When ugliness raises its head, we need to AFFIRM Love and Harmonious Acceptance.

They mesh very well with my own direct experience when in deep states of meditation creating deep balance. I've referred to it ever since as the Universal Field of Compassion.

However, it is entirely fine for us to co-create a loving, intimate partnership with another person, of whatever kind. It's that co-creating part that's the challenge:

acknowledging our power in the relationships we have created or colored in a particular way;

acknowledging our power to change our input into them and change their color and outcomes;

acknowledging our power to love all and learn to love each one from the same Source of Compassion.

It's a challenge to learn, because we aren't taught it. There are pitffalls, but it can be done.

What ilunatique was speaking about freedom as important as love. In Zen/Buddhism it is addressed as non-grasping. Since all our relationships with our fellow humans are transient anyway ... on their way to some other form/space/time ... it does us no good to grasp at them as if we can keep them.

I am reminded of this having just lost one of my best friends. I no longer have his familiar form or voice on the phone with me, but I can still talk with him, even connect with him in dreams as he may allow. We get attached to forms and when they change it is like grieving over spilled milk. Yes, we miss them and grieve -- but that can be a good and healthy thing to remind us how much they mean to us and always will. They don't have to be gone from our lives, just liberated to other forms we will be able to appreciate soon enough.

A lifetime on Earth is short -- very short. I have resolved to live more aware of what kindness, friendship, and compassion I can offer when I have opportunity. Which is every day.

If you feel this way, be careful to not have a boundary issue.

I did not have boundaries at all in my past and yes, it allowed me to connect easily and love freely but people are not all good.

Love everyone, be free, just don't forget about yourself too.
