My desire is for them to grow and chose their own spiritual path when they are ready. I have a small altar in my bedroom, and my daugther once asked me what the candles were for. I explained that the light of the candles guides me to feel closer to divinity. Ever since, she's respected my space and never tries to remove anything from it. She calls it my table of Saints, and it doesn't even faze her nor her brother. The just see it as Mom being Mom. The Tarot cards I will not allow near them. Once, she asked to play with them and I responded by buyign her a pack of playing cards instead. I only read for my family and when I do readings, I make certain the children aren't around. I do this because I believe there's a building up and energy release with the Tarot, which I don't want to effect the children. I also cleasne the room before and after ever reading with incense, to make sure no stray energy remains. IP: Logged

The reason i ask is our little boy is having some toning work (singing and colour therapy) and the healer said the same as you did.....that the imagery is too strong at times....I am just curious as to others' views. Devilfish Knowflake Posts: 353 From: Registered: Dec 2004	posted October 03, 2005 02:55 PM this thread ,to me, is so bizzarre what do you think tarot energy is (anyone/everyone/whoever)...........???????? to me tarot is a learning tool for the self it retrieves deeper knowledge we have within ourselves by triggering total thought thru symbology. why so much fear surrounding this? what are you scared of? what can happen ? your beliefs seem so fear based............. fear is the begining of wisdom but then perfect love casteth away fear fear is a reaction to the unknown truth is the light that reveals what is hidden occult means hidden knowledge tarot is a tool one may use in self discovery(truth , light) when i explore tarot with my children it is knowledge of self we learn.for example,we take one card and study what the imagery means, evokes ,within us.we then discuss the negative & positive aspects of these feelings/insights.to us it is about an innerward journey not a portal to seperate entities all spirual journeys begin within i teach them lessons as appropriate for age and understanding , there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed so it is my job to guide "children should be children" this is true , children are children because of their innocence, imaginations, & trust in natural intutions, love ect.............. we lose this along the way of growing and then struggle to return to being"as little children" truth lights the darkness ,it shields ,the young and old alike, from pits and snares. i tell my children the only one you should fear is yourself, because no one can make your choices in life for you, so always remember to honor yourself by those choices you make. to successfully do this one must know themselves first in order to choose that which brings them peace and joy ultimately. keeping that in mind , tarot is one of many tools revealing dualities in each card / as is in each person,making the cause and effect relationship of choices more clear. if it is not a tool you feel comfortable using with your child thats okay, choose somthing else, but understand there are families that use it with wonderful results. As for me.....no I dont fear them.....used them for a long time.....saw strong stuff in their like deaths, house fires, people being stabbed in the back, illness , treachery.....as well as beutiful stuff, like true love, frinedship, sex etc, but I am 46, and adult and this is the difference. Our boyeen is encouraged to pray and do healing.....if he wants to do tarot when he is older that is fine, but as a parent I choose to not expose him to what COULD be seen as distrurbing images. Thats all.......I deem it to be responsible parenting.....and that is what I choose........whether I am right or wrong is open to debate....? IP: Logged

"well i dont want to disappear?" disappear?, is that what you think happens when we die?" then you can share your beliefs on death and maybe even explain different beliefs in other cultures on death, and when the time comes (like my sons dog dieing ) you and your child will be better prepared to face it the grim reaper as a scary image or wise image is a matter of perception, and WE teach them all of our perceptions unaware or not. is the glass half empty or full?
