I think those at the top of the pyramid
would love for many to just "walk away" quietly;
provided they keep dutifully paying taxes.

But the notion that everyone at the bottom can walk away is naive.
For one thing, those at the real bottom are pinned down by poverty,
and if we "save ourselves", it leaves all the weight on their shoulders.
Then, the weakest and most ignorant bear all the burden, or are crushed.

Its as if the Titanic were approaching an iceberg,
and all the wealthy people on the upper decks can see it coming,
but, instead of warning the other passengers, they jump ship;
quietly, they take all the lifeboats and sit pretty, with room to spare.

we, as the collective consciousness...have the power to make or destroy this world....no one is left straggling in poverty, i don't see how that can be if the collective we is whole...hopefully the enlightened ones will help to illuminate the path. always live with hope

always live with hope

Do you mean the hope of the P.O.W.'s who attempt to escape from prison,
or the hope of the P.O.W.'s who bet on being released any day now;
do you mean the hope of the shipwrecked man who swims toward the shore,
or the hope of the shipwrecked man who stays put and says "god will provide"?

good point. i tend to talk about things in a generalised way...i was talking about the pyramid. the hope i talk of is a personal one....hope that others find enlightenment, and yes, hope too in your cases, but would that call for faith? hope is a positive thing, and the energy is returned by universal law, so the act of hope itself would apply positively to the things you mentioned.

de dum de spiro (while i breathe, i hope).

do you think theres a difference between hope and faith?

...

hope, an archaic a feeling of trust.

faith, complete trust or confidence in someone or something.

the line seems a little blurred to me, but i think hope does lead to faith , you can't have one without the other maybe? i'm not sure though, i'm still thinking about it myself.

HSC seems to me all those types of hope can translate into faith and manifest their own miracles...though it seems you are offsetting opposites they can all get great results. the more passive ones may actually be more effective, since struggling (resisting) can increase the pressure...i am familiar with god helps those who help themselves, but frequently attempting to escape concentration camps led to swift death while waiting brought eventual release, ditto the shipwreck - swimming for shore from mid-atlantic might keep you warm but also attract predators, while staying put would keep you closer to the vicinity where someone might be looking for you...there are of course many times when taking action of the smallest kind can bring your goal to you!
