Ok, everyone, time to report on your summer gardens! What are you growing and how are they doing? Feel free to share pics!!! I am at work so can't share pics right now!

We are growing tomatoes, green bell peppers, zuchini, yellow squash, cucumber, and pumpkin. Maybe some other stuff I don't know about too.

So far we are on our 2nd green bell pepper, our 2nd cucumber, got a few big zuchini's and there's tons of green tomatoes patiently waiting to ripen!! Haven't noticed any pumpkins yet.

I have cherry tomatoes, Plum tomatoes and beefsteaks. I have picked several handfuls of the Cherries and 4 Plums. The beefsteaks are still green. We also grew sweet peas. My daughter eats them right off the vine. They dried up and are gone. We also grew spinach. We already ate all that also in Spinach salads. Yumo!! I have cantalopes, but no flowers yet, sweet red peppers, which are still green, and a jalapeno plant which is growing very well. Have picked at least a dozen pepers from it. The rest is flowers.

Cool!!! What do you do with the jalapenos?
Does your spinach grow big or small? Is it a good producer? I forgot to mention we grew some lettuce but they burned in the heat/sun.

I LOVE the red bell peppers. I love to eat them sliced raw in salads, and I make the yummiest veggie lasagne with them!!!!

But I never see the red bell pepper veggies for sale to plant.

I use the Jalapenos in alot of things. My Bull loves them. I put them in meatloaf, cheese dip, stuffed peppers. I dont eat them. Tooo spicy for me. THis is the first time I saw them lables as sweet red pepers. I am waiting for them to turn. I have 2 big green ones. THe spinach was small, we ate it when it was baby spinach. The rest dried up. It went to seed quickly. It is SOOOOOOOOOOOO dry this year.

Sounds yummy!

Some vendors at the farmer's mkt lately are selling spinach really cheap, and the leaves are HUGE.

I like to make my salads with red lettuce, freckle lettuce, and spinach.

I wish I had more space and more energy to garden. I really do love it. My sunflowers are just starting to bloom.

One of my Pepper is FINALLY starting to turn red. I think alot of my plants will die while I am on vacation. I don't think anyone will water them and it is SOOOO hot and dry here this year.

I have a hill in the front of my house that I let go wild. It has Black eyed Susans, Cosmos, Queen Anne's Lace, morning glories, daisy's. I love it, so do the little blue birds and oriales. The bull hates my hill.

Well, at this moment, my dad has okra, watermelon, pimento peppers, hugarian hot peppers, white eggplant, and roma tomatoes.

I have zuchinni, yellow cherry tomatoes, swiss chard, green onions, sweet banana peppers, orange and red bell peppers, and purple eggplant. Yummie stuff!

I never heard of sweet banana peppers! Sounds interesting, and good!

We still have a lot of tomatoes, a few cucumbers, and a zuchini and yellow crookneck squash here and there.

Does anyone know the right time to pick cucumbers? The last 2 were terribly bitter!

Nep, I pick them when they are kinda small. They are much sweeter. About 5-6 inches long and not too fat. I think they get bitter when they get fat. I am hoping I get some cantalopes. I sure have lots of flowers. I have had Tons of Jalapenos and tomatoes. and finally a couple BLUE morning glories. I just can't seem to grow the blue ones, only purple.

OMG, exactly! Yes, the ones I picked that were sweet were SMALL and the ones that are bigger are BITTER!!! So that's the key then!

Morning Glories sound pretty.

Thanks Hippi, very cool!

Bluemoon, I can't remember why I asked. Probably 'cos I thought we could add each other as friends there, but if you don't use it that's okay.
