TRUST your cards ! Theres no real better advice, I bought a deck a few years ago, took the time to bond with them and I can guarantee they give me an accurate reading everytime Theres no special skill needed, you just need to trust that they will give you the best advice you need. As long as you bond with them through touch and sight, they will know your energies and love you back. I couldn't do without mine, in all this time I've only done about 5 readings, when I've really needed guidance, and they have helped me everytime.
It's almost like trusting the universe to give the answer you need. The interpretation might be broad but you then take it to mean whats personal to you, which is why I won't read cards for anyone else. I can't trust my cards to know anyone but me. That help ?

Yes it does thankyou. Ever since I bought them I felt I should treat them with the respect they deserve, and trusting them should be just as important. Of course! Thanks again,

"Tarot for Your Self" by Mary K Greer.

Great book, works with any deck, for she explains symbology very well. Lots of different kinds of readings, play exercises you can try.

But yes, to second the excellent advice tahariel already gave.....get a deck that speaks to you. I tried about 5 decks before I found the one that was "for me" and actually, it was given to me!

I like Tarot Made Easy. No vague interpretations.

Greetings...

I think books are a great place to start... they help you to get a general idea of the cards and possible interpretations.

After a time, you start to "remember" the meanings and get comfortable leaving the book to one side. Some time thereafter, after many readings under your belt, the cards almost begin to "talk" to you.. to tell you what they mean as you lay them out.

This is the beginning of intuition, and the start of a wonderful journey. Take it seriously, but remember nothing is carved in stone... have fun with it, but remember that the point of divination is to bring us closer to the Truth about ourSelves.

Don't turn the cards over for every frivolous flight of fancy, and approach them with respect... they will guide you well, but remember they are but a tool, the power always lies in You.

Blessings in the Light...
A

I was just wandering around this forum and found my original post here.
I never actually persued this- probably wasn't the right time, instead I had been focusing on Astrology- Gosh isn't there so much to learn?
It's wonderful.
Thanks for replying Aselzion, I just found it now.
I suppose I needed to open myself up to intuition, and in the past 12 months I have grown tremendously.
Even since last week.

I just wish I could have a personal teacher- but if I have to learn through books then so be it.
I did a reading for myself, it was three card spread for mind, body, and spirit.
But I couldn't interpret it very well, I read it from a book and couldn't relate it to the questions.
I felt uneasy, and frustrated.
So I put them away, and felt this maybe isn't for me.
Tarot is not for everyone right?

Maybe it's not my calling, I know it's not in my heart right now.
But the desire to learn is strong. I think it's a matter of timing.

Anyway, I've only done one reading for myself, and I hope someone can help to shed some light on these cards I drew.

I drew three cards for: Mind, Body and Spirit. (ie. the state of self)

1. The Sun

2. 9 Pentacles

3. Knight of Swords

It would be so dearly appreciated if someone could help me understand this.

Lots of Love

When I first bought my cards, I wrapped them in a blue silk scarf and slept with them under my pillow for two weeks - I read that tip in a book (cant remember the name of it). It seemed to "season" the cards somehow, and the dreams I had were very vivid. After that I just used to play with them and see what fell out or what I was drawn to. I tried meditating on the High Priestess a few times and I found I was able to get into the card and talk with her, very interesting. Like others have said its to do with intuition, but I started off with a basic book and always tried to go with my first impression of the cards - good luck and enjoy Sue x
