But yes, you definitely have a type.
My best friend has her ruler of 7 also in 3rd house, and every single man she had been involved with, had Mercury in 1st house (except for the Psycho - but that was a big mistake) and additionally was wearing glasses, which, to her, was an outer sign of "intellectuality" and "intelligence". She`s cured of that belief now, luckily.
Funny enough, even her best friend (me) fits this description: Mercury in 1st house and I am wearing glasses. lol quote:

To me the emphasis is a bit different. The 1st and 7th house are about your "attraction-pattern" in relationships, like it comes naturally to you. I can`t explain this well in English, but the 1st house is what you are in a very physical way, in an almost subconscious way. You just ARE in that house, you don`t think of it. You look in a certain way, walk in a certain way, act in a certain way (that would be the Mars-aspect), naturally, instinctually, so the attraction between 1st and 7th house is also a very natural one, based on the "instinctual self" of the other one.The 5th and the 4th house are more about expressing emotions, like Sun and Moon; here you have reached a state of awareness, that you maybe lack in the 1st house (of course it depends on the planets and aspects to the 1st house).
In the 1st house you have affects, spontanous, primal, instant reactions based on your instincts; in the 5th and 4th house you react based on your emotions.
Also, the 5th house is about expressing your emotions and therefor can tell you a lot about your sexual style. Or what you enjoy. Your affairs, what gets your romantic drive going.

lol Or it means that you seek some very sensual pleasure or that you need to feel secure, before oyu can, well, you know what I mean, or that someone can seduce you by cooking for you, taking care of you in practical regards, and of course massages, a sensual, physical touch wouldn`t be rejected I guess, if this ruler isn`t afflicted, that is.

Well, your ruler of 5 in 2nd house is a Sun-Venus-connection.
Their Venus in 1st house would be Venus-Mars and their Venus in aspect to Sun would be Sun-Venus.
It would fit, yes.Well, the 5th house is a Sun analogy. So, you have Sun-Venus (ruler of 5th house in 2nd house), which means, of course you would get along with other Sun-Venus,people, but there owuld be a great attraction to Sun-Mars (because Mars is the polaritiy of Venus), Moon-Venus (Sun-Moon are also polar) or even Moon-Mars.
Since Sun and MOon are polar opposites and compliment each other, I would also look to the connections of the 4th house (Moon-analogy). Someone, with ruler of 4 in 2 would be able to understand your emotional expression very well. Also, your ruler of 5 in 2 would be attracted to someone with Sun in Scorpio /8th house or ruler of 5 in 8, too, because again, opposites attract.
In a nutshell I would say; same connections lead to feelings of closeness and familiarity (like Moon in 11 and ruler of 4 in 11 for example), whereas polar connection lead to attraction, some kind of Yin-Yang-effect.
The complimentary opposites are Sun-Moon, Venus-Mars, Jupiter-Saturn, Neptune-Pluto (Mercury and Uranus are neutral or more mentally inclined; but a Venus-uranus may be very much drawn to a Mars-Uranus; it`s like pretty Venus is sighing: "Oh, how I wish for some excitement here in my tower high above the rest of the world!" and Mars comes on his motorcycle and shouts up to her: "Come down, baby, and jump behind me. I`m gonna give you the ride of your life." Venus wants, wishes for and somehow gets Mars doing it for her, giving it to her - pun fully intended. lol)

I know there are different views on this one, but according to my opinion and experience, yes.
The 1st house, 5th house, Sun and Mars are the active players for both sexes, whereas the 7th house, 4th house, Moon and Venus are more receptive.
The receptive planets tell you more about what you wish for, desire, need, whereas the active planets tend to get going to get things done, to get what they want. Even in a woman Mars tells us how she is becoming active and actually DOING things. The 1st hosue is always about your self, no matter what sex, and Venus is telling us about what we are attracted to in both sexes.NOw, having said that, it might be that women tend to live their Moon and Venus a tad stronger than men do and vice versa. But for example I`ve been always been more attracted to men who fulfilled my Venus-placements than men with my Mars-placements (those seemed to be more drawn to me than the other way round). Well, I still would also look to the Moon for both sexes, because the Moon is such an important part of our psyche. But Moon connections are very emotionally charged; We should not forget that. The ruler of my 7th is Mercury in Scorpio. Mercury sits in the 12th house and forms one aspect- a conjunction to Venus in the 11th.I tend to date artists. My 5th house has Taurus on the cusp as well, so many singers, songwriters, instrumentalists... All of the men have had some kind of musical talent. They tend to all be secretive, silent types who I think need "saving". I think that's how the 12th house placement manifests for me. I like the underdogs. Also- I'd say 90% of all the men I've dated have had a Libra AC, Scorpio AC with prominent Venus, Mars in Scorpio or Gemini, and/or a Taurus Sun They've also had the Sun either conjunct or trine Neptune. Pluto in hard aspect to the Moon and/or Venus (prob representing me and all my Pluto)... And Uranus has always been highly dominant in their charts.. Aqua Moons, Aqua AC, Uranus conj. the AC, Aqua Suns, Sun in the 11th house folks like myself, Mercury/Venus in Aquarius, and my personal favorite Sun/Moon/Venus in hard aspect to Uranus. IP: Logged |

My 7th House ruler, Venus, is in the 1st conjunct my Asc (Scorpio). Not sure what it is suppose to symbolize. I only dated one other Scorp and he was a drug addict so it didn't last long. IP: Logged |

I guess Saturn is not a very receptive planet, since he is a Task-and-Discipline master? Neither are Mars and Pluto, my 5th house ruler. What does that mean? that I like the strong personality type, or I'm not very receptive in love myself?My 7th house ruler is Saturn in my 12th house. I do feel attracted to the quiet secretive type, who can be both a sweet parent to me at one time and a little child requiring pamper at another. I adore men who are dreamy, artistic and with fluid imagination, but I also like and get along well with men who are passionate about their work (ruler of 5th house in 10th house?) Though the other ruler of my 5th house is Pluto in 4th house, I've never had or loved a Cancer man. IP: Logged |

I second you on that and I'm a Cancer Sun. Cancer influenced men just don't do it for me.I have my Jupiter(Aries) in the 7th house and my Moon(Pisces) is in the 5th house. My Jupiter trines my Uranus(Sagitarrius) and opposes my Ascendant(Libra). My moon opposes my Uranus.
I seem attract Aquarian and Capricorn influenced men.

Wow!  You know, you could have a very lucrative career in helping people seduce others b/c you are so right in every single thing you just said! You're good.
Re: the "sexy body" thing...I don't demand an adonis, but it doesn't hurt.  I think the way this works for me, is that the man I'm with becomes the sexiest man in the world to me, I am very attached & attracted to him physically. quote:

The ruler of my 7th is Mercury in Capricorn in the 7th house & I dont date anybody.I guess the Capricorn influence could suggest a delay in dating or somthing. Going by what others have said, I should be dating an older (cap) wealthy (2nd house) clever (mercury) guy Or he cound end up being a repressive (cap), stubborn (tau) old coot (cap) who has another wife somwhere(mercury - mutability) Or he could be an old fella who writes about food IP: Logged |

My 7th house ruler(Jupiter) is in the 4th(Libra) conjunct my 5th house cusp.I agree with you Green Fairy...I too want a nurturing partner,someone who will "take care" of me emotionally & physically.And NOW I know why I like Cancer Rising men.(Feelin kinda stupid that I never put 2 & 2 together  )Also I tend to attract guys whose Moon falls in my 4th,as well as my Moon in their 4th.Oh and my 4th is intercepted,running from 28* Leo-1* Libra.Very interesting....------------------

I tend to attract/be attracted to Saturn/Neptune influenced guys or momma's boys. Or Geminis, but i guess i can blame my Venus(!?) for that. (Pisces DCS - Neptune in Cap. 4th H)

LOL I think this was a bit of a misunderstanding. It`s actually you who are the one being the "sexy body" astrologically. Even though quite frankly I added this intepretation just for fun to show how the symbolism can be combined.

(Well, I know there are several who wouldn`t agree with the 2nd house symbolizing the body, but I have found that to be correct very often)Since this connection is within your chart, it is a part of your personality.
