I'm changing things up here--nothing major in the "look' of the site--but what would you Knowflakes like to see? I have three main goals this year:1. To get more postings in the slower Forums by attracting people with those specific interests. 2. Figuring out how to turn off that private function on Basic Astrology and get it booming. 3. Fix the internal search engine, so we can search a single Forum or all Forums by keyword(s) and/or Username. What do ya'll think about putting Forums in broader categories? And if so, how would you categorize them? I can do categories by just pushing a few buttons. Or should I leave the Forums alone and keep them as they are? ------------------ "Cooking is like love. I also think #3 would be a HUGE help. Lonake's thing with sub-forums sounds really good too, it would organize things a bit. IP: Logged |

#3 for sure...it would make things a lot easier if we wanted to search for threads by a certain user or category------------------ put your foot down once, not stomp it over and over IP: Logged |

New forum software. Perhaps run the forums (the new one and this one) concurrently since you're intent on not losing the past. SMF is a free forum software, and you'd probably be pretty psyched about the capabilities. If it were me, I'd add some pages. If you're interested in doing a blog, that could be one of them. It might also be cool to set up an Amazon store or something filled with book recommendations and so forth. IP: Logged |

AG that would be totally ACE!Would that include avatars? ------------------ “It’s an interesting thing. Seeing Kuan Yin relating to a flower so intently. She's not just looking at it; she's interacting with it…I’m seeing how the act of relating to a flower appears to be so simple. Yet, it takes a tremendous amount of courage to make such a “simple” act important. Now, the lotus is floating away.” IP: Logged |

There are a lot of free discussion boards. Maybe it's just me, but that one seems kind of sterile. Plus, I see no reason to run two unless planning an eventual migration to the other, and I don't plan on discarding ours. Too much history. Anyone can start a discussion board. It's our history that makes Lindaland a family.IP: Logged |

I was thinking that people who had an expertise or an interest could share it. It could be in a "class" format. For example, someone could offer to teach about something they knew. For me,I would like to offer a "discussion group" on Out of Body Experiences. I see at as an ongoing discussion that people could participate in daily,or on an ongoing basis. We could learn from each other. I would ,also, like to offer my expertise in raw foods for anyone who would like to lose weight. I could ,also, see an ongoing discussion about a topic such as Kundalini Yoga. We could share our experiences and help each other. I could see a Forum with ongoing teaching /learning topics such as this. It could be called "On Going Learning" or something that could show the nature of it to people who wanted to get involved. ------------------ Jesus never put his trust in man cuz he knew what was in man. I don't think any changes are possible on the current platform. Not the search engine fix, not adding avatars, nor adding an ignore button. The only way to make an effective change is to change software. The history is moot, but I think you want it for the traffic you think it brings. That's why I suggested running them concurrently for awhile.I view this as another MySpace versus Facebook thing. You could have it so much better. You thought Facebook was sterile, too. I don't know if I need to tell you how much the appearance of that board can be modified. IP: Logged |

Nah, I never used the term sterile with FB. I just liked the creativity of MS. I can upgrade to the latest UBB and have all of the things mentioned. I would do that before I'd change to a whole different software and abandon a decade of history. ------------------ "Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all." How can history be a moot point, AG? That's what makes Lindaland well, um, Lindaland! Ten years of posts has nothing to do with traffic. It has to do with the personality of the site. There's a fix for the search engine. And a hack for avatars (if I can find it). I don't think an ignore button is possible, though. I'm also thinking of adding a bunch more smilies in the system. ------------------ "Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all." Harriet Van Horne IP: Logged |

AG that would mean losing ten years of history and for what? The sake of a new software forum? That's a big no no from me.I love how LL is. A few changes here and there are fine.IP: Logged |

It used to wrench my heart having to prune the site and choosing which ones to lose forever (prior to moving to a server with virtually unlimited space). From Ra's dream analyses to YIVY's lexigrams, Lindaland has a rich history that I am not going to discard just for a few extra perks like an ignore button...not to mention all of the more recent and current contributions. ------------------ "Cooking is like love.
