dear kathleen,

hope you had a wonderful weekend. i did, though it was a little busy.

ok, the book i mentioned is 'mythic astrology: archetypal powers in the horoscope' by ariel guttman & kenneth johnson. it has chapters on all of the planets, including the big 4 asteroids, and chapters on each of the zodiac signs. i highly recommend it.

the chapter on pluto ends with this:

"the planet pluto is often accused of possessing an overly-sexed nature. this is not entirely justifiable from a mythological point of view -- outside of his abduction of persephone, hades' sexual urges are never mentioned. presumably hades and persephone enjoyed a healthy sexual relationship. when pluto is in a sign or in strong aspect to a planet associated with sex, it can definitely lead to obsessions with passion. for instance, pluto with venus or mars will increase the lustiness of the individual's expression. pluto with jupiter can lead to prolific procreative drives, while pluto with the moon can result in a demeter/persephone/hades type of relationship."

pluto is your chart ruler (your ascendant is scorpio, correct?); what's his again?

i dug another book out to give you a brief synopsis of moon-pluto aspects in synastry, since the book i mentioned above has no significant information on actual aspects. it's more mythology-based, which i think is a great place to start when familar enough with the jargon associated with astrology.

this is from 'planets in synastry' by e. w. neville. i like this book, it has a harsh edge to some of the interpretations, and i do not necessarily agree with its position on the influence of planets in another's houses (it states that the planet person is hands down the most affected by say, that person's venus falling in your 4th house - i disagree because i think both people are affected, but in specific ways). here is what it says about moon-pluto aspects:

"there seems to always be an ambivalent quality to repsonses generated by aspects between moon and pluto, not only because these are rising from deep in the unconscious, but because such aspects bring together essentially inimical forces in the personalities. the moon seeks its fulfillment in emotional closeness, generosity of spirit and the kind of personal contentment which is derived from a strong sense of stability and tranquility. pluto's remote and faceless force for entropic change, coldly destroying what exists to prepare for something new and more vital, threatens the moon's hope for predictability and stability. yet, human discontent also has roots in unmet lunar needs, and the prospect of sweeping all away and seeking new fulfillments makes the moon's response to pluto's darkly magnetic. there is always something disturbing and unsettling about moon/pluto aspects; the degree to which this stirring of deep inner feelings manifests itself in action depends on the natal characteristics of the individuals.

the opposition can be a truly disturbing interaction, arousing the same sort of emotional responses as one feels when confronted with something terrifying yet intriguing. the moon person will feel that they are standing at the entrance to a dark and mysterious cave within which may lie all sorts of ghastly but fascinating terrors. the pluto person may be stirred into a difficult-to-manage kind of obsessive fascination with the moon person, a compulsion to 'do something', the focus of which will be determined by other links between the charts. usually these compulsive links resolve themselves in manageable ways, with the individuals not abandoning good sense even if they may elect to explore a little of this ambivalent fear/fascination."

well, anyways, hopefully that'll help!

take care,
c

Thank you chrissy! That was interesting! I will write more later when I am more awake!! Today I feel a bit groggy after such a busy weekend and late/early AM arrival...I am out of sorts for the moment!

His ASC is Pisces...so his chart ruler is Neptune. We also have his pluto sq my venus...I have always read that the pluto person controls the situation more, and the obsessions come from the planet person who is affected by the pluto person...your book seems to contradict that thought line. What are your thoughts?

I guess I am trying to figure out how we control each other emotionally...(I don't mean in a negative way...just wanting to feel I have the edge on what feels like a HUGE, way beyond myself love feeling for him). I am wondering if I move him this greatly as well...I believe I do, just want to explore it through astrology.

Interesting, I looked at the transits on the day we met...his EROS was exact degree entering his 7th house! I thought that was pretty cool!

Thanks again!
Kathleen

dear kathleen,

i know how ya feel - i'm so tired today. i really didn't get any rest over the weekend.

im not sure that book (the second one) words things in a way that make sense to me, either. i think pluto to personal planet aspects in synastry can be acted out in a number of ways, but i do think it's usually the person with the faster moving planet that is initially affected, sometimes overwhelmingly so. i like what that book says about pluto, though: "the pluto person may be stirred into a difficult-to-manage kind of obsessive fascination...". i like this because i think it sums up pluto's typical response - think of the story of hades/pluto and persephone. do you agree, as the pluto person in the equation? since pluto is your chart ruler, i'd think this aspect is particularly felt by you as well as he.

i share a similar aspect in my own relationship, only i am the personal planet person and he is the pluto person. in my case, it's my chart ruler venus which trines his chart ruler pluto. i have analyzed this aspect up and down, as it seems so much a part of our relationship that i have felt that need to understand why it's so intense.

•it's a good idea to check out the ruler connections, and in this case my venus ruler (my venus is in aquarius so it's ruled by uranus, which also happens to be right on my ascendant) is conjunct his pluto. this puts his pluto right on my ascendant.

•something else of note is that we each have a mutual reception - mine is between venus and uranus (my venus is in aqua and my uranus is in libra), and his is between venus and pluto (his venus is in scorpio and his pluto is in libra). this means our mutual receptions play a part in that aspect we share - my venus/uranus mutual reception trine his pluto/venus mutual reception.

•in our draconic charts, my venus is conjunct his pluto (i will start a new thread on draconic charts soon, i keep meaning to get around to it).

anyway, these are just some points to consider when analyzing aspects like this.

sincerely,
c

kathleen,

i found something else of note you might be interested in, regarding synastry apsects:
http://web.infinito.it/utenti/a/astrologica/relat_en.htm

this is the part of note, about inner planet aspects and inner planet to outer planet aspects (in synastry). i tried to clean it up a bit because whoever proof-read this text didn't do a very good job. anyway, i thought this was VERY interesting:

"Inner Planets
The inner planet aspects are the conscious dynamics, the kind of exchange that is in each person's awareness as they are interacting on a personal level. This is the exchange that goes on day to day. These planets enable individuals to recognise each other's needs and significance, challenge and cooperate with each other openly. This is a particularly vital dimension, the dimension of activity and consciousness, life giving and constant. Because the inner or personal planets are closer to individual awareness the individuals are less likely to project so one tends to own this area. There are 25 possible contacts here. Obviously we cannot expect that every space in the grid will have a contact. If it did one might have an extremely symbiotic relationship. 12 to 14 is a reasonable number of contacts to expect, depending on the type of relationship. The more contacts, the more dynamic, vital and energetic the relationship will be, also the more complicated and exclusive of others it can become, so there needs to be spaces in the togetherness! Within this field area there are exchanges between archetypal pairs that come into relationship already equipped with paradox!

Outer Planets to Inner Planets
Outer planets to inner planets involve two sets of comparisons, A's outer planets to B's inner planets and B's to A's. Contacts here represent unconscious energies emerging into consciousness. This is the kind of exchange that operates at a subliminal level and can be easy to project. Because of the tendency to project, one must avoid the tendency to define 'who is doing what to whom'. There may be an issue arising at some point if the aspects are difficult or there may be opportunities for growth through relationship if the aspects are easy. The person whose inner (personal) planet is 'hit on', is the one who may bring the issue into the consciousness. The field outlined is from Jupiter to Pluto, so they involve both the social Jupiter and Saturn and transpersonal Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. These are the undercurrents that most often manifest as issues.

From Jupiter to Pluto there are several layers or levels of consciousness leading to unconsciousness. The deeper layers are symbolised in the actual distances of the planets in orbit. In this way Jupiter to a personal planet constellates closer to consciousness and by the time you get to Pluto you are getting deeper and deeper into the layers of the unconscious. With Pluto in particular there is a feeling of compulsion, maybe a habit-forming relationship with the other person's personal planet. So if one person's Pluto aspects the other person's Venus there is a compelling quality to the relationship that is almost indescribable. It has enormous magnetic pull that, depending on the condition of Venus and Pluto in the individual natal charts, might fulfil some huge need and can often be the sort of thing that holds people together for better and often for worse - depending on how they handle the conscious dynamics. This area is where you get a lot of insight into the relationship, not just what is said or what is acted out but what lies beneath the surface. The transpersonal planets are often the ones most projected, because, between people of similar ages, they might reflect natal potentials into relationship and the other person becomes an easy means to subconscious denial.

This area is where the relationship gains maturity or falls apart. This is where people sometimes must address the undercurrents, the sorts of issues that constellate and arise from unconscious energy and where there's a real need to look within and say what do I want out of the relationship. Why are these issues arising. What are they telling you. Enormous growth can take place through these contacts. So can enormous destruction. Each person has a representative set of boxes of their own, so there are two boxes with 25 in each. Twice as many as in the conscious square! Twice the possibility of hits that affect the relationship. What are these little energy bursts doing to the relationship? Is the relationship able to stand the button pushing stuff in each separate individual?"

hope that helps in the understanding of synastry aspects (such as his moon opposite your pluto)!

sincerely,
c

Thanks chrissy!

So-when we are discussing my Pluto opposed his moon, the compulsion comes from which direction? Mine to his or his to mine?

The descriptions always seem to state the obsession qualities in a way that don't assign it to one or the other's planet.

Because we also have my Venus sq his Pluto, I have strong feelings and feelings of obsessiveness of sorts with regards to him. I can't figure out if I am the only one who is this crazy about him. Is he this crazy about me? (ie-he keeps so much inside, it is hard to get him to reveal his deeper feelings...as if he has never felt them so deeply). Can you see where I am searching for confirmation that these feelings are coming from Pluto? Does this make sense?

I understand the mutual passing of feelings and influence of both planets to each other back and forth. When Pluto is involved... let's see...My eros is conjunct his Pluto...does this mean that I draw out his feelings of sensuality and he draws out my feelings of change?

Sorry I am spending so much time clarifying this...I appreciate your help very much. I liked the passages you pasted...I am just trying to get further confirmtaion that I am reading these correctly.

Like I stated, we both have some strong Pluto influences towards each other's personal planets...maybe this is a balance of sorts? The my asteroids hitting on his Venus-Eros conjunction (with Amor conjunct as well in his 3rd!!) make me wonder how my asteroids are affecting him.

He moves me so greatly...in so many ways and inspires my poetic musings beyond belief. So much that when I express myself, he often seems overwhelmed...but not expressive as to his feelings inside! I can intuit his being overwhelmed but am looking for confirmation that it is not just me...(feeling so strongly compelled about him).

Does this all make sense? I realize I am talking in circles a bit...thanks for your patience!

Regards-
Kathleen

There is a very good link in this thread which might as well be bumped for interested users and I have a question conerning minor aspects (which the link explains in great detail) FASCINATING TO SAY THE LEAST!

In regards to Septiles which are known to create a spiritual bond between two individuals, how does it work? Let's say A's SUN Septile B's VENUS, and MARS and MERCURY for instance. Would that mean that all energy of the B person exemplified in Venus (sensual) and Mars (overt sexuality) will be met with a Spiritual energy, that the A person will channel this energy into Spirituality instead? Provided that there are physical attraction? Would the SEPTILE override it? It is just an interesting fact, or spiritual does not necesssarily mean Platonic? Or it could be very well PLATONIC for the person whose SUN or PLANET SEPTILEing your planets?

I am confused, obviously.

My Juno in eight house Scorpio exactly opposes my Mars-Venus conjunction in Taurus. This means marriage is very difficult to have any harmony or love expression. Then, I see that my Uranus conjuncts Juno EXACTLY. This means I am most likely to fall in love with a girl escaped from a lunatic asylum who might actually be an extra terrestrial.
Ok, I can handle that. Just gotta keep her off her spaceship. But then my best friend Saturn wanted to help and He positioned Himself [Deserves a capital "H"] exactly squaring the Venus/Mars conj and Uranus/Juno conj, right on the 5th house Leo. Perfect.

Thus, marriage/long term relationships for me have become very simple now. All I have to do is finish learning how to fly.

Iqhunk: I have the exact same placement
Mars conjunct Venus in Taurus opposing Juno that is conjunct my Uranus!

Let's start looking for our mad spouses! lol

I edited because I remember I read this article about the placement of Juno and the possibility of the wherebouts of meeting your partner...So let's say Juno in the 5th (fun places), Juno in the 12, that's the asylum for you IQhunk, I would say Juno in the 8th is very intriguing, how is Uranus in the 8th working for you, I have it as a transit currently. One description says, with this transit you never know what's gonna happen, one might get interested in the occult suddenly, or one might become sexually dysfunctional(!) How Uranian!

I would say a Juno conjunct Jupiter is an ideal placement in a chart, according to the myth, at least. Or it would indicate attracting and being attracted to the (academic/foreign type)?

Hi Neptune's Muse,
Well, there is company in misery after all.
How are you tackling this?

Uranus in 8th House Scorpio, it made me totally obssessed with each and everything occult from vampyres-magick-Crowley-Dee-HPLovecraft to Light work, chakras, kundalini theory. [Neptune/PLuto also conspired in my peculiar chart, actually triggering Kundalini for awhile.] Ultimately, it has made me the most non-sterotypical human being in my country/religion/race that I know of. People are stunned to know that I can find Chinese, Chilean and Latvian girls far more sexually attractive than those of my own Indian race! Three cheers to Uranus!

According to Magi Astrology, Juno is the house of mistresses and I guess my destiny could be to remain a single playboy with a black book the size of telephone directory.
Pity this poor bloke, no wife. Just 1000 odd flings with 1000 odd strange and weird and exotic girls. Boo Hoo. What a tragedy...

oh yes it does indeed! Well as far as Uranus in the 8th is concerned, I have been experiencing all sorts of weird phenomena ( I had no prior interest in metaphysics a couple of years ago) and have been as a result motivated to delve into the occult (how dramatic, it needs a stage light and red curtains to be properly said) lol.

But natal Neptune with transit pluto in the 5th has been attracting all sorts of savior relationships, if you know what i mean, sort of draining relationships, they need a therapist not a partner. Perhaps this is also due to Natal Neptune opposing Sun, Mercury, and Jupiter! I don't know. Yeah, well no luck in the relationships zone here either, IQhunk, Uranus opposing everything lovey-dovey, what are we going to do?! But, great things come to those who wait, we are waiting cosmic conspirators!

But I have been always interested in behind the scenes activity and mystery as a child, I used to ask my parents the weirdest questions, I never stopped asking until I found my answers.

Good luck to both of us!

What would Juno - (Sun+Jupiter) conjunction mean in synastry? Is on the cusp of 2nd/3rd house in leo.

I know that people are like permanent transits, so then I have transiting (his)Juno on my Sun+Jupiter, all the time I am around him, and also he has transiting (my)Sun+Jupiter on his Juno, all the time he is around me. This means that first he wakes up my Sun+Jupiter, and I wake up his Juno. But who must feels more comitment? and how he feels my Sun/Jupiter on his Juno?

I read also about Juno conjunct Jupiter is an ideal placement in a chart, according to the myth, at least...and also that with this aspect is more chance for longterm relationship.

Hi,
Does anyone know if the Juno-Venus connection works with Trines and sextiles too? Obviously as with all synastry it would be to a lesser degree presumably but just wondered if it still counts towards the same thing?

Also, am I reading this right that if person A's MC conjuncts person B's Juno that's a strong relationship aspect?

I don't know if I like the venu-juno conjunction. My best friend & her ex-husband had venus and juno conjuction and so did my aunt and her ex-husbad. Maybe it does signify a powerful energy between a couple...but it certainly cannot mean a life-time relationship!!!!!!!! I think there are other aspects that are more powerful than this.

hi there ^_^ this seems to be an old post, but it seems interesting. ^_^

I also have an exact Juno/Venus conjunction with my bf lol.. I wonder if it's good or bad, since my Mars quincunx my Juno at 1 degree, and so his Venus and my Mars are in quincunx.. ~_~;
But analyzing this aspect impersonally, I think that Juno is more about sex in affairs/relationships/commitment, yet it might just work as a kind of spell that can't really guarantee a relationship to last. It just adds more compatibility. But it takes more than Juno aspects in a synastry (other aspects) to tell if the relationship is really compatible or not. ^_^

*edited - 31-10-2010* Some 3 years after, I say that Juno is definitely about commitment and not sex and affairs. :P

To tell the truth, I also have that in the composite chart lol.. Venus/Mars/Juno conjunction in Cancer 2nd house, opposed to Jupiter in 8th house Capricorn.. it is supposed to be a nice compatibility aspect.. ^_^ william helped me to see the composite, and he said that this adds longterm ideas, but I wonder if it's coz of Jupiter or Juno, or both..

The Magi astrology claims that Juno-Venus conjunction is a sexual linkage, not as strong as Mars-Juno or even the more powerful Pluto-Juno. The more sexual linkages whether or not Juno is involved(it could be connections between Mars, Venus, Pluto)the more likely the relationship won't last because it's starts off too sexual.

libraschoice, according to the magi, the Juno-Venus linkage is THE most powerful sexual linkage between two people, not the Mars-Juno or the Pluto-Juno. They call the Juno-Venus linkage the Ultimate Sexual Linkage.
