Don't go shopping with a buzz on (*). Should you do so, then don't look to the cat food on sale as you pass and think the outdoor stray cats might like some Fancy Feast, because the one you live with probably won't understand once she finds out about it.(*We did have a designated driver.)
Should you ignore that tip as well, then instead of thinking of DON'T, think of DO: I found a scoop of ice cream with chocolate syrup and peach brandy poured on it made her forget all about Fancy Feast Gate. (It probably helped that she'd had a few, too, which also explains why she didn't notice at the check out counter.)
Next phase of the plan: keep Fancy Feast hidden. Feed to outside cats ASAP. Put cans in someone else's recycling bin.
And the next time I decide to eat some hot & spicy Thai dish, I'll order a side dish of rice to mix in with it to help dull the spices, and wash it down with something nonalcoholic instead (as opposed to "ooo, hot, spicy, another Singha, stat!").
