Ok, I am slowly accepting that Summer is about over. So let's Welcome Fall. Maybe HippiChick can give us the exact date and time of it's arrival?

Post your fall pics/trivia/misc. here!

I will add one fact for now...

Where I live one, if one pays attention, can feel and see the Autumnal Equinox nearing without ever viewing a calender...

In south Texas as the season nears, the light quality takes of a different look and feel, it is clearer, the sky is bluer. Tho, still hotter than all get out, things are brighter...

I have noticed this for years and finally one day (Piscean relativity ) noted that it occured around the time of the Autumnal Equinox...The first "cold" front has alot to do with it as well...blows the grime and dust out of our humid summer air.

The quality of the late September light always lifts my spriits from the dulldrum of a hot Texas summer!!!

Hippi ~ you are very in tune with nature!!! It is very special to be that way!!!

Today it is much cooler than it's been. We have beautiful blue skies and sunshine, but it's very windy and just under 70 degrees.

Bluemoon I couldn't resist it when I saw it!!

ahhhh...reminiscent as the falling leaves while the school busses carefully created pathways on the blacktop, kneesocks, sweaters, books...

and on the weekends....the smell of burning leaves, jumping into the piles of newly raked maple and oaks of red, gold and burnt green....

quite nights by candlelight, the crickets slowly fading into the silence of the fall......

Rows and floes of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons ev'rywhere
I've looked at clouds that way

But now they only block the sun
They rain and snow on ev'ryone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way
I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
It's cloud illusions I recall
I really don't know clouds at all

Moons and Junes and Ferris wheels
The dizzy dancing way you feel
As ev'ry fairy tale comes real
I've looked at love that way

But now it's just another show
You leave 'em laughing when you go
And if you care, don't let them know
Don't give yourself away
I've looked at love from both sides now
From give and take, and still somehow
It's love's illusions I recall
I really don't know love at all

Tears and fears and feeling proud
To say "I love you" right out loud
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds
I've looked at life that way

But now old friends are acting strange
They shake their heads, they say I've changed
Well something's lost, but something's gained
In living ev'ry day

I've looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all
I've looked at life from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all

Today I made pumpkin cookies! They are sooooo yummy! They are gluten and sugar free. They have walnuts, chocolate chunks, and ground flax seeds in them so they are very nutritious as well!! Can't wait to make pumpkin pies!!!!

Sattvic ~ So are you saying that it's hot for several months, and then cold for several months, with no -in-between?

Terri ~ I think the snakes are good luck!

well...I just had to post this....

this band one of my very favirots...very gothic, very autumnal....

September Sun

September sun blowing golden hair
Now keep in mind son
She was never there
October's rust
Bisecting black storm clouds
Only the deaf hear my silent shouts

Yet in the dark, still he screams your name
Nights living death with witch rhymes insane
Ten years amassed, para toda mi vida?
Lost man in time, was his name Peter?

September sun, rotted flatbush porch
I would have run then, had I known the cost
Autumnal rays turned your eyes to stone
Did it give you pleasure to steal my soul?

Yet in the dark, still he screams your name
Nights living death with witch rhymes insane
Ten years amassed, para toda mi vida?
Lost man in time, was his name Peter?

Leave her, Leave her alone
I said leave her alone

Me? I know why

Some pics of EARLY Autumn in South Texas...

Road trip----on my way through the Medina Valley....

What I found in the Medina Valley...evidently cotton is harvested late here...I stopped an picked some and intend to go back and pick more....

The end of my journey THAT day.....ahhh...the view from my neighborhood of the Texas Hill Country...where I drove...

Welcome, Autumn!

"There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." Lewis Carroll

We had mild, warm, sunny weather today. Although, once the sun sets it gets pretty chilly.

I wish I had one day where I could just *SIT* outside, think of nothing but watch the nature happening around me, just do nothing, just *BE*. Just inhale it all in. *sigh* I wish I had the time.
