LaLa - that story was FANTASTIC!!

Here's a similar embarrassing story. I was a young girl and I had an older girl cousin who had like one of those big bureaus in her room all decorated with perfume bottles, and the doily.... you know...

So everytime I'd visit, I'd go there and try all the perfumes and try putting make-up on... and there was this one perfume which I really liked more than the others. So the whole family had finished dinner and were sitting at the dinner table chatting, and I walk up to my cousin with perfume bottle in hand, and loudly proclaim how nice this smells, holding the bottle up for everyone to see.

I could not understand why the smiley faces turned serious all of the sudden... my cousin just about died...

I am part-German and part-Welsh. I am not going to go into what the English say about the Welsh...and I had "Hitler" and "two World Wars and one World Cup" coming out of my ears by the time I left school. People ask me why I tell people I'm half-German, but the fact is, there is an awful lot more to German culture than what happened in between 1933-45 - those great scientists, great musicians. Germans don't appear to be proud of their nationality, but I'm afraid that, in the stagnant state they are at the moment, they need to do something POSITIVE and GOOD in order to make them feel proud of themselves. They cannot dwell on WWII for ever.
I used to get extremely upset about what happened during the Holocaust, but the fact is, I was born in 1974...therefore I cannot be held, or made, culpable...
