The best argument I have heard against having children, is, if you don't have them, you never have to be a grown-up. Lots of people are incurably grown-up, and they need those kiddies to stop the rest of us having naughty fun on the Web. In common with a lot of newcomers to Lindaland I was rather surprised to see that so many "responsible parents" apparently regard Linda Goodman's works as children's books. Personally, I think children should not be exposed to powerful stuff like Tarot and magickal practises

I totally agree with you Mak...I would not expose our 6 year old son to tarot cards in particular....I wouldnt even do a reading at home, if I can help it......

This was something that has been given to me thro others too...healers....the imagery on tarot can be too strong for children.....I hide my cards...what if he was to look thro them and see 3 swords, death, 10 swords etc.......that can be very scary for a child........

I think you have a very valid point. Ive also thought, since being a mum myself, that lots of parents are caught up in their own "stuff" the children at times dont always get the consideration they need - sad, but true.....

A healer friend of mine said to me not long ago that she believes, at times, we should be careful where we are channeling the answers from with the tarot......it could be coming from a dark place. I thought she was crazy at the time, but I am now pondering on this......mmmm........seems to be making sense to me.....

That being said, it is Randall's site - he's the one who put the controls in so that youth could browse without what I'd imagine regarded as inappropriate language.
I obviously can't speak for Randall, but it seems that he wanted this to be accessible to a wide range of people and without content that may, for the simple fact of its crudeness, turn people off or away.
(Content's more than welcome to turn away people because of its religous/esoteric bent, though )

Yes...I kept my channelings and all away from my son when he was little. However parents that I had went to school with told their kids I was a witch! Never was! Still am not! But my son was beaten by the children of these so called good people because of what those parents told their kids! Such hatred! Such fear!
So I had no choice but to reveal some things to him. But usually it was because he was psychic too, as young as 2 years old. And I had to tell him it was not his imagination. But that most people would be afraid so he must keep quiet about it.
Not until he was 20 did we actually begin to talk in depth about it all. But he usually just says to me...Mom...You and My stepdad are the real Scully and Mulder....I don't want to know! My life is weird enough!!!!!!
Yes...he is still psychic too. But in his own way...and at his own pace.
Yes..we must guide our children...but not overwhelm them.
Let them be kids!
PS.that goes for teaching them any kind of religion or mystical/metaphysical/psychic things. Teach them right from wrong...and let them find their own path...give them lots of quality time and love. And always answer their questions! If they can formulate and ask the question(s) they deserve an answer!

i have four children& my husband and i do speak of these things with them.with every age comes new levels of awareness and we guide them slowly.
we have done a very small amount of tarot with them but i do feel it is advanced so, again,we proceed slowly. as for astrology , i homeschooled my kids (still have two at home i school & two in junior high now)and i included astrology as part of the schooling.
to know& love others one must know & love themselves first! astrology helps indentify the range of energies that make us who we are. they are free to choose whatever they want to believe in but i try to show them that there are many valid paths.we do yoga, mediatate, visualize, pray and study a variety of sources.we also use alotta star wars references(jedi and sith characters) they really like that one.different people are pulled to different methods so i watch for natural talent/understanding.
the important thing is to teach them that they HAVE the power to change their lives, they MUST realize they are responsible for this journey called living.
i do NOT think any of this is "satanic" and i think fear is the first thing one must learn to overcome.
besides , i want to be open and true about who i am with my kids because this teaches them to be open and comfortable with who they are. refusing to do this is such a huge obstacle for people today and they suffer for it thru repression , denial, sorrow and anger.all of these paths contain seeds of truth.we share these seeds so they can find their truth, their path and ultimately themselves.

It is strange cos I love mystical stuff now...but I just know tarot would have completely freaked me out as a child......no I dont think its for the senstiive child......I can remember my parents had a picture of Jesus somewhere in the house and that scared the life out of me....and I can remember seeing other images which werent half as graphic as the taort........

No I dont think it is wise to show children this stuff......they have all the time in the world to choose when they are mature enough....dont they?

We must endeavor to honest with our kids...but they grow up too fast! We can still balance honesty and helping them be children and enjoy their innocence of childhood.
I can't believe my "baby" is almost 25!
It goes so terribly fast!
Kids need to be kids!
No time for play and imagination and forcing crap or even too much into them for their own good...makes for some very screwed up adults!
