Greetings...

Welcome Uriel.

Nag Hammadi Scrolls... yes, well... when the time permits it's on my list.

In the meantime, I'd be happy to have you tell us what you know of Thoth and the "turquoise stele".

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In the Light...

It always seemed to me that the substance referred to in the Emerald Tablet was Thought. I concur with uriel that the Nag Hammadi Documents are very illuminating. I liked the Pistis Sophia as well.

of course i would hesitate to make any interpretation of the writings of Hermes Trismegistus.i prefer to read such works as the Divine Pymander then meditate on the themes contained within. one of the most ancient references to the Emerald Tablet however, concern the Egyptian Book of the Dead, specifically Chapter LXIV "the book of coming forth by day" which was said to be graven on an "ironstone stele, with letters inlaid with lapis lazuli" found in Hermopolis (Thoth's nome)at the feet of a statue of the ibis headed god of wisdom. this section, being perhaps the oldest chapter, leads to the hypothesis that Thoth was the author of the entire book of the dead, which, being copied from the emerald tablets must contain much of his wisdom.

Yes Fishkitten iv'e always considered there to be a general etymological connection between the word "thought" and the Egyptian god "Thoth", whose primary attribute is rational abstract thought. (he was said to have brought mathematics, astronomy, and writing to mankind)

Greetings...

I was revisiting "The Emerald Tablet of Hermes" the other evening, and this is where my thoughts began to spiral:

The entire document contains 13 statements, in 2 paragraphs, the first paragraph contains 5 statements, the second, 8.

8/5 = 1.6 and this is an approximation of Phi or the Golden Ratio. (1.618034)

5 is the number of adaptation, the pentagram and man.

5 is related to Mercury in Numerology. Mercury is another name for Hermes! 5 is also related to the Pentagram, which is a perfect depiction of the Phi ratio in action.

The 5th sign in the zodiac is Leo, ruled by The Sun. Note the reference in the last line to "alchemical art.. the Solar Work". Hrmm.

In Qabalah the fifth Sphere on the Tree of Life is called Geburah (Severity); it is also called Din (Justice). This Sphere is associated with the planet Mars, and Mars traditionally rules the sign Scorpio in ancient astrology.

The second paragraph contains 8 sentences. 8 is the number of rhythm, strength and mastery.

The eighth Sphere on the Tree of Life is Hod (Splendor) and this Sphere is associated with the planet Mercury.

Now in numerology, 8 is attributed to the planet Saturn. Saturn is associated with the metal lead. Alchemy is the process whereby base metals (lead) are transmuted into Gold... allegorically this is the transformation or perfection, if you will, of the Soul.

The 8th sign in the zodiac is Scorpio, and the 8th house rules death, sex and practical occultism. Two keywords often associated with Scorpio are tranformation and regeneration or what might be termed Spiritual Alchemy!

13, the total number of statements in the document is the number of Tarot Higher Arcana 13 or Death. This card is related to the astrological sign Scorpio. (see above)

13/8 = 1.6 again, the approximation of Phi which is evidenced in all of nature.

Just a little food for thought...

Happy Spiraling...

A

P.S. For any heavily Virgoan knowflakes out there checking up on on me... The translation of the Emerald Tablet that I was using contained 13 statements. The translation I posted at the beginning of this thread contains only 12; but this version combined 2 separate thoughts into one sentence. So my use of the 13 stands.

P.P.S. This method of spiraling is pretty Qabalistic, but I think it bears some merit.

Hi Aselzion. I was just wondering if you got the e-mail I sent you a week or two ago. I have had some trouble lately with my messages going astray somewhere in cyberspace.

Hi FishKitten...

Yes, I actually did get your e-mail, do not fear.

My time has been pretty compromised lately by work and my studies, which have been demanding much of my attention these days.

I plan to compose a more personal reply to both your letter to Linda and your e-mail, but Life seems to be happening at a fairly quick pace these days...

Thanks for your patience, I am sure we have much to discuss...

In L.V.X. eternal...

I've been having e-mail messages get lost in cyberspace also. What's up with that?

No worries, Aselzion. I'm in no rush. I just wanted to make sure the e-mail went through.

Randall...I have no idea what is going on that e-mails keep getting eaten. I was unable to send anything to Ra for a long time. If the e-mails made it through at all, they were blank. It happened with a few other people as well. It is interesting that the same kinds of things are happening to you. At least that tells me that the problems are probably not related to something I'm doing. Of course, I still consider the telephone a miracle device, so it is always possible that I have gone technologically astray somewhere.

My business requires e-mails, and sometimes they just don't arrive (without me being notified that they are undeliverable). With most mail servers, as much as 5 percent of all e-mails are lost.

Maybe CyberHeaven or the Center of the CyberUniverse. No wait...they are probably reincarnated as those pop up ads that keep trying so hard to get your attention. They want you to know they are still out there somewhere.

Thanks Montana...

I love Qabalah and Alchemy, and these writings are great food for metaphysical chatter and conjecture.

I do have Manly Hall's book, that is where I got the translation of the Emerald Tablet that I included at the beginning of this thread.

That book (The Secret Teachings of All Ages)is a wonderful resource for any serious students in metaphysics!

Greetings...

Montana... slow? In relation to what? We absorb and are presented what we need to know, when we need to know it.

To say slow is to almost imply a competition of sorts, and I don't think that's really the point.

I have often come across books at one time that I knew I needed to have, but was not really "ready for" at the time. Then, a week, or a month or a year or a decade (or more) goes by, and something in that book calls out to the Soul.

As the ancients taught... when the student is ready the teacher appears. Or conversely, when the teacher (or teaching) appears, the student is ready.

Hold on and enjoy the ride...

Blessings...

wow! I just fond this today...
was running my myrid of searches
through varies halls of www
and found thoth here
i just wanted to understand my tarot deck

finding the emerald tablets
i have been doing related research
ALL DAY LONG

any how my first suggestion:
maybe the secret shouldn't be exposed here
secrets and code are often left--
as was some hints from Linda--
to the dicovery of the student

second suggestion:
find the key open the door
I would quote but I lost the sphinx

third suggestion:
that the water is part of the solution to the problems of this age,
and our guardians will come foreward,
as they were in the days of atlantis,
when invited to the fore,
and reveal certain secrets,
when we as a whole are ready...
personally i think it will take a catalyst

fourth suggestion:
alchemy is near the truth
but I would say it pertained mostly to the soul level

I see(k) much symbology,
I feel a personal connection to thoth somehow
simular vibrations maybe
Mainly due to my knack for research
and my desire to communicate with my peers for i am a seeker
the question is who are the true seekers?
and what is my resposibility to disgression of the secret

my guess is that a true seeker points his peers in the right direction but does not reveal all of the journey
may be that is what thoth is doing
cause he could have spelled in out i bet

oh i found the quote:

quote:
Deep 'neath the rocks, I buried my spaceship, waiting the time when man might be free. Over the spaceship, erected a marker in the form of a lion yet like unto man. There 'neath the image rests yet my spaceship, forth to be brought when need shall arise.

need is the key i bet

somewhere it meantiions a key that will bring down a wall. What keeps me drawn to it is that it connects a lot of dots in my research and seems to hint a fulfilling of prophecies for this age. I think it has a lot to do with the Masters return to public view, "when man might be free."

oh yeah, btw I am still reading it for the first time.

Aselzion...

The Qabalah, I have not studied much--if any, but I have been studing numerology as presented by Linda.

I am finding that I am liking the oldest documents, like this emerald tablet. It seems to help me uncover truth in some "newly" presented revelation. Usually revelation leans on the students understanding of ancient wisdom.

Share International claims to be backed by Masters even a master who is not forth coming of his name, as well as a Master who claim to hold the position of Christ in the Heirarchy related to Earth. Many of Benjamin Creme's books I have studied, bought a hundren dollars worth used from amazon. All that was listed on the site. Now I see there is a new one. I am discussing this issue else where

Most of all I feel I have to do my homework on anyone or any teaching that claims secrets of the divine. Must be that vibe of mine.
