Lets start our own ghost story thread... Heres a couple to start off with. I have already posted about the ever breaking mirrors in my daughters upstairs bathroom. I just posted on Libra's thread about the sonic boom. Heres another... My daughter and I got in a terrible fight so I left. I took off in my 4wd Toyota, slept in a parking lot (armed ofcourse) then drove home, parked my truck in the driveway, reclined the seat way back, rolled the windows down and enjoyed the 3:30 something, early summer morning...
I fell asleep, again.
I was awoken to a terrible scream! The first thing that came to mind was "a Banshee!" I know the location of my property where it came from, back in the corner where a few property lines meet, that has many trees and bushes. It was a non human scream...it was all encompassing, it surrounded my being, inside and out, but it definately came from a certain place. YIKES! I hate the night, being a Scorpio asc one would think I like it, but it gives me the heebie jeebies....I stay inside after dusk, IF I can and dont linger too long. IF I am somewhere, in the company of a few or many, I can tolerate night, but alone, approaching the witching hour...NOT! Lets hear YOURS!!! t~ IP: Logged |

One of my first ghost encounters was when I was 15 years old. Remember it was early morning on a weekend and I was still asleep, well actually sort of half-awake/half-asleep. And the house was completely quiet, when all of a sudden I heard what sounded like a woman's voice whisper my name into my ear. I jolted up immediately and looked around my room, and then called out to my mother thinking it was mabe her wanting me to get up and help her with something around the house. To my surprise, nobody was even home at the time. There was no explanation as to what happened. I figured it could have been a dream, but I wasn't really asleep to be dreaming.IP: Logged |

I was home alone one night about 5 yrs back, just relaxing, watching TV in the living room. All of a sudden the light bulbs (all 3) in the ceiling fan in the dining room next to the kitchen burst and fell to pieces onto the floor, the furniture. Thought 'that's never happened, I guess they just died.' Like I said I was relaxing watching a show I really liked so this annoyed me, the mess covered a rather large area so I had to get up and pick up the pieces for a bit, maybe 5 or 10 minutes because they were so small and I didn't want to miss anything. When I was done picking up the mess I just leaned a bit forward against the kitchen counter watching the show, trying to regain some composure (cos who likes to clean up a mess they didn't make, right, plus I'd probably missed some good scenes). And I hadn't been standing for even a minute when I felt a hand, one finger at a time starting with the pinky, rest itself on my shoulder. I didn't move a muscle, I wasn't exactly scared, but my eyes were wide open if you catch my drift. Was definitely surprised. I could tell that it was male, masculine energy, and I felt he was rather young, 30s/40s range. The way it settled on me, finger by finger and very slowly it was obvious that he didn't want to scare me, and the slowness of it calmed me down to where it started to not feel so strange. Then when all the fingers were resting there he grasped my shoulder for a bit, warmly held it there then let go. It felt real, it had strength, it had control of the movement, it was placing it there with intention expressly not to frighten me and to comfort me, I mean for all intents and purposes it was just like any of our hands, except it wasn't. I googled what happened that night, and other people have had similar, some even claim to have had sex with some spirit/entity. Before I used to think that was impossible now I'm not so sure, I mean if it can manifest so strongly in our physical reality who's to say what it's not capable of doing.IP: Logged |

Wow, great thread.I've written about my experiences feeling my dead parents before. And I've had some other paranormal experiences. The only time I thought I really, genuinely SAW a ghost was when I was in college in Gettysburg. I was in my boyfriend's apartment, wide awake around 4 am, after a party he had thrown. I was sobering up from some beer and pot, I guess. But I was definitely sober enough to quiz myself "Are you sober? Are you REALLY seeing this?" while it was happening. I felt that I was. Like MANY places in Gettysburg, the apartment was allegedly haunted. Friends of ours stayed in the place before my boyfriend moved in. (One day our friend fell asleep on the floor and woke up to feet very loudly stomping on either side of his head. But they were invisible, and it continued after he woke up.) So anyway. This is the only ghost I saw. I was sitting on the floor in the living room, looking into the dark kitchen. A hallway led into the kitchen. As I was looking into that darkness, a white "head" appeared at head height, coming in from the hallway. I thought it was a woman in a bonnet. It stayed there for a while staring at me, long enough to convince me that it was real, then quickly moved across the doorway that was in my line of vision, into the dark kitchen. That's my only ghost story. However, ALL of Gettysburg is terribly creepy, and I basically felt haunted the entire time I was there.

I don't know if this counts as a paranormal event but I'll leave it to you to judge.I used to sleep with the radio on, but on a number of occasions, the volume would just increase all by itself, to such a level that it would wake me up. Turning the volume down never worked, I had to switch the radio off. Only ever happened in one house that I lived, never before or since. Has this happened to any one? IP: Logged |

My tv changes channels by itself. Usually when I'm watching something I am really into. Maybe someone is trying to get my attention? ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Have to add another one, this happened to my husband only awhile back. He is a big heavy metal fan, and he was living alone at the time. He was playing some song from the band Slayer, and he was washing dishes as he was playing it. All of a sudden he heard a loud crash behind him. When he turned around he noticed that the clock on the wall had fell on the floor...way across the room, far from where he normally had it hanging. Thought it was odd that the clock landed on the other side of the room. Mabe what ever it was that was in his apartment didn't agree with his taste in music lol.IP: Logged |

Having heard Slayer before, especially at 120 decibels (or so it seemed at the time), I can see the sound vibrations causing poltergeist effects. IP: Logged |

When I was about 3-4, while laying awake in my Parents bed at dawn, I always saw 2 figures that were quite tall, they were shadowy and behaved as if they were in a conversation with eachother. They wore tall top hats and overcoats. I could not see any other features about them other than their sillouhettes. I saw them on more than 20 occasions. Sometimes I would just lay in bed and watch them until the sunlight illuminated the bedroom (then they would dissapear.) I never wanted to walk near them or get up during their appreances, it frightened me. I would be fine though as long as I was in bed. I did not even mention it to my parents- the thought to tell them never occured to me. My Ghost-watching as a child became normal until one day they were gone but we eventually moved house so after that I did see them any more.i've had a few experiences in my Grandparents house as an adult but I'll write about them when I have more time. Nothing compares though, to the very real experiences I had as a young child. IP: Logged |

The other detail I remember quite well was as if they were on replay. I would see them appear, they would "talk" and gesture to eachother as people do in conversation and then it would repeat- the same sequence. Like a recording. I was tuning into something on another dimension I feel. I don't even think the "ghosts" were aware of my presence- or that I could see them. But I was watching something take place many times over and over. I have theories, but don't we all? IP: Logged |

I can not wait till I am off work to post a pic that some maintenance men took....The hospital system I work for is a turn of the century enimga. The original hospital is attached to an art deco building that originally housed the nursing students. From the VERY first time I walked past there I said O, myyyyy....those places are haunted! A few maintenance men were working late one night and kept hearing noises. So they set some cameras that go off on motion, vibration, etc.. OMG>

Great photo! Two short somewhat recent ones: I was drifting off to sleep at my old house, all lights, tv etc were off. Was just on the verge of falling into full sleep, gettiing regular hypnogogic images that normally happen at that time, when I hear this gruff loud male voice say "HEY!" right in my hear as if a person was right there with their mouth an inch away from my ear. I woke right up, wide eyes, but layed there, scared out of my mind. It's like I could feel the breath in my ear and the voice was loud. Really freaky. Especially because it didnt sound friendly. At that same house, different night, but same setting I woke up with a start to a big hand on my back between my shoulder blades, that gave me a good hard push into my bed (i was sleeping on my front). Yeah, scary. I layed frozen for awhile and nothing else happened. Eventually fell asleep. IP: Logged |

forgot to mention that my dog would sometimes suddenly start growling at something in my bedroom doorway at that house. I'd hear a lot of weird noises - quick loud bangs in one area, same area, right in my room with me.IP: Logged |
