That's what I think about Clarkson, but I hear from one of Mr 23's associates who knew him in Oxfordshire that he is worse in reality than on TV, very surly. So that theory gets defeated there. Speaking normally, he sounds to me Southern, London outskirts. Don't know where he grew up, a London borough or home counties would be my guess, but not East of the city. I wish he'd speak in his own accent in interviews. But a lot of "foreign" actors do that in Hollywood. I've seen Hugh Laurie do that too - and he has such a lovely natural accent.
