I use a 50/50 mix of flour and cornmeal. Makes the best batter you have ever tasted! Especially with okra, which I then fry in oil to a crunchy crisp. Also works for squash. No milk or egg needed. But buttermilk would probably be good, since it is with fried chicken.

I better start with the regular beets before I graduate to the pickled ones.

abcd,

I ment to leave a simple Italian Dressing recipe for you and here is 2 ways of making it. I prefer the one with cheese but both are good

#1
Ingredients:
1 cup salad (olive)oil
1/3 cup wine vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano leaves, crushed
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1 garlic clove, minced
ground pepper

put into jar with lid, shake well and let sit for 2 hours for seasonings to blend. Shake at each use.

#2

3/4 c olive oil
1/2 c red wine vinegar
1/2 tbsp Parmesan, grated
1/2 tbsp Romano, grated
1 large clove Garlic, minced
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp oregano, dried
1/8 tsp paprika
fresh ground pepper

mix and use as above !

I'm taking a supplement that you dissolve in your mouth. It's flavored by beets. Tastes great.

The green things we make couple of dishes with. Yummy! What do you call it? And our good old beetroot. Just yesterday i had made a beetroot salad and thought of you and this thread.
