T O P I C R E V I E WFlukeI've heard that the sun/moon midpoint is an important factor in synastry.. What would the effect be when one has tons of aspects to the others sun/moon midpoint, and almost no one in return? Would the person with the affected midpoint be very affected by the other person, but not the other way around? This is the aspects I found:Aspects to 1st persons midpoint:Sun trineMoon squaremercury trinesaturn conjuncturanus squareneptune trinepluto sextilepallas conjuncteris trineamor sextileASC sextileAspects to 2nd persons midpoint:Moon oppositevenus squareI don't think this looks good for person nr 1, am I right?------------------Gemini SunLibra MoonCancer Risingcristinameonly hard aspects to midpoints count (0, 45, 90, 135, 180); and only the ... 'old' planets (no eros, etc)you're wrong! FlukeONLY hard aspects count when dealing with midpoints? Sounds a bit restrictive. So then I'm left with these, then?to 1st persons midpointmoon squareuranus squaresaturn conjunctto 2nd persons midpointmoon oppositevenus squareRight?------------------Gemini SunLibra MoonCancer RisingeatbooksOnly Conjunctions and oppositions should be looked at, also midpoint aspects touching the ascendant, sun, moon, or venus.(personal planets) anything else would be too impersonal, and makes it less significant.------------------your pain is my pain, is that love?FlukeThat means I can add the Sun trine and the ASC sextile to the aspects to the first persons midpoint? Even if they are not hard aspects? And the squares would not matter? And would it be right that the persons midpoint that is most activated would be more affected by the other person that the other person would be affected by them?Crap, I don't like this, heh heh------------------Gemini SunLibra MoonCancer RisingGemini NymphI disagree. Hard aspects are often more significiant because they are more likely felt, but they are not the only ones that could be significiant. Trines - yes. Squares - definitely!!! Semi-sextiles tend to be pretty significant too, especially if it's with Sun, moon, or a planet of particular importance in teh chart, like chart ruler.I also think that midpoint contacts with personal planets tend to be a bit more significiant than with outer planets. But like with anything, this can be quite relative. If you have a lot of challenging cross aspects, a normally important midpoint contact can be drowned out in the tension, whereas in an overly harmonouis synastry, it can create a bit of tension, although often in a good way. eatbooksSquares? yes maybe..trines? I dont think so...------------------your pain is my pain, is that love?LILYGIRLI do hard aspects only--not trines for example BUT I will say that I have my Jupiter (clearly not a personal planet) dead on someone's SUN/MOON midpoint and it plays out obviously and overtly. In effect I make him contemplate and consider his life in a more expansive, philosphical and even risk taking kind of way. He once said I make him feel as though he can do anything.Dulce LunaI don't agree with using the soft aspects for the sun/midpoint either. Its the same as using them for the Nodes...they probably won't be felt.Stick to the hard ones Azalaksh http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/008897.html http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/009262.html cristinamegood point, Azalaksh!and since those posts also talked about MP calculaters...I'm surprised that ppl seem to miss on the www.astrowin.org free programs. back to fluke: that's a lot more than what i usually see in charts of my friends who got married and love eachother so: you're doing great!FlukeUmm... Can you explain to me exactly HOW stressfull aspects from nasty planets (Saturn, for instance, heh heh) to my sensitive sun/moon midpoint can be great? And how is it great that my moon and venus, two nice, sensitive planets creates these ugly aspects to his midpoint? Not that I really have any realistic hope of ever getting him, so it doesn't really matter what kind of aspects we have, but I'd like them to be nice anyway, heh heh. One tends to get a little weird in the head when in love, right? ------------------Gemini SunLibra MoonCancer Risingcristinameyes, I can. thank you for asking.Saturn is not evil, and squares are not nasty. that's a simplistic view over this complex universe we live in. Analogy: you and I are still alive today because our bodies learned to adjust to threats made by bacteria and viruses. How? Simply: our so called immune system developed by trial and error over millions of years of human evolution. Every now and then, a new virus comes along, and people die. Bc the immune system is helpless – clueless about how to deal with the virus. But, while some individuals die, we, as species, become stronger: with each mistake, out DNA learns. Each threat makes us better. Each new baby goes to some version of this process once born. Some things we are born with (same immunity comes with our DNA from our parents), but others we learn by ourselves - by facing and fighting the threats. Saturn, Pluto, all the ‘nasty’ planets – they help. A lot more than the ‘nice’ planets… we left eden, remember? We wanted to know stuff… ignorant bliss wasn’t enough (trines and sextiles r worth nothing without squares and oppositions to set things in motion). Btw – without Saturn there is no ‘relationship’ – Saturn is commitment, responsibility, seriousness. Without Saturn there’d be no society – no order, no rules, no organization.A relationship with only trines and sextiles becomes boring in time. The ‘hard’ aspects in synastry bring the spice, the (sexual) tension, the attraction. Without looking, what can you tell me about ur socks? (assuming u’re wearing)… if they fit, are ‘nice’ and ‘cozy’, I bet you never even think about them – never really consider them… there’re just there ...bring some cold feet, some draft, some scratch – and they suddenly become important… Fluke Thank you christiname, hope you understood my exaggeration with the comments about nasty saturn and ugly aspects, heh heh.------------------Gemini SunLibra MoonCancer Rising
