i was perusing our local newspaper .. ( they have published pics of 'buildings at risk' in our area .. ) spotted the 'gatehouse' .. hence this post.... would you camp out for a week inside the gatehouse ?? .. ( moi .. only if someone paid me to do so .. :-)) .. pic of the kirklees priory gatehouse .. ~ http://www.happydragon.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/temp/gatehouse.b.jpg ~ .. originating page .. ~ http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/server/show/ConBar.6216 ~ the 'gatehouse' as in context with ~ Robin Hood ~ .. .. text from a related website .. "Most Robin Hood historians now recognise that Robin may well have been a Yorkshireman who was born in Wakefield, lived in Barnsdale Forest and died at Kirklees Priory where his grave is in a derelict and completely overgrown condition. The ruined priory gatehouse, where he was gruesomely murdered by the wicked prioress,is still in existence also, but unfortunately both sites are on private land and access almost impossible, other than by trespassing ,while any proposals regarding restoration of these unique monuments have come to nothing." 'spooky potential' ... ?????????? .. up for sale .. ( building of the month link ) http://www.savebritainsheritage.org/BofM.htm the two current pics .. ~ http://www.savebritainsheritage.org/img/skinburness.jpg ~ ~ http://www.savebritainsheritage.org/img/skinburness_old.jpg ~ parent page .. http://www.savebritainsheritage.org/main.htm ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ http://www.hauntedhouses.com/ ~ ~ http://www.hauntedplaces.co.uk/ ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ post a spooky house pic

Took the inside tour -- Very nice!!! I'd feel much more at ease (as mentioned before about that little "waking up underwater" thing) knowing there's that escape hatch in the forward cabin Perfect little galley Wow, draft of only one meter!! But there might be a bit of ducking thru the doorways for you, with headroom of just 2M PS: Why did they build the bow so tall?? Just stylish?? http://www.elsiemay.co.uk/Elsiemay/photogallary/2007_0602Sedgehillhouse0063.JPG It's not like canal boats would be forging bow-on into a raging gale, savaged by enormous waves..... PPS: Those railroad-tie fenders have got to go!! IP: Logged |

~ Z ~ **.. Why did they build the bow so tall?? Just stylish?? .. ** to make them more suitable for certain types of open sea i imagine .. luxemotors and .. tjalks ( sailing version ) are dutch design .. their coastal waters are relatively shallow .. giving rise to steep shaped waves .. ( the british 'narrowboat' although lengthy .. is only 6 ft wide .. so 'canal only' ) luxemotors and such would handle crossing the english channel .. given that the countries are talking to each other and not warring .. it's possible to reach the med. via the rivers and canals of europe .. ~ http://www.tjalk.com/ ~ barge types .. ~ http://www.h2ofrance.com/boattypes.html ~ see the open water sailing pics at bottom ~ http://www.tjalk.com/tjalk.html ~ ** Those railroad-tie fenders have got to go!! ** yer way ahead of me .. that bow shot took a 'cuppa tea brew' to download .. ( roll on the 1st ) .. i was perusing these .. dutch barges from a yorkshire outfit .. http://www.db-marine.co.uk/ this one shows the differences on the front page .. 'narrow boat' on right .. ~ http://www.delta-marineservices.co.uk/ ~ so .. any pics of spooky ghost ships then IP: Logged |

The legend of the The Flying Dutchman is said to have started in 1641 when a Dutch ship sank off the coast of the Cape of Good Hope..... Captain van der Decken was pleased. The trip to the Far East had been highly successful and at last, they were on their way home to Holland. As the ship approached the tip of Africa, the captain thought that he should make a suggestion to the Dutch East India Company (his employers) to start a settlement at the Cape on the tip of Africa, thereby providing a welcome respite to ships at sea. He was so deep in thought that he failed to notice the dark clouds looming and only when he heard the lookout scream out in terror, did he realise that they had sailed straight into a fierce storm. The captain and his crew battled for hours to get out of the storm and at one stage it looked like they would make it. Then they heard a sickening crunch - the ship had hit treacherous rocks and began to sink. As the ship plunged downwards, Captain VandeDecken knew that death was approaching. He was not ready to die and screamed out a curse: "I WILL round this Cape even if I have to keep sailing until doomsday!" So, even today whenever a storm brews off the Cape of Good Hope, if you look into the eye of the storm, you will be able to see the ship and its captain - The Flying Dutchman. Don't look too carefully, for the old folk claim that whoever sights the ship will die a terrible death. Many people have claimed to have seen The Flying Dutchman, including the crew of a German submarine boat during World War II and holidaymakers. On 11 July 1881, the Royal Navy ship, the Bacchante was rounding the tip of Africa, when they were confronted with the sight of The Flying Dutchman. The midshipman, a prince who later became King George V, recorded that the lookout man and the officer of the watch had seen the Flying Dutchman and he used these words to describe the ship: "A strange red light as of a phantom ship all aglow, in the midst of which light the mast, spars and sails of a brig 200 yards distant stood out in strong relief." It's pity that the lookout saw the Flying Dutchman, for soon after on the same trip, he accidentally fell from a mast and died. Fortunately for the English royal family, the young midshipman survived the curse. IP: Logged |

Ok guys...here are a few local places that I have been to that have sent shivers up my spine and through the top of my head and back down again...The energy is AMAZING from all of these places... Golaid State Park Chapel (many men--and a few women-- during the time of the Battle of the Alamo were kept hostage in this chapel, then told they were being freed and led to their deaths.... The Spanish Governors Palace,in downtown San Antonio...lot of Texas history here....this place lights up for me like The RIverwalk at Christmas!!! The USS Lexington... Scary ship and so, so many documented hauntings...I had trouble touring this place...the energy within the bowls of the ship is hard to get away from when you get way back into the thing!!

Location, atmosphere, resident community. Hey they have it all. and as far as personally feeling energy [bad energy] in a house. I felt it at the John Wilkes Boothe House + oddly...Mount Vernon And Zala, glad you got the Dbl negative. But if the 2nd link opens for you they mention much 'testing' in this facility. And over time when LSD came around that was a part of it as well. Gov+Drugs+Advanced psychosis/schizophrenia ...do the math oh, and did you ever get my other email? Curious. IP: Logged |

Okay... I am going to post a few pics from an Old Town in SE Arizona called Bisbee. Old Bisbee is very much like Tombstone with TONS of activity...Here is a pic of a house that I lived in (Bear too after we married) and the surrounding area. Suffice it to say, I had sea-salt surrounding that house and burned more than my fair share of sage / incense. Most of the activity came from over the mountain (on the left side of the pic). This pic overlooks Tombstone Canyon... This is a more tranquil pic of Bisbee.. after a big snow...
Information on the town.. http://www.longrealtybisbee.com/html/bisbee.html Anyone that came to visit me could sense the town and house activity. Most of the time the little spirits in the house were quiet, curious and only few times were they ever belligerent. The outside energy was different. It was not a friendly energy at all. I do miss my little house friend though. IP: Logged |
