We just got a 4 month old pomapoo that I named Loki. He is wonderful, very well mannered, very friendly and playful. However we can't get him to eat anything. We got him the same food that his previous owners were feeding him, along with treats and wet dog food, and we've barely gotten him to eat hardly anything. We've had him since saturday and all he has eaten was a tiny bit of wet dog food.

We're having the same issue with our dog, Zoe.
She's 1 1/2 years old; got her on Saturday from the local animal shelter.

She's only peed once (but outside ) and hasn't pooped yet; she's only eaten about 2/3 a bowl of dog food (the same kind that she had at the shelter), a few treats, and some peanut butter (and she's a 70 lb dog that really does need some food in her system).
Yesterday I asked one of the long-time shelter volunteers about this - she said that that's pretty common with new dogs, especially if they're sensitive by nature (individually or by breed) and that things'll change on their own once she adjusts.
Pushing the issue will just cause more tension and exacerbate the problem.

Thanks proxeme, that is comforting to hear that it's kinda normal. I'll give him another day or so before I start panicking.

Wow!!!
Have either of you taken your new dogs for a walk yet? My dog always goes on walks. She always does "both" businesses
Be sure to carry plastic bags so the neighbors don't yell at you!

How're things going with your new dog m_a?

Zoe finally went!
I was sure to make a huge deal out of it.
There's not much news on the eating front, though.

Neph - Yep, we've beent taking her for like 5 walks a day, but until this morning with no result...I guess she's finally getting calmer

Loki has never been on a leash before so trying to walk him is very difficult. He does get to spend a lot of time outside though.

I think one of the reasons he won't eat is because of the bowl. It's one of the two dish bowls that are more used by cats and he lived with cats with his previous owner so I think he thinks he isn't supposed to eat from those bowls. We finally got him to eat a little wet dog food and a couple puppy treats so thats a start.

He is a very small dog and his owners said he wont get much bigger so I don't expect him to eat a lot which is why we got him the tiny bowl. He seems to be adjusting well to his surroundings.

We had that problem in the beginning for the first few days with out puppy. What i did was mixed some gravy in with her food and she seemed to gobble it right up. I did leave food out continuously for the few couple months as puppies should be able to eat when ever they want (at least some say that) then you can control the meals by placing them down, like say while you eat your dinner.

Congrats to all the new dog/puupy owners out there!!
