Glaucus brought this up in one of the boards and I didn't know what it meant so I cruised around the internet to see what it meant in my chart...always wondered, just never looked into it yet.

So my Pluto is Stationary Direct. What exactly does this suggest? It would seem that it means that the planet has a greater energy in one's chart but most of the info I have found is vague at best.

Anyone know anything more about Pluto Stationary Direct in Libra (4th house)?

Grazie,

Love

I am interested in this topic too, I have a friend with a stationary venus in leo, I have heard that it makes the nature of the planet more expressed. Maybe a smartie on this site can give us more clues

Station - A planet makes a station when it appears motionless before reversing direction in its orbit as viewed from the Earth. Thus a planet can make a station (appear to stop and then move in the opposite direction) when going from retrograde to direct, or from direct to retrograde. Stationary planets are considered quite influential. When turning retrograde, they symbolize a reversal or delay. When turning direct, they indicate a renewal or revitalization. The Sun and Moon are never stationary and never retrograde.

Stationary - A planet in its station appears to be standing still between periods of Retrograde and Direct motion. Sun and Moon are never stationary.

Stationary Direct - A planet stationary at the position of returning to Direct Motion through the zodiac. This is considered to be among the most powerful positions for planetary influence, especially in Jyotish, or Indian (Vedic) astrology.
http://www.findyourfate.com/faq/s-glossary.htm

STATIONARY MOTION

A planet is said to "make a station" when it seems to stop moving. A planet has a greater influence in the birth chart when it is stationary because its energy is concentrated and focused at the degree of the Zodiac it occupies.

There are two types of stationary planets. The first one occurs when a planet that has been direct is about to turn retrograde. Movement in the affairs of life ruled by this planet slows down in preparation for an introspective phase of experience.

The second one occurs when a planet that has been retrograde is about to go direct. The person, who has been in an introspective phase regarding the affairs ruled by this planet, is preparing to move out into new experience. A stationary planet focuses its energy in one spot and in one way, and therefore, produces a deep impression on the person.

D. Stationary Planets. If a planet stood still within a day of the birth date, the planet becomes stronger and more important in the interpretion.
http://www.soulhealing.com/november00astro.htm

Stationary. Indicates constancy and duration of effects; planets therefore, have the sphere of their influence enlarged accordingly as their intrinsic nature warrants; i.e., benefic or malefic. A stationary planet indicates that the qualities, abilities or events signified by it are factors of great permanence and unyielding influence, altered only by extraordinary efforts or conditions. The good or evil indicated is very enduring.

Glaucus ~

So, first of all, thanks for all the great sites. Muchly appreciated!

So I suppose that if I am to interpret what it means in my chart, then I would have to take into account the fact that Pluto falls in my 4th house in Libra (and incidentally conjuncts the asteroid Karma - ouch!) and that bringing all these together means I have a heaping spoonful of stuff to...ahem...balance this time around?

Perhaps related to home and the family and the unearthing/dealing with those issues in both a timely and karmic manner?

Sigh.

Thanks,

Love

hello love are you by chance born around june 24th, 1978? because i have pluto stationary in libra as well- and it stationed direct exactly on my birthdate.

i have it in my 7th house- and i have a lot of pluto aspects (square mercury and jupiter; sextile venus, neptune and midheaven; semisquare saturn; semisextile uranus; uranus in scorpio in the 8th; as well as uranus retrograde but direct 27 days later which happens to be this whole last year for me).

i would love to find material that talks about stationary planets in greater depth. often what i have found is a token paragraph in a book or the site- but i feel there is more to them intuitively. i know that steven forest told me it was a pretty powerful aspect to have (pluto stationary).

Well...I tried to help. There is not anything else explaining stationary planets in depth. There is no books explaining it in depth. There are no sites talking about in depth.

Stationary Planets are just strong planetary energies. That's all they really are.

House placements, sign placements, and aspects involving them are much stronger than usual. This goes for natal, synastry, and transit.

Even an aspect involving a person's stationary outerplanet and another outerplanet can be significant due to the strength of the stationary outerplanet.

Wide aspects involving stationary planets can act like the aspect is really in orb.

Glaucus! You were VERY helpful! I have barely been able to find more than a definition so thanks so much. If it's not written anywhere then what can you do?

hvnlystarz ~ I was actually born June 23, 1976, not 78 but you were close!

I figure my Stationary Pluto is definitely making friends, as it were, with my Karma asteroid. I've learned to accept it. It's all good. LOL

when a planet is staionary direct it hasn't picked up its momentum yet so its still kind of acting Rx.

For a planet like Pluto, its slow anyway
but with a planet like Mercury or Venus (because they're faster) it would be more noticable.

kind of like being in limbo

Love,

This is from Astroinsight Report.

Pluto is Stationary

You are a "Pluto Person." You can be: the muckraker, producer, head shrinker, tax collector or investigator. You have some natural detective instincts and an ability to see through facades and appearances. You probe deeply and want to know what motivates people. Folks feel compelled to confide in you and tell their secrets.

Your life has not been easy and some or much of what you have lived through would have simply killed weaker folks. Your will power is extraordinary. You could be in the public eye a long time.

My gal has stationary retrograde Jupiter and stationary direct Neptune

Jupiter is stationary

You are truly a "Jovial Character." You can be a wheeler-dealer, a liberal, an optimist, a lawyer, a soldier of fortune or a preacher. In some ways, you are lucky. You tend to get away clean when others may be stopped by the heavy hand of authority. There is something very big about you. You are naturally affable and can reach out and network with people in a big way. Expand your limits. Major success is in your future.

Neptune is Stationary

You are a "Neptunian Character." You can be: the idealist, artsy type, movie star, rock star, mystic, chemist, socialist, spiritualist, or photographer. You have a great mystique and powerful aura. Like the Jaguar automobile, with plenty of good maintenance and fine tuning you can be a high performer. You're especially sensitive to your environment. Aquatic and nautical themes increase your good luck. For better or worse, your imagination is one of your biggest personality traits. You could be in the public eye a long time.

Wow ~ thanks so much Glaucus! I really appreciate all the info. I'd say that most of what the astro insight suggested is definitely true, some I wish were not true and some of it I would like to think is indeed true.

SO thanks a bundle. Where did you get the info from the Astroinsight report?

glaucus- i didn't mean to say your links you provided weren't good enough! i am sorry if that came across that way what i meant is that i have been doing lots of online research as well as looking into books and i cannot find a lot of information. i did come across an interesting article by eric francis on the topic of retrogrades though!
http://planetwaves.net/cainer/archive/003480.php

and somewhere on his site he talked about stationary retrogrades but i cannot seem to find the link sorry!

your information was very helpful glaucus you seem to be like me in your avid search for information- and it's great that you share the links that you find. if i come up with anything else i will post them as well

oh- as an aside- i found a great book on retrogrades but it doesn't speak to the stationary direct situation. it's called "karmic astrology: retrogrades and reincarnation" by martin schulman. GREAT book!!!
