Sorry about that. I fixed the links. The third link is to a questionaire to determine whether you have adrenal burnout or not. Hope it helps. I'm suffering from adrenal burnout myself and am going to be tested soon to see if I have Cushing's Syndrome. Your posts mirror pretty much how I've been feeling for a very long time. I will say, the book I recommended ("Destiny of Souls" by Michael Newton, PhD) helped a lot. I still have a long road to travel on to feel whole again but it did help.

This is my personal pet theory on the meaning of life:

When I brush my teeth, I brush my teeth
When I eat, I eat
When I type, I type
When I watch TV, I watch TV
When I read a book, I read a book
When I have sex, I have sex
When I sleep, I sleep

I quoted Lion king because when I watch I am in to the movie really.

Life is a bowl of cherries. Or is it a box of chocolates? Or both? Or neither?

Life is life. The meaning of life is what you make it mean. What is meaningful to some is not meaningful to others. Such is life.

It's for each of us individually to discover the meaning of life for ourselves and within ourselves.

As for me I am just grateful for the gift of life.

Maybe you are focusing too much on what you think you are lacking.

What good things do you have going on in your life?

"Maybe the most toxic people...the most unbalanced, disharmonious people are the people who:

a) give in to their temptation often
b) have completely given in to it and are completely in torment and enslavement to it.

Maybe most people/ the average person (for want of a better word) is someone who manages to regulate his slip into temptation...but is unable to completely overcome it."

What if you stopped focusing on "them" and "their problems"?

"Infinite Love is the only truth- everything else is illusion"- David Icke.

When this is truly understood, you will cease to be able to be melancholic.

"After every happiness comes misery; they may be far apart or near. The more advanced the soul, the more quickly does one follow the other. What we want is neither happiness nor misery. Both make us forget our true nature; both are chains--one iron, one gold; behind both is the Atman, who knows neither happiness nor misery. These are states, and states must ever change; but the nature of the Atman is bliss, peace, unchanging. We have not to get it, we have it; only wash away the dross and see it."

"This world will always have turmoil and trouble. What are you worried about? Go to the shelter of God, where the Masters have gone, and whence they are watching and helping the world. You shall have safety forever, not only for yourself, but for all those loved ones who have been entrusted to your care by our Lord and Father."

"Infinite Love is the only truth- everything else is illusion"- David Icke.

"Negative" and "positive" are just illusions; when pain is caused by opposition it is because of the illusion of separation. - LTT

It's all in the eye of the beholder; the doors of perception. -LTT

Finite words can be interpreted in so many ways. -LTT

We must read between the lines to understand their true meaning. -LTT

(((hugs))) girl.

I know it's hard.

Try to remember more often of what is "real".
I know you Know.
It takes practice, discipline.

Hang in there.

Thanks 26T. I've bookmarked the link.

So I guess, the way to go about being an activist if I go back to taking part in activism....would be to spread awareness without being forceful, and not to let the realities of this world haunt me?

Youre welcome!

...."realities"..."this world" ....

I like this quote:

This is only truth for people with control of their own destiny, what about the rest that do not have control, like the pics that LTT put in here of the tortured animals and so many hungry children in less than acceptable enviroments in the world?

I know there's a million different renditions of this story, but it remains one of my faves.

quote:
The Starfish

While walking along a beach, a man saw in the distance what looked like a boy dancing.
He was encouraged by the outward expression of someone dancing to the new day on the beach, and he approached the young man. As he got closer, he realized that the young man was actually running, leaning down, picking something up and then gently throwing it far into the ocean.

As he came closer, he saw thousands of starfish the tide had thrown onto the beach. Unable to return to the ocean during low tide, the starfish were dying. He observed the young man picking up the starfish one by one and throwing them back.

After watching the seemingly futile effort, the observer said to the young man, "There must be thousands of starfish on this beach. It would be impossible for you to get to all of them. There are simply too many. You can't possibly save enough to make a difference."

The young man smiled as he continued to pick up another starfish and toss it back into the ocean.

"It made a difference to that one," he replied.

The older man shook his head at the impossible optimism of the young man, and then turned away and walked home. That night, he sat for a long time thinking of the young man, and determined that the young man was really affecting the world and taking action to make a difference. Something that the older man would like to do. That night he slept fitfully. In the morning, he awoke, went down to the beach and found the young man again. Then together, they went along the beach shore tossing starfish back into the ocean.

One of my life's philosophies is to be as kind and friendly to everyone I meet as I can. It's usually very small acts - but I go out of my way to smile, hold doors, say hello - very simple little things like that. My husband, when we first were married, accused me of "being too nice to everyone." However, in the last few years, I've noticed a definite increase on him being friendlier to everyone, too. Perhaps that's a bigger impact of a simple thing.

You can't expect to change the world overnight and by yourself. However, even the smallest positive acts will have a positive reaction in one way or another.

And just because I couldn't resist...

quote:

Always Look on the Bright Side of Life

Some things in life are bad,
They can really make you mad,
Other things just make you swear and curse,
When you're chewing life's gristle,
Don't grumble,
Give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistle]
Always look on the light side of life.
[whistle]

If life seems jolly rotten,
There's something you've forgotten,
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps,
Don't be silly chumps.
Just purse your lips and whistle.
That's the thing.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistle]
Always look on the right side of life,
[whistle]

For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word.
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin.
Give the audience a grin.
Enjoy it. It's your last chance, anyhow.
So...

Always look on the bright side of death,
[whistle]
Just before you draw your terminal breath.
[whistle]

Life's a piece of ****,
When you look at it.
Life's a laugh and death's a joke it's true.
You'll see it's all a show.
Keep 'em laughing as you go.
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.

Nam,

They might not have control over what is happening. People do however have a choice as to how they react. Some of the most remarkable books I have ever read are by Dave Pelzer, author of "A Child Called It". He made it for himself in the end, against all odds. And he never reacted towards his abuser (his mother) with hatred or had any desire whatsoever to abuse all others. And the abuse he suffered was deeply, deeply disturbing. But he made it. He survived it, against all odds, and eventually he found love, especially the love of his own son.

"Love has the power to overcome all odds".

Wow, Tigerlilly I've just been reading this newsletter about this guy who runs an acupuncture clinic. More information regarding the adrenals and depression!
http://www.theshenclinic.com/

quote:
It is fascinating from this perspective to see how it all connects and how what seems to be the cause or seat of a health problem is anything, but. For example, he explained to me the destructive cycle triggered by consuming refined sugar.

First of all, he says, a single lump of refined sugar would kill you if the body did not instigate a survival response to cope with it. The sugar is acidic to a potentially lethal degree and the body protects itself by releasing massive amounts of calcium into the system from the bones and teeth.

Obviously, there comes a point where so much calcium has been used for the body to survive that the bones and teeth begin to show the consequences and one of these is osteoporosis when the bones lose strength and density and are far more prone to fracture. But how many doctors will tell you that consuming lots of sugar could lead to osteoporosis? Probably none, because they are not informed and open-minded enough to connect the dots.

Mike was telling me of another sugar connection: the consumption of sugar affects the pineal gland in the brain and with that the production of the neuro-transmitter called serotonin. When this is depleted it triggers depression. People in this state are often attracted to sugar products like chocolate, Coke and Red Bull to lift their mood and energy levels - comfort eating and drinking - and the cycle is repeated even more destructively.

I really do want to cut sugar out now!

It was also on about how illness orginally starts off because of emotion; the way we think and feel, which was what I said before.

quote:
So much frustration is simply a result of trying to think our way through problems instead of feeling our way to what we desire. How we feel determines our vibration, so until we change the way we feel, our minds will keep going in circles, digging up the same old grievances, glitches and gripes. If we shift our hearts open, however, light pours in, and then we can see our circumstances from a higher perspective.
