Which one of these would you say is most potent and powerful for instant attraction? would you say Mars/Venus, Venus/Uranus, Moon/Uranus, Moon/Mars, Sun/Venus, Venus/Moon. Just curious about your opinion and experience.

i have had his mars on my venus a couple times and the initial attraction was insane- but it fizzled out if other things weren't there to take it to another level or if aspects were there that drug it down into the dirt (so to speak).

I really feel that any of them can be most attraction. I will tell you the reason. I feel that it matters the orb of the aspect. After all the narrower the orb,the more powerful the affect. I was also surprised that Venus-Ascendant aspects aren't included. Even Ascendant-Ascendant aspects

I think a Moon conjunct Venus with 5 minutes of arc would be more powerful of an attraction than a Venus conjunct Mars with 5 degree orb. I think a Venus trine Jupiter with 12 minutes of arc would be more powerful than a Sun trine Venus with 6 degree orb.

the nature of the aspect is a factor too. conjunction, oppositions, squares tend to be more intense than trines, sextiles. that's why they are only used with midpoint astrology along with semisquares, sesquiquadrates. Midpoints are very sensitive points, and it takes an intense aspect to trigger them.

There is very strong attraction between my gal and me.

Her Pisces Ascendant opposes my Virgo Ascendant with 16 minutes of arc.
Her Venus in Taurus trines my Virgo Ascendant with only 3 minutes of arc...that's the most exact of all our synastry aspects too.
Both those aspects indicate strong attraction. She actually has Venus sextile Ascendant, and my Ascendant links to it. That's a significant aspect configuration to indicate a very strong attraction, connection.

I would also look at midpoints involving those planets, points too. I am into Cosmobiology which uses only hard aspects and focuses a lot on midpoints. I only use 1 degree orb for midpoints. I use only 10 minutes of arc for declination midpoints because 1 degree orb is used for declination aspects. I feel that it's logical to use much smaller orbs for midpoints of declinations because we use much smaller orbs for midpoints of longitude.

my gal's Venus opposes my Sun/Venus midpoint with 10 minutes of arc. Her Sun squares my Venus/Mars midpoint with 20 minutes of arc,and my Sun squares her Venus/Mars midpoint with 54 minutes. My Mars conjuncts her Venus/Uranus midpoint with 18 minutes of arc. Her Mars oppose my Venus/Pluto midpoint with 51 minutes of arc. My Sun squares her Venus/Pluto with 42 minutes of arc. My Moon conjuncts her Venus/Midheaven midpoint with 9 minutes of arc. My Venus conjuncts her Moon/Jupiter midpoint with 38 minutes of arc. Her Venus squares my Uranus/Midheaven midpoint with 8 minutes of arc. Her Venus contraparallels my Mars/Node with 1 minute of arc.

It's interesting that you mention the narrow orbs because the other day I was looking at different couples charts and a few famous ones as well. The one that struck me was the synastry chart I was reading between Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, because they have about 22 square between them (real narrow ones that involve Venus, Moon, Sun). Alot of squares and oppositions bring almost too much excitement.

How about Venus square Mars at an orb of 1*40? Too strong or not strong enough?

Definitely venus conjunct ascendant!

*edit: and moon opposite or conjunct mars can cause a strong attraction... although it can be irritating at times.

I haven't enjoyed Mars conjunct my Moon/Venus conjunction (at least so far ), but there are other aspects involved too (like a square to my Mars, an inconjunct to my Uranus/ascendant, etc).

The person I am most attracted to on all levels/6 states of being...Moon Conj Moon, Moon Conj Venus, and Juno Conj Uranus, NN Conj Venus, Pluto & Uranus Opp Moon and Venus the list goes on and on. It is Un re-quited though. My attraction is incredible! He on the other hand does not feel the same pull. These are very close aspects. I agree that orb is dominate, but that can also effect the fear of loss, loss of individuation by some less evolved types. Intensity is fearful for some, and attractive to others who can hold the flame in their own hands.

I agree, Dulce

My gal's Scorpio Moon conjuncts my Scorpio Sun with 3'56 orb. Our Moons trine with 1'47 orb.

May I check out your synastry,Node? I am just curious. BTW..I never felt easy with challenging Uranus aspects in synastry because those can indicate instability, detachment, unpredictability. Those are things that I don't want in my relationship....especially with my strong Scorpio,Water influence. My gal doesn't want that either with the Moon conjunct Saturn in Scorpio,Moon conjunct Pluto, and Venus in Taurus in 2nd.

Node, that is so true what you said about some people can't handle the flame or the 'intensity'. Intense really belongs with other Intense or there in no real balance and receptiveness.

Oh yes....My sun trines his moon and while my moon makes no aspect to his sun (they're only sextile by sign) it is in the 8th house and can therefore "relate" to his Scorpio sun. Our moons are opposite by sign but not degree;mine is in virgo and his is in pisces. But my moon is trine neptune which can also "identify" with his pisces moon. (We can both be spacey sometimes )

My parents had Sun conjunct moon and I assumed that this aspect was their downfall because my father was the moon and very resentful of my mother's prescence (sp?). But then HSC pointed out to me that it was actually a very good aspect and it may have been the reason they actually got married in the first place. It makes sense because they don't have any other strong apects in their synastry Uranus sitting on my Father's NN.

Glaucus, I am not the most computer literate Tool in the box. Airbrushing sensitive data, saving correctly, and pasting here is a challenge I have not mastered. Photo bucket is a pain in the arse too, plus I don't want my stuff in their system. Or maybe go to the library and get "Pasting Astrology Charts for dummies"......also the Pluto/Uranus thing is tied into Mars as well Anima/Animus issues power control all those lovely things that make for boiling cauldron. Intimacy and Surrender are key. But it takes 2 as LC said, intensity fizzles out like a bottle rocket when not recieved by the other.

Node,

Actually didn't want you to show me charts. Actually I hate reading those synastry charts at astro.com. Its too much work for me.

I was just wondering if I can get the birthdata of you and the person that you are attracted to. I have Solar Fire professional astrology software, and that's how I do my charts and check them. I use only that program to check declination aspects.

another thing is that challenging Saturn aspects might have to do with hindering attraction. I hate seeing those in synastry. I wouldn't want to see one involving Sun,Moon,Venus,Mars, and Ascendant.

I like to see mutual venus aspects between the charts for mutual attraction. Exceptions are Venus-Ascendant aspects and Ascendant-Ascendant aspects because Ascendant aspects are the same as Descendant aspects which have to do relationships. I also wonder about Moon-Ascendant,Sun-Ascendant aspects.

Another thing too is people also deny the attraction. Also...there are circumstances that can prevent somebody from being attracted to that person. It can be certain prejudices about looks, weight, skin color, ethnicity, attitude, gender, social status, career, financial status, religion, distance etc. A lot of people have prejudices as well as just preferences about what they want in a person.
That's just the reality of life

an example. a male homosexual man's Neptune conjunct my Venus, and I wasn't attracted to him because I am heterosexual. He was my landlord/roommate for 2 years. I rented a room in his 3 bedroom house.

another example. a woman's Uranus trines my Venus with 22 minutes of arc,her Moon conjuncts my Venus with 2'56 orb,her Pluto squares my Venus with 1'07 orb,my Moon sextiles her Mars with 2'38 orb,and her Venus trines my Venus with 3'17 orb. You would think that she and I would have incredible attraction to each other and be great lovers. Well..that's totally not the case at all. There is no way that can ever happen. It it would be immoral, unnatural.

It's because that woman is my mother!

So you see...aspects like those don't necessarily mean romantic, sexual attraction. It could also you can indicate friendly, family type of love. You have to take certain things into account like if they are related.

Some people believe in reincarnation. It is possible that parent and child could have been married or lovers in a pastlife. Also the roles of parent and child could have been reversed in pastlife.

I agree with all of the attraction aspects in synastry. They can be overwhelming, passionate, allconsuming, just wonderful.

But personally I think there can be also an attraction, which is indicated by complementing signs / placements/ aspects in the natal chart.
For example: If a woman has Venus square Pluto and a man (or vice versa) has Mars in Scorpio (or Mars conjunct/ opposite / square Pluto or Mars in the 8th house or Pluto in the 1st house), then there would be complementing energies: Venus-Pluto in her chart, Mars - Pluto in his chart, and I think it could indicate a strong attraction of a Plutonian nature (very passionate).

I also think (and it has already been mentioned here) that people react differently to certain synastry aspects. For example: I just LOVE Moon or Venus in hard aspect to Uranus, but my Moon is in aquarius, so the Uranus-energy is familiar to me. I need that spark, that electricity in the air, and also that space and independence.
But I think if someone had maybe Moon in hard aspect to Saturn, he or she wouldn`t be too amused by that Uranian energy.
On top of that I think, if people complement each other in their natal horoscopes and they have fitting synastry aspects, then magic can happen. (it`s a possiblity, not a must, as Raymond pointed out so truthfully; well truthfully in my opinion).
For example: that woman with Venus square Pluto and that man with Mars in Scorpio could deal well with a Venus-Pluto aspect or a Mars-Pluto-aspect, but probably wouldn`t like a Venus-Uranus-aspect all too much (Unless they maybe have Aquarius-Sun or Moon or AScendant in Aquarius).

Maybe that would also explain unrequited attraction a bit. If one connects easily to the synastry aspects, while the other one doesn`t.
For example: That woman with Venus square Pluto meets a man, who has Venus in Aquarius in hard aspect to Uranus.
And in their synastry they happen to have a Venus-Pluto-conjunct.
I think they would both feel the effect of that aspect, but while the woman would probably love it (oh all the wonderful depth and intensity), the man could be scared away by exactly this depth and intensity (Oh help me, with her around I cannot breathe, I need to get out of here, quickly).

So what do you think of my theory?

darkdreamer, I completely agree with you. I think it is VERY important to first look at each individual's natal chart before looking at the synastry. Also, to look at house placements along with aspects. For example, my boyfriend has Venus in Aquarius, and I have Venus in the 11th house.

Yeah. I agree with all of that.

I always check the natal charts first before looking at the synastry. I am not going to get involved with somebody who has challenging Venus- Uranus aspects. That's just asking for heartbreak because the unpredictable, restless, independent, detached love nature of that person. I don't want those aspects in my synastry with a gal. I definitely don't want challenging Mars,Saturn,Neptune,Uranus,Pluto aspects in my synastry either. I am lucky that I don't have that with my gal.

Being strong water, I would hate for somebody to have little water...at least have Sun or Moon in watersign. I actually like Moon in watersign better because I feel that emotional compatibility is important. I definitely have that with my gal whose Moon is not only in the same element as my Moon but also in the same sign as my Sun. I couldn't ask for anything more.

She and I agree that we a are very much alike and have a lot in common and we complement each other. She has Sun,Mercury, and Mars in Aries. I can relate with fire and airsigns with my Venus square Mars in Aquarius,Moon conjunct Mars,Moon square Jupiter, and my Jupiter conjunct IC in Sagittarius as well as North Node in Aquarius in 5th/South Node in Leo in 11th axis. I do have 4 planets in 3rd house(associated with Gemini)including Mercury, and so I have Gemini-like qualities. I even have Midheaven and Saturn in Gemini. I have Uranus trine Midheaven. Those help me relate to my gal's strong fire chart. Her Jupiter-Uranus(stationary Jupiter) conjunction in Sagittarius is conjunct my Jupiter-IC conjunction in Sagittarius helps too. My gal's Aries planets(Sun,Mercury, and Mars) fall in my 8th house, and my Scorpio planets(Sun,Mercury, and Venus) fall in her 8th house. 8th house is the house of sex. Her 8th house ruler,Mars sextiles my 8th house ruler Mars with 25 minutes of arc.

She has Mars oppose Pluto, and I have Mars biquintile Pluto. She also has Venus quindecile Pluto, and I have Venus in Scorpio. She has Mercury quindecile Pluto, and I have Mercury in Scorpio. She has Mars trine Neptune, and I have Mars square Neptune. She has Venus sesquiquadrate Neptune, and I have Venus parallel Neptune. She has Moon conjunct Saturn, and I have Moon square Saturn. She has Scorpio Moon conjunct Pluto, and I have Moon quincunx Pluto. She has Moon oppose Mars, and I have Moon conjunct Mars. She has Moon sextile Neptune, and I have Moon square Neptune. Those are our affinities.

I definitely take affinities into account. Stephen Arroyo wrote that affinities are important in his book,RELATIONSHIP CYCLES.

I would definitely check the midpoints. I think those are very underrated. Those are significant in Cosmobiology and Uranian Astrology. Noel Tyl uses midpoints, and so does Robert Hand. Noel Tyl uses quindecile bigtime.

Blue Eyes 24;

Venus in aquarius and Venus in 11, that`s exactly what I mean.
May I ask you, do you and your boyfriend have strong Uranus-aspects in your synastry - chart? And what are your experiences with Uranus-aspects in synastry?

Bullhead,
you said the Venus-Mars-conjunction didn`t do anything to you, but you felt the Venus-Mars-square strongly; with the Venus - Mars-square have you been the Venus-person?

Glaucus,

I agree absolutely on the importance of Moon-element-compatibility, either to the Sun or to the Moon. Even though having said that, I remember that I have often been drawn to men with Taurus- or Scorpio-moon, and my Moon is in Aquarius. A contradiction?
Or maybe the reason for this was that my Venus is square Pluto and My Moon is in the 2nd house. Don`t really know.

However, your synastry has a lot of affinities, it seems to confirm what I think.
But what do you think: if there are many affinities, but just a few synastry-aspects, can the affinities on their own produce some kind of attraction or are they only supporting the connections, made through the synastry aspects?
For example (I got stuck on the Venus-Pluto-example) if there is that affinity of Venus square Pluto and Mars in SCorpio, but no Pluto-aspects, is the affinity enough to draw people together?

I have even one more question. In another thread I read that you are using parallels or contraparallels.
Do you only use them, if there is already an aspect between the two planets?
And what would you say: if there is a parallel of Venus and Mars (09 minutes of arc), and the Venus and Mars are both located in the same sign, but too far from each other to be considered as a conjunction normally (Orb: 8°), does the parallel draw those planets into a conjunction? Or is it still too wide?
