It's funny, I was talking to some others about Bristol in England, and it appears that I am far from the only person who feels there is something negative about the atmosphere of the place......IP: Logged |

Hello everyone, written below are just my thoughts, and i hope it does not offend anyone as it is my perception, and not intended to offend anyone. To be honest, i tried being grateful and happy all the time, and for the first 6 months it was good, and then i got bored of that too. i honestly felt that being happy constantly was also not cutting it for me. My experiences were all very drab. I enjoy the different varieties of emotions and find it hard to be loyal to one. what i personally practice, is meditation for an hour where i try to be thoughtless, and that is an amazing experience. and the rest of the time, i allow myself to feel all emotions as each one only adds to me.. no matter what the emotion, i don't believe that happiness is the be all and end all.. all these concepts of happiness, depression etc are all the same to me as there is no good or bad, its what each one chooses to experience in this lifetime. The closest to oneness is nothingness, neither happy nor sad, as duality is earthbound and in the end none of this matters, as everything is one.. love & Light Gaya IP: Logged |

A very warm welcome, Gaya!I like what you wrote, and I too feel that everything is, in reality, One. However.... quote: and in the end none of this matters, as everything is one..
I have been turning over this thought in my mind for many years....whether any of what we have to experience in this world is worth it or not. Therefor, recent developments have started me thinking that this teaching is only partially correct. There has got to be a reason that we are here. It all has to be related to some much, much bigger picture in the plan of creation. The bigger picture which has been stolen from us, long ago, by those who wish to manipulate. If all the suffering which occurs in this realm of existence is all for nothing.....what can possibly be more horrifying, more cruel, more ironic? At least....that's the way I see it anyway. Love & Light. ------------------ It would be nice to evolve some sort of telepathy of the heart; empathy. A feeling, knowing inside how we are all interconnected. Empathy/ love would be a a law in itself. IP: Logged |

I love this thread. I've read through the whole thing and want so badly to comment appropriately but can't atm. I will say that, for me, being grateful doesn't mean I have to force myself to be happy all the time. But I can find lessons in the pain, in the sufferings, in the negative emotions that are part of human life ... and be grateful for the lessons in spite of those things. Perhaps because of them. Happiness just comes. I remember reading a cancer patient talking about her pain once. She said the pain came in waves. She could ride the crest of it, give herself to it, and return to her place of just "being". Eventually, she found all emotions were like that ... but that Peace was her true inner state of Being. Once she let go of her association with the false modern ideas of what "happy" or "miserable" should be she could just BE that Peace and still ride the emotions as they came. Heaven bless whoever she is as I no longer remember her "name" but her words will always be with me. IP: Logged |

quote: With my recent interest in Japanese bento boxes (lunch boxes). I learned there are 5 principles, called washoku, used for choosing what foods to pack into a daily lunch box. Washoku are 5 Zen Buddhist principles that describe almost exactly what Eleanore has said she does - especially the fourth and fifth principles called gokan and gokan no mon in Japan.
Hey, artlovesdawn. I've been meaning to ask you about Washoku. Any information you can recommend? I remember seeing your bento thread and wanting to reply but lost it, as usual. You have piqued my interest, though. I don't want to hi-jack this thread but am still interested in your thoughts when you have a chance. IP: Logged |

I haven't read this before. Some very good thoughts here. These are the kinds of threads I like reading at LL. Just sharing our feelings about "real life" spirituality and how we apply it in our lives. Sharing our spiritual experiences not based on any religion or anything other than our own experiences. That is true and real and tangible spirituality. It comes from the soul and it doesn't matter where we learned these things. Nothing we learn or read means anything unless we can apply it to our lives and our life experiences. It's only meaningful if it is meaningful to us and we can apply it to life. I like what you said, Eleanore. You too Lialei. Liked what everyone said!! IP: Logged |

Spiritual Wholenessby Jennifer Hoffman July 2007 article This article is part of a series from the Archangel Uriel's book 'Shifting Our Consciousness--the Process of Healing Humanity' that will be available soon. UrielHeals article July 2007 Spiritual Wholeness What does a spiritual person look like? Are they tall, short, thin, fat? How do they act? Are they happy, sad, pleasant or angry? How do we know if we or anyone is spiritual or not? Are there signs that we can see or special things we can look for? And what is the difference between being spiritual and not spiritual? Is there such a thing? We believe there is but there really is not. When we try to categorize spirituality by placing limitations or judgments on it we go against the nature of spirituality itself. We can spend our entire lifetime trying to be spiritually whole, thinking that the more ‘spiritual’ we become the closer we move to that goal. But spiritual wholeness is not about being completely spiritual, it is about learning to integrate spirituality into our lives, creating a perfect balance between the spiritual and material worlds. I have known people who were so spiritual that they were unable to communicate with people who were not in that space. They could only interact with other spiritual people and felt that people had to achieve a certain level of spirituality before they could teach them. And they structured their work in such a way that the only people who took their classes or went to them for help were those who already understood the concepts. All of this has changed. The Shift has introduced a new way to view spirituality. It is no longer something we have to work hard at or try to do or be, it is part of everyone because everyone is, at the core of their being, spiritual. They have to be since we are all connected to the same Source. If this is true, how can we not be spiritual? Even people who do not act or look spiritual, according to our definitions of what that should be like, are spiritual. Instead of working towards being spiritual the Shift is about integrating our spirituality into our lives, accepting ourselves as spiritual and using that knowledge as a foundation to make choices and decisions. We are no longer humans trying to reach the spiritual world; we are spiritual beings here to teach and learn spirituality. As spiritual beings in human form we are perfect at every point in our life. There is no need for us to try to be ‘better’ than we were in the past or create a ‘better’ future. Whatever we do at any point in our life represents the very best that we can do at that moment and is the best and most perfect use of our spiritual knowledge and understanding. Everything we do, think and say contains our spiritual imprint. There is no way then for us to be more or less spiritual, we always express the level of spirituality that we are capable of at any point in time. Spiritual wholeness is the process of incorporating our spirituality into our humanity. When we focus on spiritual wholeness we start with acknowledging our power and divinity. Remembering that we are powerful is how we begin to create a life that reflects heaven on earth, which integrates the material and spiritual worlds. Then our life choices become a reflection of our power instead of our powerlessness. When we acknowledge that we are powerful we cannot be afraid for we know that there is nothing to fear. This frees us from making choices that reflect our limitations instead of those that mirror the limitless possibilities that are available to us. We become spiritually whole through our acceptance of the importance of our role as both student and teacher on the earth plane. For we are here to learn and to teach and in so doing we heal and move past the judgments that have allowed us to view ourselves and others as less than perfect or spirituality as a difficult goal or selective reward. We connect to and learn to work with the Universe. It is and has always been our choice to bring this energy to the planet. The Universe will work with us once we are willing. This creates the possibility for unconditional love, joy and peace to be the ruling energies. And when we stand in our own power we focus less on what others are doing, judgment and criticism are released. Then we will no longer view others and more or less spiritual because we can accept them as they are and realize that they too are on their own spiritual journey. We will know that we have succeeded in becoming spiritually whole when our lives are filled with miracles, when everything we want flows effortlessly to us, when our work expresses our gifts and passion and when we see each day as a new beginning, filled with limitless opportunities. When we do this, we bring heaven on earth and create the possibility for everyone to experience spiritual wholeness.
