A 51 year old teacher and a student..You know what I would have whipped her Azz with no remorse..As a teacher of course and if my child was this student he or she would have to deal with me too..Kids need to stay in their place you don't disrespect adults.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSj2dRoqaCE IP: Logged |

I agree with you overall, but unfortunately, not all adults (including teachers) deserve respect. Not that this is called for (unless the teacher struck first, though for now I'm guessing it was done "for the cam" and the student started it, possibly after getting a failing grade). But no child of mine is likely to ever set foot inside a public school building anyway. IP: Logged |

It is illegal for teachers to hit children here in the U.K. She would certainly be sacked. But don't take that to mean we are superior in our conduct. Back at school the metalwork teacher (female, pretty, and blonde) was sexually assaulted by one of the older boys (bigger than her as adolescent boys sometimes are). One of the male teachers stepped in before things got out of hand. Not sure what he could do if he isn't allowed to raise his hand, because that deserved a clout if nothing does. I'm right with Mama Mia on this ~ my boys soon get told if they cross the line with their rude and cheeky. Their father cannot abide any rudeness to grandparents and that gets slammed down on. I confess, I wouldn't dare swear in front of my mother, even though she is now a grey-haired old lady. My husband inadvertantly used the eff word in front of her and she threatened to turn him over her knee and give him a hiding. He is in his late 40s, lol. IP: Logged |

I hear you Mia, with your Mars in Aries it would have been over before she stood up. (probably what she needs) When I went to school we didn't dare act like that. Besides, nobody's tougher than a Nun.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/05/30/AR20080530018 42.html?nav=hcmodule Apparently, it was started when the teacher kicked the student. Perhaps she'd been unduly provoked (or maybe she was just having a bad day and made a mountain out of a molehill), but that wasn't the right way for an adult to handle it. I hope they don't let her sub again as she's just too immature for the job. Had the student thrown the first blow, then I'd have supported the sub instead. (ETA: not that this is to be taken in support of the student as it sounds as if the student did provoke her--without assault--and so isn't entirely devoid of blame...but I don't know how much she provoked her, nor how much the sub had provoked her first that may have inspired the student provoking her back, so I can't say anything beyond that.)
