I have Mercury in Gemini in house I, I can be pretty smart for some things involving logic, as long as it doesn't involve maths.(i know kind of contradictory)but I mean that. I like math but I just can't get them, and if I do, I'll forget what it was all about two or three days later. I don't have any aspects between my mercury and my moon and I don't cosider myself to be emotionally intelligent. I'm also not very good at expressing myself, but that could by Capricorn Moon. Most of the book-worms I know are Aquarious/Gemini/Virgo Sun. One of the smartest guy I've known is a Gemini Sun, Taurus Mercury. Also a book-worm, isn't necessarily intelligent. Anyway I think most of us think of intelligence as someone very intelectual, but like some posts said before, there are differnt types. (interpersonal, musical intelligence etc etc) so, which one where you talking about? IP: Logged |

StarsInteresting you say that, Saturn is the other planet in my son's Grand Trine with Uranus and Mercury. Also the chart of his class-mate who, like I say, is learning disabled. The Moon changes sign on their day of birth, they may well have a different sign. And different houses. So I think the energy will work out different ways. Maybe she will find a unique way of communicating and expressing her intelligence outside of the standard literacy requirements of formal education. IP: Logged |

perhaps the other child has one or more of the planets making a negative aspect to the Ascendant. or perhaps in the 4th 8th and 12th. two of those houses being one of loss and the other of hidden proportions.IP: Logged |

Question: would Mercury Rx make someone incredibly retared?People have called me: unreasonable, illogic, dumb, reckless, unthoughtful, etc. but I thought it was all just a coincidence. ------------------ Asc: Scorpio Sun: Leo Moon: Taurus IP: Logged |

for the love of gawd ....seriously? Intellegence tests are crap.education is not intellegence nor the ability to take tests. People calling you stupid are just mean. There are so many kinds of intellegence... book smart street smart intuitive smart highly intellegent people have way more stress for one thing...I tell the kids, while you are sleeping I am thinking... simple people are happier - if you don't think about it, you don't stress about it. intellegence and happiness do not go together much. nor does wealth and happiness. my first husbands mother never learned to read or write. she is one of the smartest people I know. ....libra. I know highly intellegent people who lose thier mind, literally..... capricorn I have seen educated people who use thier paid for intellegence to belittle and look down on other people ....leo It truly takes all kinds. I have seen very smart people lose thie rmind from excessive drug use.........aries I have seen really smart people act downright stupid when it comes to other people and thier feelings. ....taurus I have seen people that are not that smart live happy lives without complications...and it makes me wonder...exactly who is smarter here? They get it. so 30-40 posts later....here I am wondering what does the original poster mean by intellegent? the ability to take tests? the ability to be happy? the ablility to communicate properly with out stepping on toes...like a dancing politician? not being an jackass? I know a lot of educated idiots. A Lot.
Is this a thread designed for some to say oh it's merc in the smart sign. maybe gemini...geez, now I feel better, I have that and am smarter than most other people?
all I am saying is intellegence is relative and subjective.

sunshine ~I share your pique I would also like to state my opinion that no astrological planets, signs, placements, or aspects can **MAKE** anyone *DO* or *BE* anything. The natal chart is a map of potentials ONLY. IP: Logged |

I agree with you TTB and sunshine lion that grades/level of education are not necessarily an indicator of intelligence, because as I said there are so different many types of intelligence (as a teacher I know this very well). Mr Gem didn't do well at school and he never got a university education, but he's one of the most intelligent people I know. I hope that my post hasn't been taken the wrong way - I was just stating what my particular strengths are (as well as my weaknesses). I am proud of my strengths, and why not - everyone should be proud of their individual talents and skills no matter what area of life they happen to be in. Everyone has intellect and skills, and it's not a competition. But each person should have (and be allowed to have, without being cut down by others) the self-esteem to recognise and be proud of their own strengths. Just my opinion.IP: Logged |

you are fine gem..celebrate your strengths and succeses, just don't measure others by them! But never ever look down on someone who's weak where you are strong. or think you are smarter or better due to education or the ability to score well on tests. THere is nothing wrong with a man or woman who may not do that well on those tests, works hard and is a kind person and doesn't know algebra.. We all contribute to society and kindness, giving and a lot of other things make more of an impact on our world than a lofty taker witha high iq. We all contribute. Every person has something to bring and a gift to share. Simple or complex niether is better. Everyone matters. simple things confound the wise. IP: Logged |

Thanks sunshine lion, and I absolutely agree. I have met people who do look down on others and compare themselves in order to puff up their own ego, and it's not a nice trait. A person who is truly secure in themselves will not have the need to put others down (directly, indirectly, or internally/mentally). We all have a part to play in the big picture, and thank God for that. IP: Logged |

black_lily: I have Mercury Rx in Aquarius. It just makes me better at arguing on paper I guess. My boyfriend has the weirdest thought process, and he is super argumentative, even though he doesn't make sense half the time (well I can see where he got his conclusions, being a fellow Aqua Merc, but I'm more mutable and not as stubborn). He has a Mercury Aqua at 29 degrees. IP: Logged |

As I said, I didn't mean to nitpick, I just didn't know if that was also an accepted way of spelling it. It looked odd, but I wasn't sure. I'm not a native speaker myself.IP: Logged |

It's an easy typo to slip in if you are typing fast. Amowls ~ a while back I lived just outside the City of London. More than one person I met working in finance and related areas told me they were dyslexic. They had found themselves a (lucrative) field of employ that relied on problem solving and maths. No essays required. Personally I think Mercury shows how we communicate, how we think. Like any other part of the chart, it's aspect can be used to it's best or neglected. IP: Logged |

bluemoon, please forgive me now for typos, misspellings and grammatical errors past present and future. I would like it if you would do it now so I have proof that I can later refer to. I know I am the worst offender and it bugs you..so...forgive me? please? ...as an excuse my keyboard sticks and I can't type as fast as I think. I am always in a hurry and multiple other reasons I can't think of right now.IP: Logged |

Your posts are easy to read. They have structure. Text speak, lack of paragraphs and disregard of punctuation make posts hard to read. I make plenty of typos and grammatical errors. I just go back and change them. It's because I have Taurus Mercury Conjunct Saturn. I am sloooooowwww. Quite often I will spend so long writing a post several people will have already answered the question.
