If only you could love deeply enough and sustain love long enough, you could become the source of your own miracles, as powerful as the ancient "gods and goddesses." There is no dream you couldn't turn into a reality, no law you can't change, no situation you can't reverse - if only you could love enough.

for Marc Salinger

who will understand my coded message to him
of the power of the magic roses he and I
carried to St. Patrick's through the rain one
April morning in New York ... when he reads
this ... wherever he is

"... words, Bernardo ... words. There was a time when I believed in words ..." Love Signs

"you must not grieve - or fear
for there is a Law at work down here
which always was - and always shall be...
God possesses an eternal integrity
as does Nature Herself
......you need not be lonely
Life has joy and colour
if you would only look to the rainbow!
and not below...to the clay dust at your feet"

Alice's Hexagram

See? Linda even used I-Ching like I do

quote:
In the beginning
I used to puzzle myself
about what was missing from our Wonderland

(certainly not the Red Queen or the Mad Hatter
it was only yesterday that we had tea with them)

quote:
and after I knew what it was
our moments together were smudged with restlessness

but now I sit near you
quietly content
and deeply peaceful
gazing through the looking glass
of a car, a bus, a plane or a train
paying no attention at all to the white Rabbit
and his theatening pocket watch
nor to the second hand

For I Ching says:

quote:
when the clouds grow heavy with moisture
one only has to wait
the rain will surely come
ten pairs of tortoises cannot prevent it
and perseverance furthers

The following quotation is from the painstaking translation of the Septuagint, the earliest known (circa 250 B.C.) version of the Old Testament (our standard Hebrew MSS date only from the Renaissance). The translation was published by the Falcon's Wing Press in 1960, under the editorship of Dr.C.Muses.
From Proverbs 8:3-31 (excerpts):

For at the gates of the Mighty, She hath taken a seat,
and at the entrance thereof chanteth Her song:
"In the beginning, before the Lord made the Earth
When He furnished the Heavens, I was with Him;
and when He set apart His throne on the winds
When He set to the sea its bound,
and the waters passed not the word of His mouth
I was harmonizing with Him.
I was the one in whom He delighted, and I was daily gladdened by His presence on all occasions."

Sometimes it seems that the problems of two people who love each other are hopeless, the wall that separates them too high to ever surmount. But their problems would all dissolve, simply disappear, if they would only touch hands-or hearts-or minds-or even touch noses-and whisper just one word:"magic!" For love is magic, the secret power all who love possess without realizing it. No matter how great the injury, or how bitter the words, love will erase it all, as if it had never been. But not without the desire and effort to do so on the part of the one who has inflicted the pain-not without the quality of forgiveness on the part of the one who's been deeply hurt. Desire, effort and forgiveness, intermingled, are necessary to release love's force and power.

Air Sign Rejected

before you leave

give me your hand again, for just one foolish moment

I'll race you to the Moon!
The cold night wind
will blow the cobwebs from your soul
and I promise we'll be back by noon

ah, but wait...
it's much too late for you to race through space

this you tell me with the sad and empty eyes
of one who knows the Moon's too far away
to reach in just a day
let alone within the hour you can spare

all right, no flight tonight
tomorrow - back to yesterday

"Do you want a round trip ticket, sir?"

"No. I'm just going one way"

The Fish Meets The Water Bearer

For Michel and Etienne
by any other Sun Sign, name or century

We searched for each other
in the most unlikely places
among the most unlikely people

and when our paths finally crossed
it was for reasons so entangled
in our daily bread
and the usual trespasses

that we might not even have noticed
except for that faint quiver of wonder
like a passing chill from the night air

we loved

and the closest we've come to explaining why
is because it was you
and because it was I

"...I've often been told one must strive to eliminate all emotion - to cast out sentimentality
yet, if this be true
then how can one's Soul remain sensitive to beauty?"

"no, this is not true...you are right to so discern
for, just as too much stress on emotion is a negative vibration
so also is the cold removal of all emotion - known as detachment
likewise a negative vibration
a person devoid of all emotion
or one who is successful in hiding emotion
houses a Soul which has ceased to live

a Soul must learn to mingle the inter-play of emotions
accepting some, displaying some - controlling others
but when all emotions have been banished
especially those of compassion, sympathy, love, generosity ... and grief
then the Soul Itself
is dangerously close to the death of its Beingness"

"Jesus wept"

last night you whispered

"darling, I knew why you cried before you told me
in the same way that I tremble inside before you hold me"

"oh, yes, it's true!" I whispered back
"I tremble inside before you hold me too
and I always know you will ... just before you do
it's like being one beat ahead of the pulse of the Universe
now that we've learnt that a Little Prince can love one rose --- and mountains can truly fly!"

"... and that druids are real people who can laugh and cry
and we have a whole shining lifetime together
to teach each other why
the miracle of Us ... is not easily defined
because, all we really know..."

"...is that it was planned many eons ago..."

"yes...before you were born, I was yours
and before I was born ... you were mine"

...and tonight I'm remembering

those bubbly moments of bittersweet
when a tapped-out stranger stops us on the street
to ask you for a dime or a quarter
a fellow Earthling, who's lost his or her way for a while

you always smile, then give the lost one five dollars or ten...or twenty
even when you're broke yourself
and it's your very last five...or ten...or twenty

then, when the Taker looks shocked, as they always do
you call back, over your shoulder

"Listen, if you want any more
just give half of that away
don't save it for a rainy day!
rain rhymes with pain
...give rhymes with live!"
