I'd say she's invested in him in the capacity resulting in her experiencing some trying emotions, situation where control is needed but hard to summon.
As if the women in his life are matter of concern for her. Maybe she likes him very much, but the situation is crowded and she needs to subdue her passion, perhaps.

In that case I'd go with you being the one with tentacles Got some earth? Because of the strong, devoted nature of King/Queen of Pentacles, I'd allow for some Scorpio influence; it seems you have that, as well.
