I was going to ask 'what's your favorite movie?', but then realized that it might be more interesting to ask, 'Which movies do you like/love that captivate you and never seem to get old no matter how many times you watch them?'For me (in no particular order): - The Philadelphia Story (I can't decide if it's the writing or the performances that keep me laughing, but I never tire of this one) - The Big Lebowski (same thing...though I think the performances and casting in this were pure genius) - All About Eve (I can never get enough of Bette Davis' stinging one-liners) - Napoleon Dynamite (I can't even explain what it is about this one) - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (my favorite Charlie Kaufman film so far...I can't get bored of his movies) - Angels in America (epic and inspirational) How about you??

Closer. I just love this movie. I can watch it over and over and never lose that sense of how clever it is and how brilliant the dialogue is.I'm also a huge Star Wars fan. So they never lose the enchantment for me. I can watch Star Wars movies forever. IP: Logged |

Ok I'll join in...Amelie(Because shes does good for people, and I like that sort of humor the movie provides) The Lover(Its an interesting but sad romance movie) Le Femme Nikita(The character has both masculine and feminine qualities to her which I find intriguing) I am starting to really dig on foreign films lately.

MVMYou're not being, ummm, biased, are you? Clive's dialogue!!! Forget that! Did you see the size of his hands when he was touching Natalie Portman's face and placing his hand on Julia Roberts'? Umm, great dialogue, yeah! Dialogue was good. All of it. I thought Julia Roberts was at her best in that movie. Better than Erin Brokovich. Wish she'd gotten more recognition for it. IP: Logged |

The Party is one of my faves too. I love the part where she's singing to him and he's busting to go to the toilet. And the entire scenario after he does go to the toilet. But the killer, is right at the beginning - where in the movie, he keeps getting up and won't die. It slays me every time. Awesome movie. OMG! And how could I forget. The waiter who keeps getting sloshed in the background. Steals every scene. IP: Logged |

Any other Monty Python fans here?Does anyone else find it hysterical in Holy Grail that they pretend to ride horses throughout the entire movie? That is THE funniest thing ever. IP: Logged |

metaLOL - triple post! Over-enthusiasm. But this is your area. Ummm, for someone who claims to be a movie snob, there's some very unsnobby choices in there. Love, Actually - awesome movie. The scene with the ever fabulous Laura Linney and her brother trying to hit her and she calls him "my darling" reduces me to tears in half a second flat every time. IP: Logged |

It's not technically a movie - but the quality is there - the mini-series Merlin, with Sam Neill as Merlin was brilliant. The entire show was just one class act - the acting, the music, the script, everything - just fantastic. I can watch and watch that over and over. Love it.IP: Logged |

PA,The unsnobby films were probably under my "Guilty Pleasures" category. They've got some X ingredient that gets at me every time. When they're on i can't NOT watch them. They would be the equivalent of Fast Food to an American on a diet Lara, A Clockwork Orange just never gets old for me. It's a film that always carries around this Je Ne Sais Quoi aura. I can't explain it. Everytime i watch it.. it's like the first time i'm seeing it... does that make sense? It never ceases to amaze me. Malcolm McDowell touches me as a thespian- his performance is so committed and unforgiving.. yeah, i'm rambling now! IP: Logged |
