Don't have time for a nice rambling dissertation, but methinks we ARE fettered to the needs of this physical vehicle that our *Real* selves are sequestered within..... IP: Logged |

"I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them.I am free because I alone am morally responsible for everything I do."-Robert Heinlein Does this make sense to you? If not, I'll share my life experience that inspires me to adopt this as freedom. Freedom isn't something anyone can give you. Even in an anarchist society, you'd have to claim freedom for yourself. I agree with what is being said here. We are free to choose how we deal with situations we are in. http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/002693.html IP: Logged |

I read an interesting article yesterday about indecision. It was talking about how people had less to choose from 40 or 50 years ago, but they were happier than we are today. The article kind of contended that the preponderance of choices available now actually kind of stresses some people out, because some people feel compelled to spend loads of time trying to figure out the best decision to make (usually the best product to buy) while neglecting the simple questions like, "Will this do?"It's interesting that less choices can equal greater freedom (in that there won't be all the time wasted on ensuring you make the right choice). True Freedom is an illusion in this so called life. You will always be a slave of one thing or another. We are all but slaves to our own body. IP: Logged |
