Well... I wasn't going to say anything, as the champagne offer was very sweet.

Yeah... you could have just offered me an ice cold beer and I would have been just as happy.

This is quite nice... charming company and champagne. You've made my Thursday, Jw!

Oh, we have to make sure it doesn't go flat? Uhmmm... don't think you will have to worry about that Do we have to stay somewhat civilized? That is the key on how quick I can kick back this bottle I'm kidding! I wouldn't do that. Not the first time anyway..

Oh, I wasn't going to offer you sweet champagne, it's Brut or as some prefer Brute.

Well, nothing pleases better than someone easy to please. A glass of champagne is very civilized---if you're into civilization It's hot, maybe some cold ones would be better at that.

You OK Oxy? Just heard the power is off in much of NY and extending all the way to Toledo OH. They are saying a power plant or distribution center caught fire----maybe with a little help from our erstwhile fiends.

I hope no one was injured. It was such a brief report. My daughter is near Detroit & they`re out but northwest MI is ok. Thank goodness cuz, we went from a steady diet of 60 degrees to 93 right now.

Juniperb-how is your daughter?

jwhop, yes, I'm ok! Thank you for your concern

The only person I was able to call for a while was in Florida and the first message I was able to retrieve was from Nevada. Out-of-state calls weren't having as many problems as the local calls.

I have never seen NY like that before-I mean, pitch black.

1scorp-I would definitely take j.w. up on that champagne offer if I were you. How odd, one of my favorite beers is made by j.w. dundee. coincidence?

I will admit that walking amongst the herds of people in the street felt eerily familiar.

Stretch-----yawn Hey, where did the day go?

Glad to see you're ok Oxy! Can't imagine wandering around between all those skyscrapers in the dark!

So, you're a fan of Honey Brown? j.w. dundee----Well we're everywhere and into everything--just about. No coincidences!

Geez 1scorp, judging by all the empties laying around you must have had some friends in for a party after I went to bed. Who's the near beer drinker?

Yeah, let's all party---but not tonight. I've got a lot of cleanup to do.

Yep, love me some Honey Brown. I used to go to a bar that sold $1 pints of it on Saturdays.

The pitch-blackness was pretty strange-especially while on the bus on the bridge back to my neighborhood. Luckily I was with a few other people, and the busdriver was nice enough to yell out the stops. (heck, the busdriver was nice enough to be drive without any traffic lights!)

jwhop, you clean too?

Hmmm, don't think the bars carry it down here! Might be a mistake going into a bar asking for Honey Brown. Who knows who or what you might get

Hey, have to say I was proud of you New Yorkers yesterday---you handled the problem well

Yeah, I'm just a cleaning fool. Ambidextrous you know--twin feather dusters, my own matched set.

So long as you don't wear a frilly apron, I'm impressed.

at the Honey Brown comment.

I think the response was very typical New York. We all have somewhere we either need to want to be and so we don't just sit around and dawddle. NYer are always on the move. Minus the horrific panic of course, the herds in the street were very reminiscent of 9/11.

CNN has some interesting pictures of the blackout.

Ambidextrous, eh? Oh that just opens up a WORLD of possible comments.

I don't think the apron is overly frilly. It's gingham--standard issue. I reserve the gold lamé for special occasions.

I prefer a heavy dark Bavarian beer myself------with anchovy pizza

Hmmm, I was talking about the calm during the emergency and the fact there was almost no crime. Pretty remarkable!

Yeah ambidextrous but I never let my left hand know what the right is doing

I did hear about some carjackings on the expressway. But I was impressed with the calm attitude too. People actually weren't shoving each other on the street! Pretty remarkable.

I like anchovies..in salads. I leave it to my Aries brother to eat them on pizza (I'm a fan of black olives on pizza).

I like dark brews too. But I don't think I've ever had Bavarian beer.

Gingham, huh? Haven't worn gingham in 5 years, since I dressed up as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz for Halloween. It was quite a sight.

sorry, all tapped out of appropriate witty things to post about that ambidextrous comment.

Rickard's Honey Brown is perdy darn good. So's Okanagan Springs Pale Ale...that's my new fave, actually!
And the Schmirnoff Ice is yummy too. Do you guys have that down there? Its kinda like a premixed Vodka and 7up. I love it over a giant pile of ice. (in a glass, of course )

whew, lioneye, for a moment there I had an odd picture in my head of your smiling over a large bucket of ice.

I've never heard of the other beers you mentioned-are they Canadian brews?

Yep, we have smirnoff ice here, but I'm not a big fan of lemon (only on seafood). A lot of my friends enjoy it. I thought of Zima when it first came out (remember Zima??).

Lioneye, I found out my good friend at work is a Leo with Aqua Moon, as well as the friend we took out last week for his birthday. I thought of you.

Hmmm, I didn't read or hear about any carjackings but there was a lot going on that probably pushed those stories off the news.

Dark Bavarian beer is only a type----at least it's what we used to ask for at Shakey's Pizza Parlors when we wanted a dark heavy tap beer with a lot of body. Never found anything bottled to compare with it.

Black olives are good too but nothing goes with beer better than a salty anchovy pizza. Extra sauce please!

Well, at least you know what gingham is By today's standards, that makes you positively domestic Dorothy

Probably a bad direction to take the conversation anyway---since you're already tapped out! Let's just say I'm ambivalent about being ambidextrous.

Bet you made a precious little Dorothy.

Not domestic? Hey, knowing your cloth patterns is about as domestic as it gets in today's culture!

Why ambivalent---jealousy, I know it's wrong but I favor my right hand

Am I depraved? Why did that sound like another good set up to me??
*resisting*

Awww, Oxy, you thought of me? Really? I'm touched. Yeah, those beers are both Canadian domestic beers. Unfortuneately, probably not well known enough to make their way into the U.S.
