I like it whenever anyone jazzes up this song:

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
Check out the flute and bass solo at about the 3:00 mark.

Done in supposed bluegrass style: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFPTQSbxKNE

This guy's hammering on solo guitar version of it is pretty awesome: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfI6QiZtgEg

I have been told who does this one and that they are from the Caribbean and recorded this song in Europe, but I just can't remember their name. Part of it goes:

Hark the Herold Angels sing
A King was born today.
And man will live forevermore
because of Christmas day.

Gee, I'm a great help aren't I?

I liked those different versions of Little Drummer Boy and God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman, YFIS and AG.

I liked the bluegrass version the best, AG.

This one is my husband's favorite ( bet you could have guessed that LOL ) My grand kids get a kick out of it too.

  • Johnny Winter: Please Come Home for Christmas
  • Aaron Neville- Such a Night, Let it Snow
  • George Winston [piano] all of his "December"
  • Jethro Tull- A Christmas Song
  • The Nutcracker Suite
* I have Tchaikovsky on now, love those sugar plum fairies
    ps- I worked a Holiday Catering party. The hostess had a 5 disc changer filled with Mannheim Steamroller. Listening to that, on an endless loop for 8+hours, made me want to stick pointy objects in my retina

It's not 'technically' a Christmas song, but the UK has a #1 Christmas single every year, and my fave is a remake of the Tears for Fears song "Mad World" by Gary Jules. Haunting, strangely Christmas to me....

My favorite:
]
(TO THE TUNE OF JINGLE BELLS)

DASHING TO THE MALL
TO BUY SO MUCH STUPID CRAP

CHARGING UP OUR CARDS
TO GET INTO MASSIVE DEBT

THE GOVT CONTROL OURS MINDS
WITH STUPID TELIVISION

WE ARE COMPELLED TO BUY
AND WASTE OUR LIVES IN THE MALL

oooo

GIVING GIFTS IS POINTLESS
IT JUST RUNS THE ECONOMY

IF YOU DON'T PARTICIPATE IN XMAS
YOU ARE A DIRTY SINNER!!!

LOL BR Good one. And it rings true in so many ways

Here's another one:

(Sung to the tune of I'll Be Home For Christmas)

I'll be cloned for Christmas,
There'll be three of me;
One to Work, and one to Shop,
And one just for Parties.

Christmas Eve, I'm certain,
I won't be alone;
I'll be home for Christmas,
Or else I'll send a Clone!
