Please help my friend and I! We have entered a competition at Gather.com for first time authors, and submitted our manuscript. The first prize is a publishing contract and a $5,000.00 advance against the royalties!

The book was based on a question my friend asked me idly one night in front of the boob tube: "What would happen if an Astrologer and his friend the psychic became embroiled in a murder investigation?"

... And Murder Rising is the answer we came up with. It is completely fictional, but it involves real hard core Astrology and accounts of psychic perceptions, relative to a fictional series of murders that have been discovered throughout the state of Massachusetts... the astrologer of the duo really gets pulled in when one of his prized students is killed by the psychopath responsible for the serial killings.

Please read the chapter (they put up the FIRST chapter only) for however many manuscripts were presented. The winners will be chosen by popular vote, as well as the judgment of a 'panel of experts'. The first chapter can be found at this location:

If we get enough votes in this round, they post the second chapter. Then there will be another round of voting. Finally the 3rd chapter will be posted and the winner selected in May, 2007.

All you have to do to vote is sign up for FREE with Gather.com, which you are prompted to do when you go to vote. You rate the chapter on a scale of 1-10 stars.

Any and all votes and comments would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks for voting. But they have a system set up for detecting "false" votes or people logging in as different users from the same computer. They run this program periodically to try to eliminate people from "stacking the cards" in their favor, as it were.

If you click on the link above and scroll down to the very bottom of the chapter, you should see a series of "greyed out" stars. This is where you "Rate the Article".

Just click on the number of stars (10 of course, I think that's one of your favorite numbers) and it will prompt you to either register or log in.

Thanks for the vote and the comment Mighty A, I'm really moved by everyone's support.

I am well, but coming into a certain amount of conflict with some things at work that I am unsure how to handle at present. For the most part, I actually like my job, but on another level Know that it is NOT my Labor of Love.

Other than that, all is well, for the most part I am happy, and as always, learning and studying when the time permits.

I's nice seeing you here again.

This has been a rather hectic week for me between having a State Inspection at the clinic that I work in, coming down with a nasty cold/bronchitis which is only now clearing up, and being unable to sleep for any more than 10 - 30 minute stretches and that sitting bolt upright.

Yes, our intention is to finish editing the manuscript and then pursue publishing.

I apprecaite all the good thoughts and Magic of the Light.. and will hopefully manifest the book into Reality!

Hope you're feeling better by now. Is there a Chapter 2 coming soon? (Funny, just when I thought to type that second sentence, a flash of white sparkly stars whirled in my mind's eye around a brown door slightly ajar . . . wonder what that means? )

I read that you're thinking of moving to the mountains? Would it be a little like how Linda lived in the mountains in Colorado? Sounds like it would be a wonderful new chapter for you.

No, no chapter 2 unfortunately, despite the good reviews from you nice folks here, we were not part of the 20 mnauscripts that moved on to round 2. BUT, we are still planning to work the book into shape and get it out to publishers in the (hopefully, near) future. So keep on Imaging the book through the slush piles and into the hands of the right editor/publisher so that it can wing its way onto the shelves.

P.S. Mighty, the move to the mountains that I am contemplating will take me to the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas. But we shall see how things unfold.. I place my Faith in the Rightness of Things!
