Now I know people are gonna hate me for this but... I am down right illergic to Harry Potter and the likes Lol! Don't get me wrong, I love the fanstasy genere (some of the best books I have read are fantasy related.) But Harry Potter gets a thumbs down from me.I don't know... Maybe its because I have supressed neglected and down right abused my inner child to the point where he does not speaks to me anymore. Or maybe because I am just tired of 20 yr' olds putting pics like these on the Fragdood message board Lol! http://i12.tinypic.com/5xsy0w4.jpg IP: Logged |

Xodian ~Don't feel bad for being allergic, dude When the series first came out I refused to read them, thinking it was just the newest pop-fad-kiddie thing..... but once I started reading them, I got hooked -- Order of the Phoenix: WHOA!!! They are magical books!! Suspend Your Disbelief!! And best of all, the books are condemned and banned by radical Christian fanatics!! Magic is the work of the Devil!!! On page 180 now, and shock after shock t/g cusp, what did you go and do -- ignore your loved ones for a whole day with your nose stuck in the book?? IP: Logged |

I still have to read the Order of the Phoenix and then the Half Blooded Prince; I've been slacking on my Harry Potter reading...bad girl. Regretably, I was dragged to go see the 5th movie last weekend w/ my sister before I could even finish the damn book. Grrrrr.I had Christian friends whose families wouldn't allow them to read these books because of the witchcraft factor....strange. IP: Logged |

Finished it yesterday evening. With the time zone differences, I finished it before most people got one in the states. Haven't spoiled it for anyone, though. Just waiting for hubby to finish it so we can dissect it. Waiting impatiently. I loved it, really, it was great but I don't like the way it ended. Not that it was/wasn't a "good" or "bad" ending ... it was just the way everything wrapped up in the end wasn't enough. Not for me, at least. I want more! BTW, I used to work at a bookstore and hated the series just because of all the people coming in constantly asking for the new book (book 3 at the time, I believe) and the giant displays, etc. But eventually, I picked it up out of sheer curious annoyance ... anything making so many kids (and adults and teens) read so much and be so impatient for more couldn't be all bad, I thought. I am so glad I did! No regrets except that, if I hadn't gotten involved with the series, I wouldn't be feeling so sad now that it's over. But it was definitely worth it! - unabashed Harry Potter fanatic IP: Logged |

I never finished the 5th book. My aunt has the 7th one though. She was completely psyched when it came in the mail. She actually kissed the box it came in... it was weird. IP: Logged |

Thank God someone else has finished it - I was begining to think I was some kind of freak. I am in UK, got mine at midnight on friday/saturday and finished it Sunday morning - and that was pacing myself, making myself take breaks to do the washing, hoover etc. Yeah, I'm still digesting though, not sure what my verdict is. I won't give anything anyway except to say I agree with Eleanore - the ending wasn't enough for me either... I look forward to the Prequel now or maybe some spin-offs - oh come on she's got do it hasn't she?! IP: Logged |

I can understand why she wrote the Epilogue and the way she just stuffed it with those interesting(? for lack of a better yet not too descriptive word) things ... but it was such a ripoff, imo. That was the part I liked least because it was so rushed but, at the same time, I'm so glad I know what happened there. I was pleasantly surprised by some of it and, after all that happened in the story, glad that the things that were worked out in the Epilogue went the way they did. (SO hard to talk about it without saying, "hey, remember when [blank] happened?") Spin offs, prequels, give us something more, please! But she's been writing her hands off for the past ... what? 14 years or more? As long as it's not a wait like it was for the Silmarillion with Tolkien, I think I'll be able to handle it. Just an extra 2 Knuts of mine.

Fascinating that Rowling appears to be into Lexigramming (the name the Dark Lord gave himself)..... Is there a thread on that in the Lexi forum, Eleanore??TOM MARVOLO RIDDLE I AM LORD VOLDEMORT And now that we've been provided with exact birthdates from Harry's parents' headstones in Godric's Hollow, we can do a synastry chart James Potter - 3/27/60 Lily Potter - 1/30/60 quote: As long as it's not a wait like it was for the Silmarillion with Tolkien, I think I'll be able to handle it.
That was 22 years from RotK to Silmarillion Spending 12 years, yearning and slavering and reading fan-fic, between The Plains of Passage and The Shelters of Stone..... man, that was interminable!!! IP: Logged |

There is a rumor that this is the last of the Harry Potter books and that Harry is "killed off" in this book. Of course if you tell me the rumor is true then I guess you would be telling the ending. So I will just have to wait until my daughter in law and grand daughter finish reading the book. They are Harry Potter fanatics too and have read all the books. My daughter in law stood in line late at night at Borders Books to get the new book. I don't read the books but our grand kids have both myself and my husband hooked on the movies. We have seen Harry Potter in the person of Daniel Radicliff ( sp.?) grow up. I am sure he would like to go on and do different parts as an actor. Question is can he now? Once an actor gets that typecasted in a role people tend to think of him as Harry Potter and it makes it difficult to see him any other way. In fact, I guess Daniel Radicliff is already trying to branch out as a actor and do different roles. He made a movie recently in which he did a nude scene and the reaction of people to that suggests that he is going to have some difficulty overcoming his Harry Potter personna. IP: Logged |
