What religion, or not, do you feel most connected to? When You are asked on a form what do you put down for your religion? Me? Spiritist....not Spiritualist. Actiually I tend towards a blend of Spiritism balanced by the logic of Buddhist Humanism. Both alone are too extreme for me. On forms....same, or other, or nothing. http://spiritistdoctrine.com/spiritistcreed.htm ------------------ "Heaven doesn't want me and Hell is afraid I'll take over and start a rehab for the damned!" ~Judgement Must Be Balanced With Compassion~ ~Do Not Seek Wealth From The Suffering, Or The Dire Needs Of Others~ ~Assumption Is The Bane Of Understanding~ ~ if you keep doing what you did, you'll keep getting what you got.~ Everything changes. I say I'm christian! But surveys are often very stupid when it comes to that... Often, you'll have to pick just one alternative- but what if you believe in more things at the same time?! IP: Logged |

On my Navy dogtag it says, "Protestant No Pref." That's fairly accurate. I would like to try out a Universalist church someday. The only ministry I'm a part of is a Christian ministry lead by an Aquarian. I'm open.IP: Logged |

I list agnostic if asked on forms. In a survey like this, I'll say, "Agnostic with neopagan leanings."There's no way I could get any more accurate than that without making an essay about it. :P However, I have a lot of respect for many Taoist points, but strictly in a philosophical sense. I was also once a member of a Dyskordyan Kabal (Discordian) that left it's mark on me (and got more interested in Taoism--and btw, the one who started our kabal got into Discordianism because of her interest in Taoism). I've had a vision of the goddess Freya once, too. I was absolutely convinced of its reality when it happened, but over the years I slowly became more agnostic. I still believe SOMETHING happened, but I'm not sure what, and how symbolic a lot of it was. It would take a lot to explain all my thoughts on it. Odd thing, though. I found out (years later) that at the time, Granny had a nightmare of me choking to death (and I was suicidal at the time, until I saw Freya) and she prayed to her Christian god. How much a connection, if any, there is between that and my having a Vision of Freya is just one thing that still teases my mind about it. I have a lot of sympathy for Asatru and Vanatru, too, though I think I'd only become a member of that religion if I were to somehow marry someone else into it. I've never been the religious kind, at least not in the organized or congregational sense. Not even a good friend who is a gythia and claiming Freya as her patron goddess could convert me, though we remain friends (though we haven't talked in a long while). IP: Logged |

Hmmm.... I guess I'm agnostic. I'm not religious. I do believe in God, but I don't think there is any one right religion. Maybe that's Unitarian Universalism... I don't know. lolIP: Logged |

while Jesus is central in my belief system, i don't think i could ever refer to myself as 'christan', as i have yet to meet a true follower of his principles who calls him/herself 'christian.' the pseudo-christians i have encountered are some of the meanest, hypocritical people i've ever had the misfortune to know. i see nothing of Jesus's teachings in them. i have tried fitting in with them and understanding their perspective, and their view of the world utterly baffles me. i don't know how they can profess to follow Jesus, when everything he was about seems so absent in their lives. i was not only objective, but apologetic as well, in my efforts.anyway, so i can't in good conscience call myself a christian, though he is central to my beliefs. that there is a great spirit prevalent that is universal, represented by the goddess, god and the holy spirit...is a way of perceiving this presence. for me, this works. i don't know how one would categorize this though. Christian - Roman CatholicIn hospitals I can understand why the forms ask that. They have chaplains of different faiths. I don't understand why it would be asked at all on a form other than for hospitals. Why would it even matter? IP: Logged |

I am probably more of a "skeptical agnostic theorist" instead of any actual religion. None are open enough for my tastes. I just got tired of folks asking so I reply with the ones I can see the most personal connection to. I have seen the most wisdom in Tao, Buddhism, Hindu, Islam, Spiritism, and certain Native American and Maori beliefs. I also see wisdom in the non Biblical writing such as parts of the Nag Hamadi.------------------ "Heaven doesn't want me and Hell is afraid I'll take over and start a rehab for the damned!" ~Judgement Must Be Balanced With Compassion~ ~Do Not Seek Wealth From The Suffering, Or The Dire Needs Of Others~ ~Assumption Is The Bane Of Understanding~ ~ if you keep doing what you did, you'll keep getting what you got.~ Everything changes. I believe a conglomeration of things represented by no religion. Life has taught me many things that I have learned to call Truth, as well as many things that don't jibe with me, so for me these things are false. I have also taken bits and pieces from organized (and not so organized) religion, so I guess you could sum me up as "eclectic." I have taken almost nothing from Christianity, though. I find very little of merit in that particular belief system. ------------------ "There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." Lewis Carroll IP: Logged |
