Nephthys:Sweet banana peppers are the peppers usually available as a topping at sub shops.. Subway, Quizno's, Blimpie's... atleast, here in the St. Louis area they are. ------------------ Scorpio/Leo/Leo "When you realize how perfect everything is you will tilt your head back and laugh at the sky" Buddha After all, when someone at a party asks you what sign you are, and you look at them (penetratingly) and reply, "Scorpio", and they give a little gasp and back away, or instantly inquire what you're doing later, well, it can get a little...tiresome. -Liz Greene IP: Logged |

Whew, most of my canning/freezing is done. I`m just waiting for the Macintosh,Ida`s and Northern Spy apples to ripen and finish the season. The turkeys and blue jays decimated my grapes this year Where did summer go??? The maple leaves are turning and the night air whispers of autumn. ------------------ ~ What we do for ourselves dies with us. Do the sweet banana peppers look like a jalapeno, only lighter yellow? I think I've had those........yummmm.. Juniperb - all our plums are gone. Apples too. Mom made tons of plum jam, plum cakes, and cut up and froze some apples. Also made some applesauce.
Today is the first cool day. Was only about 70, and late afternoon got pretty cool. I actually made tea tonight and 1 week ago we had 100 degrees! IP: Logged |

We had our first good frost last night so apples are acomming I love and make applesause, apple crisp, turnovers, cobbler and apple jelly. I always make pies for the family and some to freeze for Thanksgiving. It was such an unusual hot dry summer, the pumpkins are being picked now and there may not be any for halloween ------------------ ~ What we do for ourselves dies with us. Wait........your pumpkins are already GROWN? Wow. There's a huge pumpkin field on my way to school, and the pumpkins still appear small. My dinky little pumpkin that was growing, so sadly did not make it. He had a small soft spot that just grew rotten and thus he was pretty much aborted. IP: Logged |

Juniperb, thanks for the article. The patch on my way to school, the pumpkins look small. I wonder why. They also have a huge corn field and every year they make a maze in it. Didn't you guys get some cool weather the past couple days? I saw on the news a cold front from Canada blowing down on you all. Now we can look forward to Halloween type movies. Such as Wizard of Oz, Practical Magic, Hocus Pocus, etc. Anyone see the new Halloween yet? I'm too scared. IP: Logged |

sotic? Yeah, I love to watch Hocus Pocus over and over again. They even show it in non-Halloween season. The Crucible is good, educational, and representative of what happened during the witch trials. Yeah, poor Linus. IP: Logged |
