If suddenly over night the world was going to

Imagine a world of #3!  It would be chaos at first but once everyone realized everyone has all kinds of weird stuff in their heads and no one could hide behind masks, I believe in time true understanding and empathy would grow.
It would end crime and war too. How could one commit a crime if everyone knew what they were thinking?

Regarding the first question I would not choose any of those three. Honesty, yes but not Brutal honesty because that could amount to cruelty and disregard for the feelings of others. Compassion and empathy would be compromised. I agree with Johnny about the pathological lying. We already have that to a large degree. No one would want that. Worldwide Telepathy no. Our thoughts are who we are. They are what make us all unique. To me world wide telepathy would amount to a big brother society without the need for the technological gadgets. There would be no moments of peace, as Johnny said, because there would be no moments of privacy where we are alone with our thoughts. We could not grow as people because we would be too guarded with our thoughts. In fact, I think that would eventually lead to worldwide insanity. Regarding the second question: I agree with Sattvic, and if it truly would bring about world peace, any color would be fine with me. I doubt it would bring about worldwide peace because humanity would find something else to discriminate and fight about. Besides, we could not learn the lesson of tolerance if we were all alike any way. IP: Logged |

Let me be the first one to say "Pathological Liars" Lol! Why? Well Usually we take everyday "run-of-the-mill" good traits for granted until they don't exist anymore.Imagine the yearning for honesty in a world with nothing but pathological lairs. Picking pathological liars is exactly the same as picking brutal honesty. Either way you can detect the truth.If you can get upset with someone thinking in a moronic way as it is without telepathy, how would it be different if you had telepathy? You'd still think that their thoughts were messed up. Hopefully they'd read your mind, and get on right page, but being human there's no guarantee. Everyone learns in their own time. IP: Logged |

Of course, I'd chose telethapy.
But not just mental telethapy. Emotional empathy.Edited to add: Actually, I'd chose telathapy of the heart. I think this is the most superior form of communication.  Racial equality is what we all need but if it can only be achieved by us all being the same colour then this proves that we still have a lot of empathy to evolve. We need to see and feel that we are all interconnected no matter what colour or species we are! It is said that even rocks and rivers have a spirit. Einstein was truly a genius, and he could see this when he said that we are all, as everything is, made of energy.
Having said that, I think it is true that mixing genes is very healthy. So, perhaps, like the line in U2 "I believe in kingdom come when all the colours will bleed into one". I don't know if it will happen, but that would be fine by me. It doesn't matter what colour we are. Our bodies are just a space-suit. But mixing genes is healthy, and if I'm allowed to say.....they tend to make the offspring very beautiful. Not that it matters- the soul inside a person is the only thing of true value. But I'm just saying.

I'm a Sag after all and this just seems most natural  Could'nt choose #2 as it goes against every ounce of my being
Frightened by #3 as I personally would feel violated!
People are just to evil natured right now to use this one wisely. Maybe somewhere down the road...

First of all you crack me up,Xodian But here in this quote of yours you make so very much sense and a very good point. Maybe a world filled entirely with pathological liars would make people so yearn for honesty that they would work diligently for change and to bring it about. So it is true? I wish detecting truth from lies was that easy.
However I am usually too trusting (contrary to some folks way of thinking of me)and have gotten taken in too many times by very skilled manipulative liars. I have learned slowly to realize, just because I detest lying does not mean everyone else does to the degree that I do. And many seemingly nice folks have a public face and demeanor that covers what kind of person they really are.
It gets easier with time to don the masks without thinking. It becomes easier to avoid things by lying. It becomes a habit. I wonder if some even realize they are liars after a certain point? They want to be nice but even their desire to be nice has drawn them into a cycle of lying. Can they even be honest with themselves after that?SattvicMoon! It would be mine too..except that unfortunately leads to those who do not want to hurt anyones' feelings, resorting to telling white lies. So by that token no I would not choose that, it can lead in some cases to lying, even though well intended. It would still be lying.

If we knew their thoughts the crimes could be prevented! Victims could avoid becoming victims. We also might be able once and for all to find out what made them become that way. Really? Or would you then being able to see their entire picture, be able to understand and be glad they could no longer hide and lurk in the shadows? Telepathy would not be each of us hearing the entire 6.6 billion thoughts all at once. Beautiful thoughts would be heard too. Why would anyone allow the scary thoughts to take over their lives and make it a living hell?

Just watch the movie "powder" to understand what I mean Even the other young man who was cruel to him had his story to tell, pain underneath his tough exterior. Powder even saved his life near the end. "To understand all is to forgive all". He has a very magical moment with this girl where they see into each other's souls for a few minutes before her over-protective, prejudiced father destroys the moment.
This is a very good part of the movie.
That is exactly how I imagine "emotional empathy" to be. I'm not talking about seeing into everything. That would just make us insane. It would be something we would have to learn how to control to maintain balance.   ------------------

Let me just say that I think choice number 2 is already a reality.  But I'd definitely choose number 3, because we had that maybe people would be more AWARE if you catch my drift. But I think number 1 and 3 would produce the same results just because there would be no rosy-shades in either case. quote:

Awww, I loved powder...it scared me the first time when I was 7 or 8 because of his appearance ( ) but I watched it again and thought it was very powerful.And I definitely agree that with telepathy comes awareness and then empathy. IP: Logged |
