Xodian - I fully agree with you. It's one of my favourites.

I still can't get over the beautiful guitar solo from the song "Hotel California" by the Eagles; And I do mean both the Live Acoustic and the Record Electric one. What talent!
Here's Don Felder & Joe Walsh dueting on Hotel California, 1976

HD, that is one insane looking guitar man... I would never be able to figure that thing out! It looks like a chore to hold too.

I like C13 without the high A note. Just let the high E string be. I don't know why the chord I'm describing isn't a 7 9 chord. In the chords on the right hand side of your screen the 9 is note D. The only song I can think of off-hand that uses it is Jane's Addiction in Been Caught Stealing. I think Moon River might use a 13 chord as well.

Re:x2 Metheny used a guitar stand on the ID tour, though that is not the first time I had seen him use it. He also used a stand to open the American Garage show. With a hollow body Gibson I believe. Resonance and harmonics. You would think Metheny Group is the Grateful Dead the way I follow him around like a puppy on acid. I’ve seen him live 11 times. Three of those times w/out the ‘Group’ Caught the Joni Mitchel ‘Shadows & Light’ tour w/ Metheny/Mays/Pastorius/Brecker…w/Charlie Hayden…and w/ a Trio in a small club
Note to our zeppelin girl BoE-- Metheny has a female guitar tech. Carolyn. She handles the basses as well, and has been w/ him for 25 yrs or so..
HD be happy to send Travels but mine is vinyl. The Road to You is a good alternative -I have that on CD if you want it. Or any other, my fav (perhaps) live + recording? Secret Story. But that is a tough call. I have an EpCD that the Drum n Bass fanatics drool over cos 'Goldie' mixed it. As w/ most artists not all of his discography “works” for me. I bought his experimental SongX and sold it back…laughs. That was his white noise experiment. Anyway …you tube plays in 3 second bursts on my connection. If I keep the window open after about 30 min it plays…laughs. If you want to call it that.

Bass players get short shrift in Guitar Hero Land. Sean Malone

is an American musician primarily known as a virtuoso fretless bass guitar and Chapman Stick player. Best known perhaps for his work in band Cynic. Classified as a ‘Death Metal‘ band for those who like a neat box. He also has a solo Project called Gordian Knot. A sound and direction achieved by players who are on the Prog pedestal. There is not a lot on the web video wise. I wanted to post a “Rivers Dancing“ video from the self titled 1st disc- GK but came up empty. It has my current lead guitar favorite of the moment. This will have to suffice. It is from the second disc “Emergent“(Bruford on drums) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLbAs7boRHc

Gordian Knot has also been compared to Dream Theater. But I think those people miss Sean’s point.
* edit..sigh...sorry..foxytunes aint so foxy. the relay switch be dead. Broken link works fine when I load it, but LL is spitting it out...laughs. try this http://www.seanmalone.net/Video/index.html

Female guitar techs, woohoo! lol
I was actually thinking of opening a guitar store later on in life... I don't know though, my life is going fifty different directions at the moment. I could end up living in stacked box appartments under a bridge, knocking on the cardboard roof with a broom when my neighbor gets too loud.

Woh, John Paul Jones has got some skill. I can barely play a double neck, it's so troublesome to hold. Isn't that two mandolins and a bass though? It looks like the second mandolin just has more frets... I wonder why he needed both.
I don't know what to make of that Gus. It's sort of neat looking and weird all at the same time.

HD~ 8 string bass, are you kidding? I've never seen that one. You would have to have like.... giant fingers to play that. You're right, the Gus does look rather comfy. I like the tear drop shape... it looks like it came off an alien space ship though. lol

HAHA, wooowww.... cigar box guitars... I have never seen such a thing. That's interesting. Looks like something a hobo might use. It'll go quite nicely with the architecture in Boxville.
Mandochello, hm? you're right, I think it must be the same thing as JPJ has on his crazy instrument.

"i once googled "why people play guitar" ..
about the equivalent of googling "why people fall in love" ..
or for that matter "what is love" .."

Yeah, I guess you're right about that. Only guitar playing still makes a bit more sense to me than falling in love, call me crazy, but at least guitar playing doesn't hurt! haha

Xodian~ Yeah, I've never played Guitar Hero. I knew some guys who did though and it looked fun. I'm just now getting back into gaming! I haven't really played video games since the days of Playstation and Sega Genesis.

BoE ~
Haven't you ever played till your fingertips were throbbing, stinging or bleeding?? My calluses come and go, so I run into that

LOL, yeah 'Zala... If I play for a few hours I still get that, but I've had a good set of calluses for like four years, so I don't run into it a lot anymore. It can feel like someone hammering railroad spikes into your fingers, but I still find it preferable to the pains of love.

My, I sound bitter... lol

Oh its DEFINITELY time to get you updated Lol! With the arrival of the Next Gen. systems, its shouldn't be hard to pick up a X-box for a relatively cheap price but finding Guitar Hero will be a tad difficult ; That game is wayyy too popular.

Hmmm, you know if you really wanna start off with gaming, try getting a game called "Castlevania: Curse of Darkness." I assure you, you won't be disappointed .

In the furious fretwork- face melting and perhaps Shred category 2 of my favorites: Dick Dale (Miserlou etc) and Buckethead. Neither sacrifices grace for speed. Buckethead (Brian Carroll) in a career stimulating move is now recognized for his brief foray in GN&R land. Few had heard of him, GN&R solved the problem. His fingers are as long (perhaps longer) than bass player Stanley Clark…made for neck spanning. He is the fastest gun in my not so humble opinion J
Old Timer Dick Dale is still copied and rankly stolen from, to this day. He pounds so furiously on his instrument that string replacement while playing mind you! is commonplace. I have much respect for his drummer. When I saw Dale live the set was so fast I thought the drummer would pass out trying to keep up with the 60 year old Dale. Amazing.

    Buckethead-note also performs w/ nunchaku
Dale- *Note- Mr Dragon~ Dale born on May 4
