I have recently read some of Robert A. Heilein's novel and come to find the manner in which he has defined relationships and his views on the social taboos quite interesting.

I actually came here to post another topic, yet I feel more inclined now to question the foundation of a soul union itself, before I can ask questions related to the structure that rests upon it.

So what is the Soul Union?

Is it limited to two people of the opposite gender? Is it limited to monogamy?

I have want to say that in both cases the answers are no, but I have little experience on these issues.

One thing I am sure of is that jealousy is a disgusting habit, I am disgusted when I see it in others and even more disgusted when I recognize it in me.

Is it selfish or idealistic to think that I or anyone else can have a deep bond with more than one other and the level of affection that we give to all others, save one, need not be limited to a handshake or a hug?

One thing I am certain of is that we must always consider the bigger picture of how it will affect our lives and the lives of others who depend on us.

Can the idea of group marriage, as described by Heilein in his novels be as practical he makes them out to be?

It seems to that sharing our affections with more than one would not be dividing them, but multiplying them. Yet like several of Heinlein's characters I could not even consider even mentioning the idea to my belle, and she would be hard pressed to convince me that to act on these ideas would not cause anyone any harm.

Your post is very in keeping with our times isnt it? The age of Aquarius...

I have had this conversation many times over the last year or so.

I have also met up with a couple of souls who were dear to me in past lives. In answer to your question....a soul union ...two people, (or a group) who remember their past incarnations together and then who meet up in the present one.

I think it would take either a very emotionally detached person or a highly evolved one to share love in a sexual way, for example. The two souls meet again......and find it hard to resist each other.

How does one get their head around the idea of soul unions leading to intimacy with more than one person at a time...

All of us probably have a connection with more than one person in our lives.

The thought of my partner going with another physically, doesnt exactly enamour me, but some say, this is the direction life may take in the future.....i heard it say, "a new approach to relationships". We are evolving so therefore we will recognize souls we spent previous lives with.

I am beginning to think that people who have a fatal attraction to each other were indeed soul connected in the past..

The problems arise when unfinished karma presents itself to the people involved.....what to do....leave it or act on it?

Is this a part of being enlightened....I wonder?

Anyone?

Excellent post!!!

I have been pondering Soul Unions myself lately~~has been the topic of my greatest ponderings....

A very wise individual told me that as we progress further along on our spiritual path, that we come to meet more of our soul family and I will add to that, the further we progress, the more we meet the deeper and more profound the connections become....

But as the question is presented, what about physical relation---and where does karma come in???

To me, physical relation is a soul union to be cherished, one to one and is a very "special" kind of soul contact, not intended for all the souls that we come in contact that we have known in the past. I have known those that I know were connected to me in the past both male and female and me being heterosexual, do not necessarially have sexual feelings for every male that I have known in the past. And here we can consider our fathers, brothers, etc.

Having said that, I will say, that all males that I have been sexually attracted to I have felt a deep, soul connection to.

I think I finally get Karma and have become pretty good at correcting negative Karma and contributing only to positive Karma~~~certainly I fault now and again and it requires a concious effort, especially when someone really ****** you off to send good Karma their way, not negative!! With one individual in my life recently, I had to turn the other cheek, walk away from the contact because we constantly created negative karms between us, and I do not think I am coming back again, and do not want to re-main on the negative wheel of karma with anyone.

So........I have been able to re-cognize the intense, deep, profound connection with other souls, but also re-cognize the poteitial for either correcting neagtive karma or establishing positive karma..

I am rambling now!!!

Will ponder some more......

Terri

PS Sue, yes I do think this all lends itself toward increased enlightenment~~~~~

and.....

Marriage as in traditional marriage in society is a manifestation of the physical plane....souls are not. Though we have chosen a liftime on the physical plane, our souls re-main not physical.....

I have often wondered if one can be "in love" with more than one person at the same time, and I have come up with YES,,because romantic love is merely an expression of Divine love and Divine love has no bounds...

Though, most folks are so bound to this earth plane, that they live and experience the soul in earthly form, what this topic is addressing---I think---is a more etheral form of soul~~~~~~

I think that the subject of jealousy plays an interesing part here...why the jealousy to begin with? Is jealousy a purely selfish act of one wanting to completely possess the other? I admit that sometimes I feel an awefully uncomfortable feeling when I think of my love with another woman..or the past women. One must make the effort to incorporate the higher self into the bodily self to overcome such challenges.

Hmmm

I swing between believing that people who are not a little jealous of the thought of their partners with another are either extremely enlightened or not passionate in their affections.

I see women who have been married for a long time and if they see their husband chasing another woman, they would have the attitude of "silly old bugger".....

Whereas, I would be more inclined to say grrrrrr if my man did that.

Maybe its not just a trust issue, maybe the more passionate a person you are, the more you will experience the pangs of jealousy?

My mother and father were like this. My mom was quite unphased by my dad chatting up other women, but she was a cool unemotinal type of person. Whereas my Dad is very passionate and would show jealousy if he saw men paying my mother attention...double standards I know!!!

And then there are those women who would be glad to see thier man chasing after another woman.....so they didnt have to entertain them in bed

Wow! I never expected such a response. Thank you all. I guess there comes a time when doubt rises and one lets that doubt rule the mind.

Hippichick, I know what you mean about feeling very connected to another, yet having to stay away from that one due to negative karma constantly being created.

Just reading your responses has reminded me of what I had forgotten. It is said that incarnation is group work, that we do not come here alone, that we are incarnated as a group, and we have been working with the same group, incarnation after incarnation.

It is also said that the purpose of the soul is to spiritualize matter. On the soul plane we are one and the intimacy of this is a greater ecstasy than that we could possibly imagine as an incarnated being. The way I understand it is, if done correctly, the physical expression of intimacy can lead to the closer realization of ecstasy shared between souls on the soul plane.

Karma plays are great role in the physical expression of unity. It seems to be that if one enters the temple under a false guise, one will cause negative karma, but to enter the temple with honesty and great respect shall be a healing process.

Oh, I don't know where I am going with this, now... maybe I can sort out a bit more later.

Once again thank you all for your respomse.
