piglet!

Actually did my BMI. Turns out I'm not obese at all, I'm only slightly overweight.Too bad for you quote: am at least double your weight so to me you are a thin lady! Sounds like a perfect weight for you and you look great in your pictures
Thanks Fayte! But look so pretty yourself, with those nice eyes! Though I'm afraid it been bad for my back at night since I gained it in such a short period of time. Though, I think the only places I've noticeably gained are around my mid-drift and my hips; because other than that....no one has noticed. I'm goaling to go back to atleast 140lbs. quote: Don't feel bad DL - I'd rank on her fat list too. What's worse, I don't eat a lot. Thanks Isis, but for me it was bad eating habits. I've gained 20 pounds within a span of 6 months. Back in September I weighed like 128 lbs! What had happened is that I switched to a State College that happens to be like 5 minutes away from the mall. Now that Mall happens to have some GREAT Indian food and I kept going there for some everytime I had a lunch break last semester. Indian food in and of itself is not even bad for you (its actually very healthy for you, along with Southeast Asian food if you go to the right restaurant). But it was the portions they serve you there that did me in. That coupled with the fact that I've been having BIG traditional meals at lunchtime since my gramps arrived in on the 29th of Nov. We usually only have them at dinner. And also, I've suddenly acquired this big sweet tooth (that's T-Jupiter opposing my Venus as I've found out). I had to go get my first Cavity filled. Oh man..... But I agree with you about overweight people and people's perceptions about them. I HATE it when people always assume that its because their lazy and don't want to do nothing. I know that in some cases that may be it, but not always.....or not even most of the time. I know there are alot who desperately try to lose the weight.

Dulce Luna Thank you! Remember, that BMI chart does not take into account your muscle or bone structure, unless you are average. Man I sure wish overeating was my problem! THAT I could take care of having done it before. My weight is related to nerological and messed up hormonal and endocrine issues. Too many bedridden times and not being able to walk unassisted. And menopause certainly is not helping. But I keep plugging away at it. And do what I can to keep my muscles under all the padding. But the most important thing I believe is love yourself at whatever size you are! Do not wait to do things or try to look nice until you get thin. Make the best of what you have to work with at any weight! Thin or fat! And like I said, those BMI charts only work on folks of average build and muscles. My son for example is well over 6 feet tall. According to that chart he is 35 pounds overweight! But in reality he has the perfect abdominals, and is very very thin looking. Far from actually needing to lose any weight as that BMI chart says.------------------ ~Judgement Must Be Balanced With Compassion~ ~Do Not Seek Wealth From The Suffering, Or The Dire Needs Of Others~ ~Assumption Is The Bane Of Understanding~ }><}}}(*> <*){{{><{ ~~~ ~~ ~~~~ ~~~ ~~ ~~~~~ ~~~ ~~~~ ~~~ IP: Logged |
