HD ~The Nova-Cura is definitely a step down (off with their heads for those curtains in the saloon!! ) Elsie May is definitely the Cadillac (XK?? Bentley??) of the group (except for the dark red paint job on the bow ) IP: Logged |

Doesn't EVERYONE??? Ahhh, mahogany and teak..... they don't make 'em like they used to..... quote: triviatta note .. some of the 'north sea' used to be dry land .. connecting to mainland europe .. .. they figure that the land bridge was how the first humans arrived on this island ..
Fascinating spiral The English Channel -- Before the Pleistocene, the British Isles were probably connected to the mainland. Submerged valleys hint at a former continuation of the Rhine out onto the North Sea shelf, with the Thames and probably the Elbe as tributaries. IP: Logged |

Ooooh!!! Did we?? Well, we haven't talked enough about her yet Ahem, what's this "when you were 'little' stuff?? Two of my faves besides Merlin: Sir Julian and Max were two of my favorite heroes -- "This rough magic I here abjure....." still practically makes me burst into tears..... Sir Julian was undeniably Leo, yes?? I say Scorpio for Max K'Z IP: Logged |

Seriously! Haven't read a book by MS since I was 12 or so. I am inspired to revisit that territory now though. Airs above the Ground.... That was about Lipizaner [sp?] stallions correct? I believe it was that book that had me beg my mother to see them when they toured the States..... @ that time, the 'star' of the show was the Black Stallion from the movie of the same name. Oy that takes me back. But I don't want to hijack HD's thread here...seems like a nice chap. I was looking thru the Castles link [of course] And thinking about all the great single malt hooch I could "sample" whilst there. Laughs And the Bridge 'Morphed' into it's current connotation from the incarceration of Casanova ... I believe. *edited to add Scarbourogh Castle looks quite like the one in the first Highlander movie....12th C. too........Dunrobin Castle http://www.hauntedplaces.co.uk/dunrobin.htm Location ofthe haunted place: Sutherland, Scotland
Origin of the haunting: Unknown Background: The Earls of Sutherland have had a castle here since the 13th century. In 1845 Charles Barry, who built the Houses of Parliament, re-modelled the castle but most of his interior was destroyed by fire in 1915. The castle was then re-designed by Sir Robert Lorimer. From 1965 to 1972 it was a boys' boarding school but is now owned by Elizabeth Janson, Countess of Sutherland. This is the 14th Earl of Sutherland's daughter Margaret's story. Ghost story: I loved Jamie Gunn. I didn't care that he was a groom in our stables. When you love someone it doesn't matter. But my father cared, he was so angry that he had Jamie banished from the estate and locked me in the upper chamber of the tower. I knew Jamie would find a way for us to be together. It wasn't long before he smuggled a length of rope to my room so I could escape. We were betrayed to my father's steward who told him of our plans. As I was climbing down the rope they arrived. I could see all hope was lost; Jamie and I would never be together. I let go of the rope and fell to my death. It was better than being unhappy for the rest of my life. You may hear me weeping if you visit the room at the top of the old tower. unable to post pic...but Charles Barry did a nice job on this humble cottage for the Earl...shame about the interior destruction. I doubt Lady Margaret cares.... And 'Z you have an image in the above post but I can't see it?? *edit Oh I get it. How'd you know about the Robin Trower thang?IP: Logged |

Since the playa's appear to have quit the field, I don't feel any remorse about being accused of thread hijacking Zala - While searching on my local library's data base for M Stewart, I noticed the release dates for Crystal Cave & Hollow Hills...obviously memory is a fragile filament. I did continue to read her, much later...but you figured that out. And the Robin Trower title. My brother had 3 of his LP's in heavy rotation. In the day. I think the other one was For Earth Below, Twice Removed from Yesterday. I do remember a track called Alethea that was a personal fav. I loved RT, was heavy into the British Blues. John Mayall et all. Roy Buchanan of course. At one time I had over 1,000 vinyl. Everything from "The The", Talk Talk, to Charlie Christian, Butterbeans and Susie. Blonwyn Pig, 12 Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus [Spirit] bet you know that one too. I still have 500 or so. But my NN in Scorpio tells me it's time to let them go, sell them off. Both Stewart titles are checked out. And the third volume is in other locations. I'll put a 'hold' on them. And in the you didn't ask, but I'll tell you anyway category My two prized possessions are a double LP -original on the French Punch label- Django Reinhardt...Django's Music it has a sticker on it to sell for 34,50 fr. Know franc conversion? The other one is on Red vinyl, and is Danny Gatton's Redneck Jazz I did have the White Album on white vinyl, but some 'friend' ran off with that. Be fun to hear what you listen to currently. ..................................................... .IP: Logged |
